But, this study is clearly helping you (and me) think about the card meanings and discovering new perspectives. About the sphinxes in the chariot card: I read somewhere that they represent contradicting forces that when not managed leads to standstill. In many depictions you don’t see the chariot in motion and the sphinxes separated. In this deck, they are stating to merge and come together. Depending on context it could be about integrating our inner masculine and feminine sides, our light and dark sides, our polarities. Integration means working together to create movement. As for the Hermit the numerology is what strikes me. 9 is about attainment, but doesn’t necessarily mean fulfillment that is seen in the 10’s. The hermit has attained enlightenment as indicated by the star light in the lantern. Fulfillment comes when he can share this with others. Spread the light, let it shine for others. In a reading, the question could be asked, “Where do you go from here with this enlightenment?” As always, thank you both for the time you’ve put into this study, into making these videos, and inviting me into the discussion. Generic is a perfect description of not only The Lovers card but, for me, the whole deck. That opinion mighy change if I had a chance to read the guidebook or knew more about the artist.
I am still getting to know this deck, but I have used it to determine what the “focus” should be. It is like using a narrow lens to view the issue/problem/question.
