This project feels like some lost myth, where the last responsible person doing all the drawings died - then an incomplete book is being released after their death with a few internal manuscripts with a huge fanbase behind it sticking together all the missing pieces.

My parents recently asked about this as if I was scammed lol. I was still in highschool when I backed this, now I'm in my last year of uni. It's crazy to think back at myself when I got onboard. Still, I haven't doubted that this would be finished, and this update really gives me confidence that I was right. Thanks for the honesty Chris.

I hate to be crass or "that guy", but thank you so much for accurately depicting the racial phenotype of of Hannibal Barca. Sick and tired of seeing him, his brothers, father and people as a whole as deepest darkest African.

Working together is though. Lloyd I don't think is experienced in this. Also, he seems a lovely guy but also kinda "on the spectrum" in a way that's not always the easiest to work with when compromises need to be made
@@maninalift yeah I think he can be tough to deal with if you're not enamored with him/ see the project with the same passion as him. First of all, I think Lloyd is the type to expect both from himself and others to be on buddy-buddy terms when it comes to project and finance -- to work many more hours than you could expect from a professional, for example "sure mate, I'll just pull an all nighter to finish our project till Monday morning" and except it to be done with highest effort and just enough budget to get by. My parents built their house pretty much on their own wherever possible and friends that were architects, painters and carpenters did work for just enough money to compensate their costs - it cost 250K with a lot of clever planning and support from friends and family, but I would expect it would be 400K if they did it normally and I totally see it being 550K or something if they just threw money at a contractor "just build it for us". I think the issue is that Llyod also has that mindset but you can't pull that off with a hired professional he'll expect more time and money to do it. Secondly, I feel like he can be very irritating when it comes to require changes for the 7th time.
TL;DR: Lloyd expects everyone to share his passion, he constantly bothers the guy with minute things and expects way too much for too little money for too high demands.

It is surprising to see that a guy like Lloyd who like to talk so much can’t put 200 pages together within half a decade!
I think he is pretty slow at editing, like with Guatemala there is a year's gap between the first and last video.
Nick Lloyd is a disingenuous man, who cares not for his reputation, a duplicitous individual whom hides behind his "Bumbling Hugh Grant" act.

Finally some good news. I have to admit I got really frustrated with Loyd for the huge delay. I hope this whole thing taught you about taking a book deal from someone with no real experience writing the format.

great, most backers probably forgot about it, lost interest or gave up hope, myself included. I still think it was a terrible idea to not give any updates since that none-update from Lloyd.

Working on yourself and staying creative is excellent advice. I have faith that you'll not only finish the project but that it will be out of this world as well!
Good on you for giving an actual update instead of Lloyd's wishy washy flowery arsewash he put up on the Kickstarter as the last 'update' on there. Might I suggest putting this up on the Kickstarter so people can get some actual information? I found this video through a Facebook shitposting page, of all things.
Lloyd did come off as suspicious.

I'm not surprised it's late. The Second Punic War is a gigantic chunk of History It would be like writing a graphic novel about the interwar period. Lloyd also seems tobe fastidious person particularly when it comes down to research. A good thing In a lot of ways when it's done but not before it's written haha Good luck with the graphic novel

It's so unreal this book is not done. The amount of mismanagement that went into the book being this late makes enron look like mcdonald's. How is this, I never in a million years would have thought Lloyd was the type of person to do a scam like this, I was so excited for this novel....we've been incredibly patient for this..
.at this rate my grandkids will be lucky to get this book before they die.

It's disappointing for sure. It is slowly inching towards the end though. It's a great project, and I want nothing more than to have it finished and out the door. My hands are tied and I hate it.
Im pretty sure i contributed on the kickstarter or whichever it was a a couple years back. I completely forgot about this !

Thank you Chris for this much needed update. Like everyone else I want to see more frequent updates and be kept in the loop. I pre-ordered my copy back in 2016, I can't wait to see your complete work. It looks amazing. You sir are a talented artist and deserve more praise and recognition. Keep up the good work.

If that's a reflection on the interest this Hannibal book currently enjoys it's going to splash egg on the faces of this honest-sounding artist and - Lloyd, who is increasingly beginning to take on the skin of an incompetent crap-artist. Which for me is a massive disappointment. His videos have drifted massively away from the sort of thing that pulled me in and made me stay, keen to miss none.
Then that began to degrade. And now - today - he's posted a near-hour's worth of junk about "magic". Which I listened to about 50% of before I just couldn't listen to another word.
And this makes me wonder how many of his million-plus subs are still regular listeners to his output.
And Chris, I don't think there's a single thing wrong with your presentation skills as in this video that I just found today October 1st 2021.

I am working on stuff too, trying to anyway during this time. I had an insane horror-nightmare and when I woke up just started writing everything down in detail and I think I can actually turn it into something. I am also reading Ballard's Highrise. Livy's books are looking down at me from the shelves too

@@lucascoval828 but at least with lloyd it will be much more historically accurate than normal works. and everyone who watched lloyd before knows how he can go into one rabbit hole after another while telling a story. actually its one of the points why i like listening to him.

I love Lloyd, and respect his attention to detail with history, but goddamn. Pushing on to six years for a graphic novel *has* to be considered unreasonably overdue.
