    I know some of you are curious about the build quality, which I intend to touch in in the follow up video. It is by the way a mixture of stainless steel, aluminum, and ABS plastic.
    But, what other questions to you have? Write them here, please.
    Edit: the dimensions are 375mm wide, 375mm deep, and 320mm tall (without the screen). Considering the screen, it is about 420 mm tall. The machine weighs 15 kg.

    I’m pretty wary of a new brand I’ve never heard of, but I’m glad someone is attempting to innovate. All of the established European espresso machine companies are asleep at the wheel. Love the built in brew scale that enables stopping the brew at the desired output automatically, and love that it has a rotary pump. You shouldn’t have to buy $3000+ machines to get these features.

      how well a WDT tool worked. The best WDT I have achieved that does give an even ground distribution with little fines settling at the bottom is with the Bomber spinny needles followed by briefly using the same company's regular WDT tool with the needles on their widest setting. You could probably get a better grinder and espresso machine combo for cheaper, but given that they have designed it nicely, and have that nice steam wand, and scale, and easy to use screen, I'd say it's priced about right. But if they don't fix the handle and the flaccid steam wand and the tiny back button, I'd say I wouldn't buy it for myself. Maybe version 2.

      pull a shot and steam at the same time is completely pointless in a home environment, I've had machines where it was possible to pull a shot and steam at the same time, I did it once just to test and never again, there's no need to stress to earn 10 seconds.

  • @krnl386
    @krnl386 Před měsícem +1

    Great overview! I’m a bit surprised/disappointed that you had to essentially manually dial in the beans despite having the fancy RFID sticker on the bag… my expectation would have been for the machine to auto-load and adjust the grind setting for you, so all you have to do, essentially is to scan the bag, pour it into the hopper, hit grind, transfer to portafilter, puck prep, lock in, hit brew and you’re done. Shot timing, water temp, pressure/flow (if the machine can control these) should all come preloaded from the bag RFID chip. Otherwise this is just a gimmick…
    Second is the idea of dual boiler… can you pull a shot and steam at the same time? If not, then the added maintenance and energy inefficiency of a dual boiler setup may not be worth it.
    Honestly, given the price point of this machine, I’d much rather go with the new Breville Oracle Jet than this plasticky thing…
    Not impressed, TBH.

      Well, I'll be honest. I started grinding on the finest end of the scale, because my contact at Meraki said that the grinders were set a little too coarse. Also @mhaagmans1 raises a good point in an earlier comment regarding the variables involved in espresso extraction and encoding the grind size on the RFID chip. Having said this, I still think the machine could at least include a grinder range (given that all Meraki grinders are the same), and maybe auto-set the grinder somewhere in the middle of said range to at least get you started on the dial-in process.
