      @@golf1diesel I just picked up a DC2R today, but I can't let go of my 987.2 S. Both are great cars. My 987 with PASM is much more refined and has a dual character (very comfortable cruiser, but also competent and engaging).
      The ITR feels much faster even when it is actually going slower, so is more enjoyable on the street. It feels more like a race car, with its lack of sound deadening and slightly stiffer suspension. I haven't driven it much on the highway, but on the short stretch, I don't think it'll make a comfortable cruiser (4000 RPM + roadnoise)
      Both cars have great shifters, but the Cayman is happy in any gear, and the Integra will give you reasons to shift more. Maybe I'll give an update after owning the ITR for a few more months.

    I remember a review at the time saying “every journey becomes a last gasp qualifying attempt”. I had one and indeed it was, a trip to the shops turned you into Ayrton Senna trying to get pole in Monaco. It never became tiresome. It’s not just the revving either, the car has such good feel and balance when you slide it a bit. A car you can really drive at 9+ths

    The most fun you can have at the speed limit. What more would you want? That's what I don't understand about the latest batch of hypercars - they smash the national speed limit in 2nd gear. We don't all live near autobahns, so where can you use them to their full potential legally except on the racetrack? You can thrash the Integra Type R every day of the week, and still keep your licence.

    I currently own a 2000 Honda Integra Type Rx in the New Forrest, the boot problem you have with the flimsy carpet is because you're missing a fordable piece of wood that lays below the carpet protecting the spare wheel are providing support. As you said the fuel tank will take around £50 to fill with premium depending where you fill up, I recently drove the car to the south of Wales and the car was perfectly comfortable for the journey.

    Honda at that time just made very simple, incredible intuitive, driving focused cars, still have to drive a car that from the minute you start driving it gives you the confidence as any type r (ep3 or itr dc2) gives you to absolutly trash the bollocks out of them. Good steering, tremendous gear change, fair brakes, all light but organically communicative, sound out of this world, traction enough to give you confidence but not too much to stop fun, everything is perfect enough just to go full chat as much as you can as many times as you want.

I never found it uncomfortable. I took three other adults to France in it at one point , and despite what he says in the video, the boot took all our luggage with no issues. Had one of these. It was never boring. So many of the fundamentals were right: double wishbone suspension, lightweight, high revving engine, LSD, great seats, It even had a decent boot!
    I did plenty of long journeys in it. For me it was quite comfortable on the motorway with its good driving position, supportive seats and not bad ride quality. The main problem was there was no 6th gear so it sat at high revs, making noise wasting fuel on the motorway and it had a small fuel tank...

    • @Shane-zx4ps
      @Shane-zx4ps Před 4 lety

      Jonathan Bowen 6th gear would not make a difference, my Civic type R still revs very high on motorway, it’s just the way they are designed,

    • @jonathanbowen3640
      @jonathanbowen3640 Před 4 lety

      @@Shane-zx4ps In theory they could have kept the first 5 gears and the final drive the same and added a sixth longer ratio. (Tiff Needel mentioned this in his review at the time they came out)The ratios are a choice the manufacturer can change the ratios at will. Infact Honda did change the ratios of the Integra whilst it was in production specifically the Japanese 98 spec one IIRC, they tried to do what they could with a five speed box. Shame it never got the lighter 6 speed unit from the next Integra DC5 and Civic the EP3. If it did have a six speed maybe Honda would have ben tempted to keep top gear the same and just stacked the ratios even closer together as you say.
      Great car though. That's only thing I didn't like. Well that and the rust.

You could also get them in Japan in red and black(and silver for the four door) from the start, when the updated 98's came out you could add silver and yellow. and yellow seats And yep fake as fook "carbon" 😁 I reckon your boot carpet is missing the plastic insert/backing(wooden on the Euro ones). Yeah. 😁 Tops of back seats the worst hit. Though as a current owner of a 98 Spec JDM, I missed having a full centre console, so I went and got one from a scrapped JDM DC2 1.6. To complete the "authentic" package I then went and sourced an brand new OEM US Acura Type R centre alacantara console lid(as that was standard with them). I was a bit concerned the new part would look the wrong colour and out of place, but funny enough it seems even as brand new the colour was more a blue black so it didn't. It's been in it over two years now and looks the same as the rest of the interior.
      I'm kinda going for the "world DM" rather than J/US/E/UKDM. 😁 To that end on top of the USDM centre console, I have UKDM rear lights(the best and most modern looking IMHO) EDM rear fog light set into the JDM bumper, UK and Ireland floormats and pedals. I'd love a USDM rear seat, but they're like rocking horse droppings.

    That's a bit rough for such low KMs my DB8 type R (4 door) has only 140,000 kms and is about the same but all in all it's a very exciting car to drive and I have no problem driving long distances, The first drive I had in mine was around 4 hours distance from where I bought the car back home and I loved every second of it 👍

    A 'little bit of rust on the wheel arch' normally means the rot has started in them. They normally rot from the inside out

    Can I ask your (and everyone else's!) opinion? I'm meant to be selling, via classic car auctions in a couple of weeks my 2001 Renault Sport Clio 172 (low mileage, all original etc etc). With all this craziness going on, if it was you, would you pull it out of the auction and wait until later in the year when people are allowed out again?!

    C'mon Jason, a beautiful car like that and you aren't driving it? Change the name of the channel to The Car Guy and Jason. I haven't seen one of those in a while, they are a great value for the money.
