I've ordered one .would be rude not to at that price [£88].Looks better every time I look at one and yeah those pick ups sound absolutely fine and cant see a need to upgrade .

Is there any distortion pedal needed to produce that metal sound or is that straight out of the box?

Yeah you'll need a pedal or an amp that has distortion to get a high gain or distorted sound from this.

How can Harley Benton make these cheap guitars better than other big factory's guitars at this price?

They order enormous quantities so they're able to keep the prices down. Most other companies just aren't able to place such big orders.
