Me and my Husband just bought 11 acres a few miles outside of Bryson,we can't wait to move and get our Homestead started! It's a Dream come true to finally move to the Mountains.
It's a beautiful place, can't wait to go visit the area again! Hope your homstead is a success!
This is my family's plan as well!!
Our state is breathtaking from mountains to Outer Banks (or OBX, as the locals call them). I hope and pray I don't ever need to live anywhere else. Tar Heel born and bred. So grateful for that.
Yes, North Carolina is amazing, if I had to move out of Ohio, North Carolina, and Michigan would be my top two choices
@@jasonwish- And you'd e welcomed with open arms. 😊
I live north of Franklin when you where at the fire tower at Wayah you over looked my home. I love living here. Rose Creek is a great place.
I love that area! I will be going through there again in 2024 when I backpack the Bartram Trail which goes right through Wayah Bald. I tend to look for State and National parks for RV camping but that time of the year most were closed for the season and glad we found Rose Creek!
Jason, forgot to mention Chimney Rock is amazing, some amazing views from the very top. Last of the Mohicans with Daniel Day Lewis was filmed there. Best last 10 minutes to a movie ever!! Lol
Agreed!!
I will definitely check it out next time I am close to there...I just didn't want to make my wife wait in the truck for hours while I hiked it since she didn't want to.
@@jasonwish- you’re right, very understandable and with those verticals, you may have been looking at a divorce! Lol. Beautiful area, and a great video! Glad y’all were able to get out and unwind.
Lake James in Marion was also where they filmed part of the movie . It is beautiful. There's a small restaurant that also sits right on Lake Lure that has great food. You can set outside on deck next to the lake. My husband and I went last summer. Watched as people drove up on their boats and was served their food and drinks there. It was very nice.
@@jeannapresnell7272 we'll add this to our growing list!
Thanks for pronouncing Brevard correctly !
I'm glad I got it right, thanks! Beautiful place!
I've been in almost every state and I find this part of the country the most beautiful of all.
The Western mountain towns of NC are hard to beat!
WELCOME to my world friends!!! NC is the best.
And a wonderful world it is!
I'm from the area, great video. The reason the trees up at wayah bald looked like that is because of a forest fire that covered the whole mountain back in 2016. It burned the fire tower down too, all that was left was the rock base. (They rebuilt it). Before the forest fire there were trees and shrubs everywhere to the point it wasn't possible to see the fire tower from the parking area. One good thing about the fires is that it cleared the trees revealing a fantastic almost 360 view at the top.
Thanks for sharing those details, I had heard there was a fire but did not know the extent of it. The view was fantastic and I'm sure I will see that area again someday while hiking sections of the Apalachian Trail as I am an avid backpacker. We expecially enjoyed the amazing little cabins and properties along the rushing mnt.creek while driving up wayah Rd. I'm guessing it was Wayah Creek.
are there muslms in this area?
You are correct it's Wayah creek but there is a pot load and I do mean a pot load of other creeks feeding in and out of it. Creeks everywhere here we have a big moisture problem here with our homes.
I love saluda,little switz,and spruce pine.
I'll have to check out Spruce Pine, never heard of it.
Just returned from Cashiers/Lake Glenville. Drove to Franklin but didn’t know about Wayu Bald. I Will do that next time. Thanks for sharing your trip with us. I’m building a cabin in Maggie Valley which is next to Dillsboro. Make sure you drive through and the Appalachian parkway next time that starts at the end of Maggie. You can see quite a bit of beauty on that little stretch. Oconuluftee river is a cool stop and walk on the parkway. Btw, Waynesville, NC’s Barber Orchard’s has the best apple cider donuts you will ever eat! Twice the size of what you were eating.
I absolutely love that area and have always wanted to stay on the banks of Glenville lake! Having a cabin in the North Carolina mountains has always been a dream of mine, I’m sure your place will be absolutely beautiful. I’ve been through Maggie Valley several times, but next time I’m down that way I’ll definitely check out these other areas you mentioned, thanks!
@@jasonwish- i hope your dream wish comes true like mine is starting to. (20+ yr dream). Getting to know WNC by doing what you’re doing is a great way to begin to narrow down where you want to be. The land prices were right for us in Maggie Valley. The view we found was right too. I know when the time is right, you’ll know right where you want to be thanks to your explorations. Best Wishes. Thanks again for sharing with us.
Stayed in Black Mountain a little over a year ago. One of the nicest small towns I’ve ever been too. That whole area is amazing!
Yeah, it was a very nice place! Blowing Rock and Cashiers are still our favorite but Black Mtn is in our top five for sure!
@@jasonwish- Blowing Rock is a vibe all of its own! Reminds me a lot of Vermont.
We lived in Franklin, NC for 10 months and roamed around al those towns you saw and many more.
So sorry that we moved to AR. from that outstanding beautiful state .
I’m longing to get back there for more exploring, it’s been several years now
We have a cabin in Rutherfordton . Went to many waterfalls I suggest you go to DuPont State Forest near Brevard and hike to Triple Falls water fall ,High Falls and Bridal Veil Falls it’s amazing ! We go there every chance we get.
We’ve been there for a brief visit and saw several of the waterfalls but definitely wanna go back and spend much more time there, it’s a beautiful place!
I'm from around Asheville NC and I've been to the Rocky Mtns recently and I'm telling you NC mountains are superior. The thing about Estes Park, CO is that there's no seclusion and NC offers the Let's find some beautiful place to get lost vibe!
I think you are so right. I don't even really care about the Smokey Mtns. near Gatlinburg and Pigeon Ford b/c of all the crowds. NC mtns. are my happy place.
I agree. My in-laws live in Colorado. I live in Florida, but my family find ourselves visiting Brevard area more. We enjoy it more
I agree. Have been to both many times. They each have their unique positives but this part of the country is the most beautiful I’ve ever seen. Maine comes in second for me but NC is definitely first place.
I'm also from the Asheville area. It is beautiful but the ability to " get lost " is over and done with. Over development of the mountains, the thing that everyone loves has ruined our mountains. Waynesville is a good example of this.
@@jasonwish-If people continue to swarm here, it will no longer be a "happy place" for anyone! Please don't come to Brevard, we can't accommodate any more people!
I live n Marion NC but grew up in Old Fort. You blink you will miss Old Fort but Marion is growing. Lots of places to eat. You could visit the Linville Falls and Caverns not to mention Lake James. Head up to Little Switzerland for lunch and then go up Parkway to Mnt. Mitchell State Park. To bad the restaurant up top is closed now. Worked two seasons up there. Drove an hr each way from Marion but loved it because of its beauty. Watch out for the bikes though if you go in Spring through fall. I experienced something amazing the first yr. Bad weather had us closed for a few days but got the call for us to head on up around 10 am one day late fall. It had snowed and iced really bad. On way up it was beautiful because down n Marion it just looked like fall. Leaves blowing, cool weather but there was a spot right about a mile from top near the parks office that suddenly there was like a line. It turned into solid ice. By this I mean there was ice hanging on everything. Every tree, every bush, every thing you looked at but then you could turn and look at the rd behind you and it was a little blowing snow and leaves still blowing. I stopped and looked for 5 minutes at the transformation. I had never seen anything like it. Like 2 seasons . One stopped and one started. It was beautiful. Nice hiking trails too.
Wow! That is pretty amazing to witness something like that! We can't wait to come back and do some more exploring by RV in N. Carolina.
Brevard is a wonderful town. Downtown area is great! I keep looking for the white squirrels!
Certainly is and I can’t wait to go back and spend more time there, and hopefully find that elusive white squirrel!
Was just there ! We saw the white squirrels ! 2 at the college just when we were giving up , we got some great pics and the lady that owns the white squirrel shop has the pics on her web site now. Beautiful town. We bought a home in Maggie valley while we were there.
I live below the "grade" in Polk COunty. Great area...South of Saluda. Superb ground water; my well is 200 feet with a 75 gpm output. Live in a "farm district"--one house per 5 acres. Rural area logistically close to everything we need--north, south, east, and west. Land is rolling, much more useable than the "mountains". Prices are going up, but not like "up the road"...Safe travels!
Thanks for the info!
I'm from NC I used to live in sylva up the mountain kings mountain behind the old Court house I miss so bad but I'm old and can't take the winters anymore now in Arizona but go back every chance I get
I really enjoyed our quick visit to sylva, very charming...I bet you have so many great memories from that area!
I enjoyed your video. Hope you got to visit Burnsville also Bakersville. There are some great little towns in those mountains and wonderful people.
Thank you so much! I think we may have driven through one of them on our way to Roan Mnt. State Park on our way home after our stop at Black Mnt. but not sure…I will add them to the list for our next visit!
Hello. We just watched this one. You ran across our feed and we subscribed.
Last August we stayed at Fall creek falls state park campground in Tennessee.
If you've never been there, it's worth it. We stayed for a week and I still think we missed some of the good parts. The place was absolutely beautiful!
Thanks so much! So many places we hope to visit in our RV in 2024...Happy New Year!
Love our North Carolina mountain towns❤ I went on the Nantahala train ride out of Bryson City and loved getting to see the mountains where vehicles can't go. Nantahala means "land of the noon day sun". We were told it gets that name because there is one spot on the ride where the sun shines down each day at noon🌞 Also love the Cherokee Indian Reservation.
We will definitely check out Cherokee the next time we are in NC! And maybe even take the train ride in Bryson City 😁
Thanks for sharing!! Welcome to Blue Ridge Mountains of NC. I highly recommend Hendersonville, NC. Apple🍎🍏 and leaf 🍂🍁season is from September-November(depending on where you’re at in our Mountains). Been in Hendersonville since 2008. Beautiful small town with hosting the near by Biltmore Estate, Flat Rock Play House, Carl Sandburg Home, Sliding Rock, Jump Off Rock,
and so much more. We have 4 seasons. Easy access to Atlanta GA, Charlotte NC, and all the way to Charleston, SC and to many other places. God bless y’all!! 💕💕
We definitely need to make a trip back soon with so many other places yet to see! Thanks!
It’s pronounced tuck- uh-see-gee
Also: ap-uh-latch-uh
Way-ya
My ancestors were the first settlers in the Bryson City area. My fourth great grandfather was Moses Proctor. You may have seen the display about Proctor at the Heritage Center. Great video. Thank you
Yes, I do remember reading about the name Proctor....very cool history. And thanks for the pronunciation help. Bryson city was an awesome place!
@@jasonwish- . If you ever come back let me know. I’ll take you off the beaten path and show you things and share history and stories with you that most tourists never get to see
@@garryramsey1949 That sounds awesome! I told my wife about this and she thought it sounded really nice as well, thanks!
What is ap-uh-latch-uh?
@jasonwish- The correct pronunciation is: a.puh.la.chuhn. I definitely don't want you going around saying, ap uh latch uh
Great job as always Jason! Love NC, especially the rural mountain areas.
Our favorite South Eastern state, at least the mountain areas. Still haven’t experienced much of the New England states yet, but I’m sure we’ll love them too. thanks Michael!
Great stops on your trip throughout western NC. Love the area. I'm planning on building a home in the next couple of years somewhere between Franklin and Hayesville. Really love the small town of Haysville and you should check it out on your next visit. Some of the prettiest mountain peaks and a great lake that borders Georgia.
I will certainly put Haysville on our list for next time, looking forward to checking it out, thanks!
Totally agree. Hayesville is nice. My wife and I just bought a home a few miles east of Hayesville last October. Love it up there. We'll be moving up there soon from Florida.
Did you ever build here. I'm north of Franklin and people are selling like crazy right now.
Nice video and good choices to visit. Just for reference two of the best are Blowing Rock and Highlands if you ever get a chance to come back.
Thank you! Yes we’ve been to Blowing Rock and Highlands twice and they are certainly some of our favorites.
Thank you Jason, for taking me on you trip. Enjoyed much. We are moving to North Carolina. Still exploring towns/villages. So this was a treat to learn more. Best to you, wife and son. Kind regards, Jackie.
Thanks Jackie! glad you enjoyed the video! NC mtns are the best!
I’m 19 looking to be officially moved down here by 26! This state is just calling my name I wanna be in the mountains for the rest of my life.
Nice to see you and the wife out and about enjoying the sceneries of the road well deserved him and her vacation time
It was a great trip! My wife and I always enjoy RV camping in our favorite state of NC!
Great video on mountain towns. We live in Sylva, our office is in Dillsboro and we work all over these NC mountains. Glad you enjoyed our backyard! Come again soon.....
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it. Many viewers wanted more content on the towns and less of me blabbering away, which I totally get…can’t please everyone 😁. Hopefully we can come back soon!
I've lived in Bryson City for quite a few years now. There are so many beautiful places to check out around here. You guys should have walked all the way through the road to nowhere, it's prettier on the other side and there are some really nice Trails back there. If you had kept going on Wayah rd. (my favorite road) you would have seen quite a few beautiful waterfalls and ended up in the Nantahala Gorge which would lead you back to Bryson City. I actually have a cabin in the gorge if you want to check it out. It's called The Mountain Forager Cabin. I rent it out. Next time you're in this area let me know and I'll show you some cool spots or you can just watch some of my videos.
Wow, sounds like we definitely need a trip back to that area and spend a little more time there next time, thanks!
Great tour...you surely have made a good tour of many of the best mountain towns of North Carolina.
I've also been to several of them...some repeatedly, like Brevard, Bryson City, and Maggie Valley.
Thanks, can't wait to go back for more!
Very Happy this video came into my feed Beautiful mountains and scenery, love the mountains more than anything.
Western NC mountains are breath taking! I can’t wait to go back…glad you enjoyed it!
"tucka-SIEGE-eeee" river, sir. 👌
You're above the treeline at Wayah falls. That's why the trees look stunted and have weird shapes.
With your camper I bet you have lots of fun traveling around.
Glad to see this clip.
I live in the Hendersonville/East Flat Rock area. Prior to that I lived in Saluda 1979-2017.
Stay safe. 👋
I was pretty close😁. It’s a beautiful river!
It's so much fun to see this beautiful area of our country. Thanks for the video!
Our favorite place to be in the East!
Looked like a great trip! You definitely hit some nice spots! Thanks for sharing Jason!
Love NC! Hope to buy a little piece of property with a cabin down there someday, thanks Chris!
Absolutely great video! Loved the change up from normal videos to dive into some great family time! Keep the awesome videos coming! Also next time you come through WV check out Bramwell. Very cool old train town. God Bless!
I will definitely check that out! Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks!
This is way different than your usual videos and I loved it! Fun to see the little towns and places where you stayed. So glad you and the wife could get out together after the FKT adventure.
Yeah, its been awhile since I've put out content other than backpacking and FKT's...glad you enjoyed it!
Hope you and your family had a great Christmas jason. North Carolina is beautiful . great view of the river in the beginning .
Hope you had a great Christmas as well James! I might just move to NC someday!
Glad I live in North Carolina
Great place to live for sure!
This looked like a fun little road trip!! I love small town America. It's funny you hit Roan Mountain. Roan Highlands is on my hit list & I want to backpack it next June! Another great video my friend!
Yes, small mountain towns are so fun! The Roan are was very nice, I also would like to hit the Highlands area eventually, thanks Kevin.
That was just wonderful. Thank you soooooooo much. Driving on the roads did seem rather difficult though. Eva
Thank you so much Eva, glad you enjoyed it! We have six other similar style RV trip videos on my channel if interested. Here is the playlist link: czcams.com/play/PL3KCgtMCYLWpHnWpxOTa9E9CUnzrXzoMp.html
You do a great job of showing a place! Thank you so much!
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it. It turned into more of a vlog than I had wanted orininally but I guess that just means I'll have to go back and film some more!
This is really great info! Thanks for the advice! 🙏
Thank you, glad it was helpful!
Beautiful mountains! We live in Brevard love it , so many choices waterfalls, close to other little towns.
Brevard is an awesome place, definitely one of our favorites!
Very much enjoyed your romp through our mountain towns. We had a really late fall last year, with the leaves on the trees beyond Halloween.
Yeah we really lucked out with the late fall! We will certainly be back to do more exploring, glad you enjoyed video!
Just found your channel. So glad I did. Loved this video and looking forward to many more. Greetings from North Mississippi.
Thanks Robert! Working on our Watkins Glen State Park New York RV trip video now, hope to have it released late July!
The way I work I had no time to go up there but once I retired I'm going to try to go once a month
Sounds like a great plan!
I miss it down here I used to live in around Asheville North Carolina and Fletcher North Carolina
It's a beautiful place and I hope I can own a small piece of property there one day.
Great trip. Love the variety you of the videos you share with us.
Glad you like the variety! I hope to start back up my farm channel this spring and keep this channel for just backpacking, RV camping and kayaking.
@@jasonwish- I’ll have to checkout the farm channel.
I just love it❤❤❤❤ in Maggie Valley
It is certainly a beautiful area!
Thanks for sharing 👍 enjoyed
Thanks so much for watching! We can't wait to go back again and do some more exploring.
Nice video! I just discovered you. What a wonderful trip you had. Thanks for sharing. God bless!
Thanks for the kind words, glad you enjoyed it! Lots of RV adventures and campground reviews coming in the future!
Beautiful views! Looks like it was a fun trip. Brussel sprouts fried in bacon grease in a cast iron skillet over a campfire is one of my absolute faves! Never tried it with the eggs.
It was so fun, I'm ready for another! Those brussels were left overs from the night before, one of the Nantahala Brewery's appetizers, deep fried brussels with bacon, amazing!
Getting eloped in black mountain in April, even more excited now! How beautiful
Awesome! How exciting!
Great relaxing trip video bud! When my family and I go car camping we’re still rocking a tent but my wife has been after me to upgrade us to some type of RV so that we don’t have all the setup and tear down time giving us more time to explore. Glad to see you got a good much needed break after the FKT.
We did the tent thing for years and my wife just got so sick of loading and unloading totes with all of our gear and supplies. This is our second camper, the first one was a 35 footer with several slide outs and a bunkhouse room for the kids, now we just have a small 23 footer for my wife and I. If the kiddos wanna go they have to bring their own sleeping arrangements 😁
NC is amazing! By far our favorite state...we hope to buy property there someday. Thanks AJ!
@@jasonwish- us too bud! If you haven’t been there yet Dupont State Forest has some great day hiking options with amazing waterfalls.
@@JourneyontheTrail We have been to Gorges State Park for hiking and waterfalls viewing but have not made it to DuPont yet, it is certainly on the list!
I recommend West Jefferson (cute downtown with some great restaurants), but definitely Boone and Blowing Rock!
I’ve gotten a lot of mentions to check out West Jefferson so it is going right to the top of our list! We’ve been to Boone and blowing rock and you are right they are amazing, thanks!
I love North Carolina and this video. The cabin was a dream ✨️
So many cool homes/cabins up in those mountains!
Enjoyed your video very much. Because you were in Little Switzerland in the off season you missed one of the best restaurants in the mountains. The Little Switzerland Cafe is absolutely wonderful! Every trip to the mountains in our roadster we detour to this eatery. It may not look like much, but wow does it have delicious food.
Thanks! Nice to know for the future. Maybe when we do the Blue Ridge Pkwy we will swing by if it’s not off season.
So agree. I love the mnts. I love living so close . Live n Marion. Worked at the Mnt Mitchell State Park Restaurant the last 2 seasons it was opened. I wish it was still open. I'd do it again. Long hrs. Lots of driving too but I did love it.
I live here in NC but never go anywhere. This is the only way I truly get to see the immense beauty of this state. Thank you for sharing. God bless you both out there.
Immense beauty certainly describes it well! Glad you enjoyed it, thanks!
Next time spend some time in highlands,nc. Awesome hiking and fishing all around!!! And great restaurants too!!!
Yes, we love Highlands! Been there twice before on other trips...one of our favorites.
Great area thanks headed to the Highlands up past Brevard really nice fall colors n Ohio last year Berlin Amish area safe travels greetings from Charlotte NC
All beautiful areas, hopefully we can get back there this fall sometime.
I am from these areas of NC, and I can say one thing......it has this eery, quiet dessence to it! And yes, it is VERY quiet!! But do NOT mess with the Locals...you will go missing real quick!! Lol 😆 😆 😆
Same way when I was backpacking through the back roads of Daniel Boone Natiional Forest in Kentucky...you don't dare mess with the local dogs even if they come at you or you could end up missing, lol.
thats scary
@naff7552 that's how nature balances itself from the evildoers.
Great trip thanks. Next time check out sliding rock, Lynville Falls, Boone, Blowing Rocks, and Mt Mitchell.
Thanks! We have been to all the above except Mt. Mitchell...all great places!
nice!
Loved this video!!!
Thanks so much, glad you enjoyed it!
I just moved to Franklin, love it! That drive to Cashiers actually made me a little car sick, with all the curves, next time I’ll take the motorcycle!
Franklin is an awesome place, not too big and not too small.
Scott, I lived in Franklin for 12 years 1996-2008. Say hello to some of my old buddies for me.😂😂😂
Our family lives on the coastal area of NC. We travel to out western mountains at least once a year and sometimes twice a year. We especially love Maggie Valley although all this area is beautiful and relaxing. Great video and makes me want to be there.
Thanks Judy, glad you enjoyed it! We try to go to the western mountains of NC once a year to explore a new area. This year we visited West Jefferson for a few days, very nice place. Here is the trip video if interested: czcams.com/video/k0X6bmDpLzc/video.html
So cool
Thanks Angie!
I live in rural NC outside of Concord. LOVE taking my Mustang on cruises to different mountains (a few local Mustang clubs try to do this). You gave me some GREAT ideas to take my teen boys out to. I’ve never been to many of these. Lake Lure is definitely a pretty drive. Black Mountain truly surprised me. Lol we discovered it by making a potty stop. Then the lady at the Welcome Center shared all kinds of cool stuff with us. Their museum with the HUUUGE rocking chair was awesome. Lunch at the Little Switzerland Hotel is top notch, lol I think mostly for the view. The parking is tough though.
It’s always fun to explore and adventure. NC is definitely far from dull. Thank you for the great recommendations.
Glad to hear the video gave you some ideas! Some of those windy mnt roads would be so fun in a sports car or motorcycle! My first car was a refurbished 1964 1/2 candy apple red Mustang...didn't have the 289 in it though just the straight 6 but it was still a fun little car! Thanks for watching!
Concord has a fantastic Mustang museum near Charlotte Motor Speedway.
My own home state and I have some new places on the bucket list!
Awesome! I always look forward to going back to my favorite state to visit new places, still many on the list!
Please note that several of the towns we visited were just a quick drive by because of time restraints or it was out of season for that area. We will definitely be back to visit many again and venture out to see some new ones that you have recommened in the comments.

Great video! I made this same trip moving from Florida to Virginia. I went wayyyy out of the way, but North Carolina is beautiful!
indeed it is! Love Florida and Virginia though too!
Nice. Watching from Arkansas 👍🏻💛🙏🏻
Hey Bill, thanks for watching!
Just moved up to Asheville just down the road from Black Mountain and been to a few places that you also visited. Looking forward to spring when things start looking better and opening up. If you think November is bad try January.
Yeah, I'm sure January is rough! We really like the Ashville and Black Mnt area, I'm sure we'll be back for another visit soon!
And i'm so glad to see you stopped at the Gazebo!! I work there. I have for years. Maybe I was y'alls server. Lol. Ya never know.
Had a great sandwich there, if we ever drive through Franklin again we will probably stop again!
~ 0:48 Tuck A See GEE ;) Glad you had a great time. Born and Raised here in Weaverville NC (north of Asheville)
My wife and daughter actually stayed in an Airbnb in Weaverville last year when visiting Biltmore. Thanks
Burnsville and Spruce Pine, Jason. Beautiful little towns. During the holidays Burnsville looks like a Hallmark Christmas card
Thanks for the recommendations, we will add those to our list to visit!
My husband is from a small town outside Asheville, called Weaverville, NC. We go often...love those mountains. We have a lot of family there.
I am familiar with Weaverville, my wife and daughter stayed at an Airbnb there when visiting Biltmore s few years ago.
@@jasonwish- It's a pretty little town. My husbands Grandpa's cabin is still there...his daughter still lives in it, she's almost 81. He built it himself, and lived to be almost 101. Still has the old wood stove. I cook on it when we go there.
I love to go in the winter, and get out of the heat. It's hot in Florida.
Very cool, thanks for sharing!
Glad I found this channel. We live in Monroe and because we had a wild hair we drove up to Bellefontaine around the 4th. Well that and there's a Del Taco there lol.
Not sure I would go out of my way to come to Bellefontaine ha ha, I still haven’t tried Del taco.
Heck we usually go to Springfield to hit up the antique malls or the Columbus area to browse. I figured why not Bellefontaine. Plus we stopped at Marie's on the way back to get chocolates and such.
My wife loves the antique malls in Springfield usually goes to them several times a year, but I haven’t been to Marie’s candies in a long time
I'm shocked y'all didn't stop in Waynesville! 😮
Yeah, I'm surprised we didn't either, but I think we may have taken a route to the South on our way to Brevard from Dillsboro instead...we'll put it on the list for our next visit!
That tunnel was featured in the movie "alien abduction"
That’s cool, very interesting.
I live in Grayson County, I think u would love Grayson Hiland state park. And it's no problem to see the poneys. They have a round up once a year and sell some off. To keep the population in check. That's a great time to go. And they have nice camp grounds.
Yes, we have been wanting to go there but just haven’t found the time. It’s also on my short list to backpack there since I am an avid hiker and backpacker. Thanks Chad!
You missed out on the "Great Smokey Mnt. Railroad" in Bryson. I'd say the best attraction there by far. Then a tour of the Biltmore Estate in Ashville is an awesome stop.
Yeah I bet that great smoky mountain railroad is a pretty cool ride but we were too short on time with this whirlwind tour. We’ve already done the Biltmore twice but always love checking out different places when in Asheville. Thanks!
Great video, but you should have shown the view fro Roan Mt. towards NC. Spectacular!
Thanks, I wish I had taken more time to check out those views!
You should try beach MTN Next time around, You missed Out on some good food and amazing easy free places to hike like Linville falls. Also nearby is Boone Blowing rock Jefferson, Grandfather MTN. Tons of camping As well. Good trip here Look forward to see what's next....
Thanks! We are definitely looking forward to going back and seeing much more! We have been to Boone and blowing rock and Linville Falls already and beach mountain was on our list but we just ran out of time, hopefully next time!
Bless this guys heart.....App uh LATCH ian Mountains......not App a lash ian Mountains.
Your pronunciation is absolutely correct in the southern half of United States. It’s just as commonly pronounced the way I pronounced it in the northern half of the US. You can even look it up and see…i’m just an Ohioian traveling through North Carolina, my favorite state. I’ll try to remember to pronounce it the other way next time I’m there.
@@jasonwish- and I apologize if that came off the wrong way. I used to live at the foot of Wayah Bald. We all appreciate positive videos about western NC!
@@markthe1860 no problem...and obviously I didn't know how to pronouce Wayah Bald either...that drive up there was just spectacular! I'm a backpacker and I will be hiking through there this year at some point.
@@jasonwish- cool. Yeah the AT is only a few miles away from here. The wildfires that burned up there in 2016 were only a few hundred yards from my house at one point. Everything has rebounded pretty well in just a few years.
Great video. The only town I see missing that I think you would enjoy is West Jefferson, NC.
If I had a nickel for every time I’ve heard that.... we will definitely check it out on our next visit, thanks!
dillsboro has a nice little shopping villaage. Dont know if you stopped there or not. also the smoky Mt. Railroad is there. liked your video.
Yes we drove through And stopped for a cup of coffee, lovely little town.
I live in Black Mountain; but you mentioned you missed Highlands, I highly recommend you stop there on your next trip. It is at about 4000 ft and has a number of nice shops and a wonderful variety of water falls.Great video.
Hey thanks! We have been to Highlands before on a previous trip to Cashiers, and yes, it is a magical place for sure!
@@jasonwish- great - and I certainly respect your ability to drive on those winding roads pulling a trailer - yikes.
Got to see Dry Falls on rt 64 just west of Highlands
@@rayk998 We saw it a few years ago, it was awesome!
@@jasonwish- 👍 Enjoyed your video!
I'm from Ohio, and my son just bought a house in Nebo, NC He lives on Lake James. Beautiful country! ❤️❤️❤️
I will have to check that area out. Hopefully we can purchase some land in NC someday.
This is cool. I'm from Ohio and was down in this area back in June and had unfortunately caught the fog. I took US 23 home from Asheville to Ohio and hated that drive.
Check out Blowing Rock and Boone. Blowing rock is very touristy and Boone is a College town. I happened by West Jefferson and thought it was a cute town
I agree on the US 23 route, we don’t like that drive either but sometimes it’s faster especially if we are heading to the coast. Blowing rock is our all-time favorite town and we’ve already been to Boone as well on a previous trip. Will definitely check out West Jefferson next time. Thanks!
Thanks
If you haven't already.... You should visit Boone, Blowing Rock, and Banner Elk NC I really enjoy your videos.
Thanks Ralph! Yes, we have visited all three of them previously...we really enjoyed them all but Boone was a little too busy and populated for our liking.
Nice. I was hoping you were going to show me Boone N.C. been wanting to see it since I met someone from there. They talked it up real nice.
My wife visited Boone two years ago while I was doing some hiking in the area and she still liked Blowing Rock better so we decided to skip it on this trip. Cashiers/Highlands are is still one of our favorite areas as well as Blowing Rock, which is very close to Boone. Thanks Keith!
That is a great ides to just bounce between different towns over a few days. So many of those places sounded familiar. Lake Lure sounds familiar but I can't think if we were ever there. (Rugged Mountain Mister - my 5 year old - was indignant that you didn't show any footage of the lake! The Chimney Rock place sounds familiar, Bryson City sounded familiar. Is Fontana dam in/near the Nantahala National Forest? My wife and I honeymooned there so that may be why things sound familiar. I've seen that Tunnel on other channels before too. Basically..... it felt like I was on the adventure with you cause it all sounded familiar! I agree on the lack of burms... and I'm not even pulling a trailer! Have you done a tour of the camper for a video? We always like watching those! Great trip Mr. Wish, thanks for taking the time to shoot the videos and provide the commentary!
It's so hard to film when I'm with my wife since she despises being on camera so most of the filming is done when she is not around. So many places and views I wanted to film more but it was a whirlwind tour...needed two more weeks to see it right! Yes, I believe we were in Nantahala NF for a bit. I definitely messed up by not filming that beautiful lake😂 Awesome area to honey moon in! Thanks Mark!
Maggie Valley and Waynesville NC are both nice little towns. From Maggie Valley on hwy 19 which goes straight into Cherokee, NC
I've been hearing a lot about Waynesville area, will certainly check it out next time, thanks!
I’m from Minneapolis MN lived in Black Mountain for about a year loved the area WNC is the best
Yeah, black mountain was awesome. I’d love to go spend some more time in that area.
You didn’t even finish the walk through the tunnel….there are hiking trails and is gorgeous
Yes I know, we were on a time crunch and just wanted a quick visit. I know all about the hiking trails, I am an avid long distance backpacker and have hiked 1000's of miles.
Marion NC has GOLD RIVER CAMP AND CABINS...perfect for base camp but you missed the shops up by Switzerland Inn in Little Switzerland best spring thru fall and Hot Spring NC has just about it all including hot springs.
I guess that just gives me another reason to go back again! Thanks!
