Some vaccines protect you for life and some only protect you for a decade or so before you need a booster. Not all vaccines are created equal. The flu vaccine is anywhere from 30-60% effective depending on if virologists predict the dominant strains for the year using data from the previous year. Sometimes they get it right sometimes they don’t. But it still saves tens of thousands of lives every year. Covid vaccines are saving lives so I don’t get what you mean by they’re not working. What is your definition of “a vaccine that works”?

When I had COVID it was before the vaccine. I barley could walk because my covid and I had headaches every hour and I was vomiting a lot. I had horrible diarrhoea. My father’s mother died from COVID before the vaccine. I hate this disease and feel bad for everyone with this horrible disease……..

Im glad i live in a nation were the vast majority of people know that the vacinnes work and are the best way of protecting their families and others . Hence currently 82.9% of the UK population is fully vaccinated and heading towards the magic 85% for herd immunity to be effective.

My Sister died last week . She wasn’t vaccinated . She did the same thing and posted on FB for her friends to get vaccinated!! It was to late for her . But if she had it to do all over again she would of taken the vaccine .

That's just it. People think if they get sick and go into the hospital with COVID-19, the medical team will save them with modern medicine. But the truth is, most people that go into the hospital with COVID don't make it out. And if by some rare chance they do, they don't come out the same. Most have chronic debilitating health issues.

I was fighting for my life the same day hers was lost. Covid is a killer, I know how it feels. Fighting for every breath, trying to get up and attempt to walk to the bathroom. Can't because the oxygen drops. I'm considered the lucky ones who survived and can share my experience. I too wasn't vaccinated. But after my close to death. I decided to do so. Covid left me with some battle scars to remind me the fight I went through. But Covid left others with memories of lost ones. Please be safe and do the right thing to stay alive for the people who love you.
That sounds exactly like what my mom went through with bacterial pneumonia. What a pity for the doctors that it was bacteria and not covid or they could have made more taxpayer money. Not that they didn't want her tested for covid and tried several times until they finally admitted it was BACTERIA.

So sad. Im watching this while in isolation, Im covid positive, overweight and on my 40s. Im on my 14th day, I'm thankful that I'm fully vaccinated. I will be tested again in 2 days time to make sure I cannot pass this to my children who are not yet eligible for vaccination.
40s is still pretty young. You will be okay. Just try to eat healthy, stay hydrated, get as much sleep as you can. Stay strong, and i hope you feel better as soon as possible.

My Sister was healthy !! My sister wanted everyone to get vaccinated ! My sister basically smothered to death ! She was in the hospital five weeks . Four of those weeks she was put into an induced coma and intubated with respirator . Respirator was giving her 100% oxygen . She lost her battle , she fought hard . I sure wish my sister had gotten the vaccine 😓😮💨😪 They said Covid Pneumonia killed her. This was a very healthy woman ! Except she was over weight . But that’s it. I know how your feeling.

I got my first vaccination 3 1/2 weeks ago. Got COVID this week (likely Omicron) and was very sick for 2 days and slightly sick today. My husband who is fully vaccinated and boosted also tested positive, but he took care of ME because he only had mild cold symptoms. No hospital visit or ventilator. I’d say that’s pretty good outcomes.
@Spanna Banna, well I got COVID a few weeks ago, so between one vaccine injection and natural antibodies, I should be good. Your points are well-taken. I have read a number of peer reviewed studies. Medical and scientific literature is also written by experts. As I recall as an undergrad we had to do expert literature review; i.e., peer reviewed studies, in formulating a thesis for our research. Natural immunity generally is vastly superior, but as you get older your immune response can be TOO robust and overreact, essentially acting like an auto immune response attacking your body. The vaccine “instructs” the immune system to respond appropriately. I have a healthy dose of skepticism, but as I mentioned before, my prior stint with pneumonia was quite scary. I am an omnivore, and other than recently, haven’t been sick in years. I just survived COVID. My husband who was double-vaxxed and boosted had a far milder version.

My experience was so very similar. I spent Nine weeks in Mayo Clinic and in ICU with Covid. I was so close to death and that truth was made very clear to me and my family. The experience was horrific. I couldn’t do Anything by myself. Trying to just move my leg or hip made my oxygen drop. I was so damn sick and weak & so immensely sad at the thought of leaving my daughter. I was in isolation for at least 6 weeks.We had zoom calls and she was so upset and afraid that she couldn’t even look at me. I’ve been home now for right around two months. Still on oxygen with four blood clots in my lungs, on a blood thinner and a host of other meds. There is no reason whatsoever why I should be here at all. I’m so so thankful for the Mayo Clinic. They are so outstanding. They are tired and This is so unnecessary. These stories really break my heart… This is an awful death. I don’t think people really get it. It’s only going to get worse and eventually EVERYONE will be touched by this:(

Before I was sick, I only worked if I wanted and only 10-15 hrs/wk. I don’t really care to go to work, honestly. I’m happy in my home. I would say, in a sense, that I am submissive to him. I have an immense respect for him, as he does me. I do not feel that we are equals in our relationship. I like that he is the man. We aren’t the same. He is bigger. He is stronger. Yes, they don't promise the shots are 100% successful but they do suggest strongly to get them because they will help even if you get COVID. Even if you're not sure, ask yourself this...when was the last time you ever met someone with polio or smallpox? Vaccinations do help!

I got my final vaccination shot at the end of May. Today I feel fine I haven't been sick and my loved ones have also gotten vaccinated. Regardless though I still live like I'm not vaccinated and when I say that I mean I wear my mask all the time and I wash my hands whenever I go outside or touch something outside of my home. Part of it of course it's because I don't want to get covid but the other reason is because I enjoy the fact I haven't had a cold or any other seasonal illness in almost two years. Is that common sense situation our parents and doctors always try to instill in us. Wash your hands or disinfect them whenever you have a chance and if you cough cover your mouth. I feel terrible for that woman and I feel terrible for her family but these deaths can be prevented. People just need to realize how covid-19 doesn't give a damn what your political affiliation is or what your religious beliefs are. If you don't protect yourself via mask hand-washing or vaccinations you are screwed if it gets you. It's just sad that this woman had to be on her deathbed to realize that vaccination save lives. I regret not getting my booster shot. I have recently come down with Covid and it was horrible. I’m a very healthy individual and the mild symptoms weren’t too mild. I missed Christmas with my family. I didn’t have to go to the hospital or doctor, but I’m positive for Covid and I don’t want to spread it. Get your booster guys. Don’t be these fools.

I know. Covid staying forever with us is not an option. I say we get vaccinate and follow the rules like citizens instead of fighting each other and risking more deaths. Masks too. The government also needs to be more careful and reasonable when handing the virus. I don't care if I get called a sheep for saying that, but COVID took millions of lives and we won't stand for it in the new normal! In this matter, we have to do follow the guidelines of the CDC, _no arguments,_ and just be careful. All of us have one goal, no matter who we are or what we believe in... Stop COVID-19 and get back to the normal life we know and love. The more vaccinations and more precautions, the less cases and eventually we'll find a way to prevent another pandemic everywhere else.

You say 'they had years to learn' about covid but not for smokers? Seriously? Às a high risk individual who cannot take the vaccine due to medical reasons, and cannot wear a mask due to medical reasons I am getting really sick of being told that I deserve to die. I am a disabled person. I rarely go out besides to medical appointments. It's not like I am out socializing or partying. I would absolutely get vaccinated if it was safe for me and advised by my medical doctors. Again, I cannot get vaccinated for covid, or the regular flu due to personal medical reasons, and several of my specialized doctors telling me not to. I am not being hesitant or anti-vax. Unfortunately, most people treat anyone unvaccinated as though they are absolutely ignorant trash that is intending to harm and kill others. There is a lot of harsh black and white thinking these days with stuff like the vaccine. All I am really trying to convey is that people may have legitimately valid reasons for not getting the vaccine. Not only is it not right to harass people about the medical history (vaccine status), it is no one other than a person's doctor's place to ask them why they aren't vaccinated or anything else about their personal medical care. Unless it's an immediate family member or close friend you really shouldn't be asking or discussing it either. For example, your coworkers medical information is none of your business and not your right to ask about.

I am not saying that the majority or cases don't involve life style choices as a factor, but there are other factors and even other independent causes. I have a variety of autoimmune diseases including type 1 diabetes. I also have blood pressure problems, severely high and low. All of that and a ton of other major medical problems were caused by my multiple autoimmune diseases, and persist despite my incredibly healthy diet, and excersize and my young age.
With the exception of those COVID-recovered, since the advent of the vaccines, there has been three choices: early treatment, risk the vaccines, or do nothing, the last choice being quite foolish--and occasionally deadly. As a 65yo man, I prepared my body to fight COVID and availed myself to the most popular early treatment protocol. Of course it worked, my COVID-19 experience being a snoozefest.

I lost my sister to cancer about 3 years ago. It was hard to deal with her death because she was not that old. But I resign myself to it because there was nothing anyone could have done. All anti-cancer treatments had no effect. It's going to happen and you just have to deal with it. But the hurt, that feeling of great loss, is always there. I try to imagine dealing with her death when she could easily have lived just by getting a damn shot. That would be way too hard to deal with.

The flu vaccine is anywhere from 30-60% effective depending on if virologists predict the dominant strains for the year using data from the previous year. Sometimes they get it right sometimes they don’t. But it still saves tens of thousands of lives every year. Covid vaccines are saving lives so I don’t get what you mean by they’re not working. What is your definition of “a vaccine that works”?

I was fighting for my life the same day hers was lost. Covid is a killer, I know how it feels. Fighting for every breath, trying to get up and attempt to walk to the bathroom. Can't because the oxygen drops. I'm considered the lucky ones who survived and can share my experience. I too wasn't vaccinated. But after my close to death. I decided to do so. Covid left me with some battle scars to remind me the fight I went through. But Covid left others with memories of lost ones. I got my first vaccination 3 1/2 weeks ago. Got COVID this week (likely Omicron) and was very sick for 2 days and slightly sick today. My husband who is fully vaccinated and boosted also tested positive, but he took care of ME because he only had mild cold symptoms. No hospital visit or ventilator. I’d say that’s pretty good outcomes.

Medical and scientific literature is also written by experts. As I recall as an undergrad we had to do expert literature review; i.e., peer reviewed studies, in formulating a thesis for our research. Natural immunity generally is vastly superior, but as you get older your immune response can be TOO robust and overreact, essentially acting like an auto immune response attacking your body. The vaccine “instructs” the immune system to respond appropriately.
I have a healthy dose of skepticism, but as I mentioned before, my prior stint with pneumonia was quite scary. I am an omnivore, and other than recently, haven’t been sick in years. I just survived COVID. My husband who was double-vaxxed and boosted had a far milder version.

I so agree with you! Part of the problem is everyone is being so judgmental, and thats coming from someone who believes in the vaccine. Everyone is fighting from both sides and shoving their opinion down peoples throats, and theyre talking ill about the dead which really makes me sick. I mean you have to be a pretty sad person to talk crap about the dead. We should be supportive of each other in tough times, and try to spread positive useful information. My experience was so very similar. I spent Nine weeks in Mayo Clinic and in ICU with Covid. I was so close to death and that truth was made very clear to me and my family. The experience was horrific. I couldn’t do Anything by myself. Trying to just move my leg or hip made my oxygen drop. I was so damn sick and weak & so immensely sad at the thought of leaving my daughter. I was in isolation for at least 6 weeks.We had zoom calls and she was so upset and afraid that she couldn’t even look at me. I’ve been home now for right around two months. Still on oxygen with four blood clots in my lungs, on a blood thinner and a host of other meds. There is no reason whatsoever why I should be here at all. I’m so so thankful for the Mayo Clinic. They are so outstanding. They are tired and This is so unnecessary. These stories really break my heart… This is an awful death. I don’t think people really get it. It’s only going to get worse and eventually EVERYONE will be touched by this:(

I got my final vaccination shot at the end of May. Today I feel fine I haven't been sick and my loved ones have also gotten vaccinated. Regardless though I still live like I'm not vaccinated and when I say that I mean I wear my mask all the time and I wash my hands whenever I go outside or touch something outside of my home. Part of it of course it's because I don't want to get covid but the other reason is because I enjoy the fact I haven't had a cold or any other seasonal illness in almost two years. Is that common sense situation our parents and doctors always try to instill in us. Wash your hands or disinfect them whenever you have a chance and if you cough cover your mouth. I feel terrible for that woman and I feel terrible for her family but these deaths can be prevented. People just need to realize how covid-19 doesn't give a damn what your political affiliation is or what your religious beliefs are. If you don't protect yourself via mask hand-washing or vaccinations you are screwed if it gets you. It's just sad that this woman had to be on her deathbed to realize that vaccination save lives. I hope she's with God and I know she is.

Às a high risk individual who cannot take the vaccine due to medical reasons, and cannot wear a mask due to medical reasons I am getting really sick of being told that I deserve to die.
I am a disabled person. I rarely go out besides to medical appointments.
It's not like I am out socializing or partying.
I would absolutely get vaccinated if it was safe for me and advised by my medical doctors.
Again, I cannot get vaccinated for covid, or the regular flu due to personal medical reasons, and several of my specialized doctors telling me not to. I am not being hesitant or anti-vax.
Unfortunately, most people treat anyone unvaccinated as though they are absolutely ignorant trash that is intending to harm and kill others.
There is a lot of harsh black and white thinking these days with stuff like the vaccine.
All I am really trying to convey is that people may have legitimately valid reasons for not getting the vaccine. Not only is it not right to harass people about the medical history (vaccine status), it is no one other than a person's doctor's place to ask them why they aren't vaccinated or anything else about their personal medical care. Unless it's an immediate family member or close friend you really shouldn't be asking or discussing it either.
For example, your coworkers medical information is none of your business and not your right to ask about.

I have a variety of autoimmune diseases including type 1 diabetes.
I also have blood pressure problems, severely high and low.
All of that and a ton of other major medical problems were caused by my multiple autoimmune diseases, and persist despite my incredibly healthy diet, and excersize and my young age.
With the exception of those COVID-recovered, since the advent of the vaccines, there has been three choices: early treatment, risk the vaccines, or do nothing, the last choice being quite foolish--and occasionally deadly. As a 65yo man, I prepared my body to fight COVID and availed myself to the most popular early treatment protocol. Of course it worked, my COVID-19 experience being a snoozefest.

I lost my sister to cancer about 3 years ago. It was hard to deal with her death because she was not that old. But I resign myself to it because there was nothing anyone could have done. All anti-cancer treatments had no effect. It's going to happen and you just have to deal with it. But the hurt, that feeling of great loss, is always there. I try to imagine dealing with her death when she could easily have lived just by getting a damn shot. That would be way too hard to deal with.
