calendly.com/taylor-functiona... J.M.J Feeling lost in life is a common dilemma we all face. There's always more to do. There's always the next "big thing" that we chase. We get some sort of satisfaction for a while, but then it fades away.
Why are we like this?
Human beings are made for worship. This is why all cultures have some sort of deity that they follow. Even since ancient times, people have tried to comprehend their existence by following a religious set of beliefs. If you lack a religion, the only person you're left to worship is yourself. Your own pleasures and your own desires.
This sort of belief is like building a house on sand. You and I are unstable creatures, we make mistakes. We can become flaky. We are greatly limited in our abilities.
“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God, believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.”
Thomas said to him, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?”
Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."
(John 14:1-6)
Jesus gives us the answer. If we follow Him, we will have a more fulfilled life. Will there be suffering along the way? Yes. He tells us that as his disciple, we will suffer. But Christ gives us meaning in our sufferings.
Whenever I suffer, it's a reminder that my life on earth isn't supposed to be perfect. It's a reminder that I was made for heaven.
