Quote from Jimmy Page, "Alvin Lee is the only guitarist I,d pay money to go and watch".
Alvin Lee and Ten Years After were a great band. Sadly nothing today can compare to the music of those days
He is saying can't change the world ,but he is talking to the crowd,I leave it up to you,all of you ,all of us!
I'm glad to see this generation is listening to real music lol I'm listen to again crazy GOD bless you all
A classic I can remember this to the T.....OMG I'm 68 and still rocking with you right this second,
Guys you just listened to one of the greatest lead guitarist of the 60's and 70's. Now go and listen to Quicksilver Messenger, sing Take another hit of Fresh Air. Another great band.
The people that create wars are the same people that control the music. The 80s-90s was the last time when educated and talented people mass-produced songs that actually made the world a better place. The Powers that Be that Shouldn't Be know that music can assist in making the world a better place and that's what these people don't want.
He who saves a single life, also saves the world.
Love. THIS SONG. ALVIN LEE IS AWESOME THANKS
ALVIN, was, really, underestimated, probably, because, he played in an are, where you got so great guitar heroes and bands, but, he's in the top 20 of all time, easily! A good great monster,, playing incredible guitar, harmonica, singing, and giving everything he got into in his soul, each time he was playing! SERIOUSLY, ASK TO ANY MUSICIAN ON EARTH, GUITARISTS, OR ANY OTHER INSTRUMENTS, SINGERS, ANYBODY, PROFESSIONALS OR NOT, TO TRY TO DO WHAT HE DID, AT WOODSTOCK, IN THE SONG "I'M GOING HOME", AND THE WHOLE T'EN YEARS AFTER BAND, OF COURSE, IT'S, JUST, IMPOSSIBLE, TO BE SO CONNECTED, TO GIVE SO MUCH INTENSITY, IT'S MADNESS! IF YOU'RE A GUITARIST, LIKE ME, JUST TRY TO DO IT AND SING AT THE SAME TIME! RIDICULOUS, SO IT'S INCREDIBLE! Thanks guy, to react to so much good music! PS: SO, PATRICK, IS ON THE LEFT TIME, AND GEORGE ON THE RIGHT, AM I RIGHT? 😂PEACE FROM FRANCE COOL GUYS! 😎✌️👍🎸🇫🇷
first time i listened to this when it came out,i was hooked i still love it today, never gets old, like me.....yeah right, peace and love to all.lol
Ten Years After.... 50000 MILES BENEATH MY BRAIN!!
I love this song.
Decades old and more relevant than ever.
Ten Years After and Alvin Lee are a very very deep rabbit hole to go down...One of the greatest guitarists ever...!!
The guitar emotes desperation ❤ with the message and it flows like magic
Ohhhhh maaaann. Loved this song at the beginning when released. Still love it. Love this grp. So talented
50 years after, I'm glad you loved it, we should apply it to our lives.
The term “Classic” does not due this song justice.
This song is Iconic! 🎶🎸❤️
Agreed
Alvin lee was the best singer (and guitarist too)
When I heard this song fresh off the press, it immediately became my favorite song, and it went through my head all day long. I fantasized about the amazing guitar that must have been involved in the creation of this timeless, and very timely, classic. People really did give a shit about things back then. But you know what? You give a shit, and you are today, and I have seen many other good people sharing good music, who are not your competitors. They are your tribe. Many of the peace and love people of yesteryear, are still very much peace and love, and several generations of people are discovering these fruits of love, and loving them too. May peace prevail. Weave a critical mass. We've a critical mass. Peace. db
Things are changing.....they left it up to you......😘☮️❤️
AWESOME THIS SONG IS A FAVORITE !!!!!!!!!
Guitar Master MR. ALVIN LEE...!!! 🎸🎤🎼
Guys, it is so enjoyable watching some of your older reactions especially when we are missing you - (thank goodness we have them!). This is one of my favorite songs by Ten Years After. You are right - people have their priorities backwards these days making this song just as relevant as ever today. Thanks so much for posting this great tune. Love to you both and be safe💞
Legendary song. The great Alvin Lee. Ten Years After. Named for being 10 years after the birth of rock 'n roll. Seminal rock in the '50s and blasting out of Lee's guitar in the '60s as Ten Years After. RIP Alvin Lee
Brahs' Every single song coming out in the early 70's was a song of rebellion. We were trying to get out of Vietnam and it was a mess.
Saw Alvin Lee and 10 Years after in the early 70's in Tucson Az. Small Venue, close to the front, felt like I was a part of the concert.
Plenty of "Whiffs " and London fog in the air.
My reactions are the same as they were 50 years ago.
This song only made it to #40 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1971. Sadly, that's not a typo. Should've been a #1.
This song came out in 1971 just as I was getting out of serving in the U.S. Army overseas. It has a lot of meaning to me in many ways. The youth of my generation were sent off to fight wars that no one understood. We must not sacrifice our young men and women. They are the FUTURE.
One of the most underrated guitar players ever.
TEN YEARS AFTER, "I LOVE TO CHANGE THE WORLD"... THE GREAT ALVIN LEE GUITARIST WHO RECENTLY PASSED THIS PAST YEAR...YOU ARE BEING MISSED..
I think we have found Patrick's favorite band today.
I haven't seen Patrick get this excited in a song in a while!!
Ten Years After ... Fifty Years Later
RIP Alvin. Thank You!
This is a lovely song, to see this guy rock and play unreal electric guitar though, it has to be 'I'm Going Home' at Woodstock live!
One of my all time favorite songs. Beautifully written - music and lyrics....
One of the greatest guitar solos of all time. It chills to the core and withers the paint off the walls.
PERFECTION!
The guitar and drum work in this song is impeccable. An instant classic.
I hear this song and I’m transported back to my youth in the sixties, although this paticular song came out in 1972/73 i think. As well known as this song is now it only made it to #40 in the Billboard 100 in 1971. It was written and sung by guitarist Alvin Lee. It’s been in many movies and tv shows. When I think of Ten Years After I think of Woodstock and them playing “I’m Going Home” and Alvin Lee playing his guitar like it’s on fire. The group was formed in 1966. They took their name because it was 10 years after what they considered the birth of rock and roll. The band didn’t play this song live while Albert Lee was a member, as he felt trying to re-create it on stage would be “too restricting.” So nice to hear this ''awesome song'' again. Another anthem for all times. Thanks for the posting guys. How did i know you were going to love this song.?? lol
So much honest soul. It's amazing how one song can answer the emptiness. Thank you for carrying it forward.
Having grown up with music like this, it makes me happy to see so many of these young folks finding again.
Props to the drummer as well.
Brothers, I got chills watching you get chills from a song that's maybe 50 years old, part of my youth and the two of you from halfway around the world. Thanks for your openness and honesty.
What I would give to hear an 11 minute extended version of this song. That solo.
RIP Alvin Lee. One of the true greats. Famous for his lightening speed, but under-recognized for his deeply soulful playing. Listen again to his playing on this near-perfectly constructed song. His electric work responds to and amplifies the words. His guitar screams, cries, pleads, searches and yes, is angry at times - makes me cry a little every time. When he wrote it there was surely a desperation and loneliness and futility that we all feel, yet after he wrote it - his gift to us - has helped change the world. My prescription: find someone you disagree with and ask to hug him/her.
Hauntingly Beautiful 🔮
I heard somewhere that after the last line, "So I leave it up to you" someone whispers, "and good luck" this is in the album A space in Time.
One of their best songs😊
Is this not the one of the most honest lyrics you ever heard? We, as citizens, have no direct way to change the world, but we can do a little bit, each day, in our personal interactions. You are totally right about the power of music to bring people together - You guys do it everyday in your reactions.
I don’t remember if I told you this before, you are helping me through a very difficult period. I lost my wife in July and reactors, like you, are really make me feel a connected with other music lovers. You always get the music. Keep on rocking and stay safe.
Think Globally
Act Locally
Gives me the chills each time I hear this song. This one is in my playlist and I go back to it again and again. Love watching you discover this song! 🎶
Alvin Lee was the lead vocalist for Ten Years After. Love his voice.
Shout out to Ric Lee the drummer. He is really supporting the guitar.
Thank you Bros...I grew up with this music....I so happy that younger generations can dig in and respect the early rock.... don't stop now, love you guys, peace.
This song is so relevant now!!! The 70's music brought lots of issues into the light!!!💜🤟🎼🎶🎵
You’re right guys. Commentary is right on.
Thank you. You really got this song's essential message 👏
Well, again. My youth.......I really appreciate what you two do........
This song is timeless and it shows that as much as the world changes, there are things that never do
You guys.....you're both changing our world....and I am so glad...happy...relieved and my soul is becoming satisfied in this Age....our Age of Aquarius.
Queen...live "who wants to live forever"!!!
Rip Alvin
Alvin Lee always was a “lightning quick” guitarist 🎸
True classic. Guitar work is impeccable. And yes, classic progressive rock brought a relevancy to popular music that has not been seen before or since. At least not on such a large scale. Not just political but introspective and philosophical as well. Poetic. Not to mention the brilliant musicianship that often came with by the artists themselves. Proud to have been part of a generation that recognized and helped propel such timeless and enduring artistry to such heights.
I'm pleased you like the song. I'm from those days. The meaning behind "I'd love to change the world but I don't know what to do, so I'll leave it up to you," is that in those days everywhere was filled with protesting, and what Alvin Lee is saying is, "Count me out. I don't want to spend my time and my life doing that. Sure, I'd love to change the world too, but I don't know how to fix things anyway. I'll leave it up to you."
I'll bet you would love Gutter ballet or When the crowds have gone by Savatage.
Alvin Lee. One of the greatest guitarists to ever hold a pick. Not to mention that this song is 50 years old and still holds true today. Thanks guys. That is all....................................
Well guys,. We sure as hell can't change the world right away. It took decades to get to this point. It will never ever be the same, I was born 1950. This music is so off the chain, these guys are speaking truth.👍👍💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞
Good song 🎵 👌
Yes. I bought this album back in the day
you guys should do some cream reactions!! amazing band !!! check out whiteroom, sunshine of your love, and tales of brave ulysess!!!!
Thank you.
Much respect to you guys!!
It is great to see your reaction! 😁
For more quality guitar work consider "I Don't Need No Doctor" (cover of a Ray Charles song) by Humble Pie on the album "Rockin' the Fillmore".
The bands of the day were socially aware.
Excellent reaction guys!
One of my favorite songs ever, the guitar is perfection, the lyrics are real ... love your reactions
Great song and message 💗. Been listening to this and the style since a kid.....I'd love to be part of changing the world 🤴🕊️
I've been a fan of Alvin Lee since a friend brought me his album in 1968. Underappreciated but revered by other blues guitarists. His fingers were so fast and he could sing and play flawlessly at that speed.
I love yall's enthusiasm for the music I grew up with, and also for acknowledging the social upheaval that was occurring in the late '60s and '70s. If you aren't familiar with what happened at Kent State University when 4 students protesting the war in Vietnam, were killed by the Ohio National Guard, read about it and listen to Niel Young's song Ohio, that he wrote in response. This event, to me, illustrates some of what was happening at the time. Love you guys.
That was awesome!! I love Ten Years After, you guys are my favorite reactions I really enjoy watching and listening to you both!! ❤️🤘🎸🥁🎧
Check out "Sugar the Road", or really any song from the Cricklewood Green album.
And my generation which includes you and James.....have done as much as we could do......so it is up to the next generation....
Greatest drinking song ever is One Bourbon, One Scotch, One beer by George Thorogood. Studio version
Estou com 64 anos e esta junto com outras canções dos TYA ainda despertam em mim sentimentos e muitas emoções. Banda que acompanhei ( idolatrei) desde a juventude...
Along these lines check out the Kinks "Apeman" and "Eve of Destruction" by Barry McGuire.
Eve of Destruction is a must!
Great reaction
Where have you two been? Living under a rock. How can you live here and not know this song.
I always thought this was a phenomenal and beautiful song, love it 😀 ❤
This song is timeless
Haven't listened to reaction yet and I'm giddy already. Staple of 70's fm music scene. Playboy rated Alvin Lee one of the best. Next must check out "I Woke up this Morning " . Monster guitar work.
Great reaction to a great song!
Thanks guys.
classic jam fellas...nice job
Thanks for bringing this song back to us and thanks for your review.
Just 'found' you guys. Keep rocking !!!
Dont forget to check out AlvinLee Bluest Blue. George Harrison plays a guitar solo then second one AlvinLee plays one. Its awrsome
Great job, my favorite brother reactors! It's always a pleasure to spend time "with" you both (indirectly...or otherwise, I'm quite certain). ✌️👍☺️👏👌
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Happy belated New Year to you and yours. (And the I hope you enjoyed the happiest times during [your] belated Holiday Season...and to those less fortunate than us elsewhere.)
Ciao!
Great reaction, guys, to such a beautiful song which is so relevant to the world today. Ten Years After had so many fab songs, with brilliant guitar solos from Alvin Lee. Try As The Sun Still Burns Away - it's one of my favourites with a really good bass line. Incidentally, have you heard of Rory Gallagher? Irish guy who was a fantastic blues/rock singer and guitarist from the 70s and 80s. A couple of examples of his songs are Bad Penny and Tattoo'd Lady. Great guitar solos. May I also suggest Shin Kicker, Rory Gallagher live at Montreux 1979. You won't regret it!!
Try 50,000 Miles Beneath My Brain
I love this tune. So fitting.
Great reaction. Knew you would love Alvin Lee's guitar and vocals. Really cool effect. Thanks for taking our suggestions and comments seriously. Appreciate you and your channel.❤🇨🇦
