Thanks so much man :)
I bought this exact model, based on your review and the look of it. I have never touched guitar before, in my 40 years of age, but it really keeps me picking it up, every day after work, even if it's for 10-15 minutes, to practice and learn. Thank you.
Just got a used HB. It was truly love at the first sight. It looks and feels gorgeous in the hands. Years ago I had a Strat and and Gibson Explorer. In terms of build quality would say that this guitar tops them both.
Deserves more views - very nice guitar and skillfully played.
I have the ST-20HH which is phenomenal even without any upgrades. I've now ordered the MB4 SBK bass which has awesome reviews and matches the colour scheme of that tele.
Good review and great playing - I bought one about 1 year ago and pretty happy with it... bought a second a month ago because I wanted to do big modification to convert one to a travel friendly guitar, cutting the body down. The main basic adjustments I would do to standard model is modify body with bellycut, round over the edge a little more for my fore arm, and round off the metal bridge ends. These mods would make it more comfortable to play for longer periods.
After doing massive mods on the body , headstock etc including all of the above and more- I put it all back together and it set it up again with no problem - the only downside is neck dive as the body was reduced by 30% or more - the neck is heavy... still sounds good just feels more comfortable in the hands. For under 100 euro it was a win in standard form - and as a modified guitar there is no risk so you can really go to town. The thing that makes this guitar good are the string through bridge that keeps it in tune for long periods, compact tuners, small cavities, simple electronics, bolt on neck and cheap price the ideal candidate for custom body mods.
I ordered this and another HB tonight and I'm excited!
Great stuff ,this video helped convince me it was a no brainer for £88 .I was pleasantly surprised at the feel of the neck nearly as nice as the roasted maple neck on ,my Jet JT350 .Frets are a bit rough and ready but still not bad for the price and may well follow your example and sort them out .Cheers great tips .
I`m a bass player and bought the HB ST20-HH and was impressed and now I`ve heard this one I might get it as well, subbed to the channel just for the HB love.
Thanks for the sub!
Recently found your channel and love it!
After adjusting the action you _should_ re-intonate the guitar if we're being picky. It's not much, but yes, it's now 'out', and we're all chasing perfection for a price aren't we?
Regarding cheap guitars, CNC was the best thing to ever happen to the guitar industry as is demonstrated by the quality of the instruments compared to what I bought for a first guitar in 1980.
It was a black Mann (Ibanez lawsuit guitar) Les Paul copy that I wish I still had as now I have the experience and skill to put it into playable shape. At 14 I learned about neck shims lol.
Great review, and obviously no one will play like that on piece of crap, but for the price there's hardly anything not to like.
That's some sick playing! Buying this guitar now, since it looks and sounds amazing. Can't believe it doesn't cost more! Thanks for sharing this video :)
Hows your experience with the guitar so far?
Its a great soundig and looking guitar. im a big fan of harley benton guitars.
and a great video by the way 👍🏻
Thank you Jake, great review especially as I have just bought one.
Ah you’re welcome. Thanks for watching! Are you enjoying the guitar?
That guitar is gigable and player's well. I like it, I don't know of anyone who tried it but me, I think it's nice and durable. I play mine at any gigs. Nice review.
Thanks so much!
got mine yesterday, one of the best really low price guitars i have played in a while. indeed had to adjust the action quite a bit. but after that it was good to go
Congratulations on your channel
I recently grabbed it's bigger brother, the Fusion T, and apart from polishing the frets and tossing on my preferred EB Hybrid Slinky's it has been perfect. Punches WAY above its weight.
Got one and love it! Though did let the modder in me out because it was so cheap! New Tusq Xl black nut, locking Tuners and seymore Duncan pick ups and it's a dream for the price! Quick set up out the box and it's great, mod a bit and it's better than things 10 times the price or more. Though I've always been of the opinion that a 35k guitar can't be 100 times better than a 350 pound guitar so take that as it is.
Just discovered your Channel, mate. I've always been a massive Harley Benton fan. I recently got the Amrok 6 string Baritone. I reckon your channel is about to blow up! :)
I really want to try one of those out! Hopefully I can get my hands on one soon. Thank you so much, that’s a really great thing to hear and you’ve made my day! 😊
I have this guitar and I love it. It's an amazing deal.
I wish I had the strat version of this as a kid, lol. Hype instruments.
This could be neat to upgrade afterwards with locking tuners, maybe new pickups and/or pickguard although the color is growing on me watching you play.
seeing him reach for his whammy bar is funny, so much muscle memory haha
Tremendo sonido y eres muy buen músico y tienes un gran canal,
Very good and great music men 👍🤗
Salutes from Spain!!
I’ve just ordered one and, first job will be new strings. I do have some ‘bits’ lying around so I may upgrade the pickups (and have a P90 at the neck) and the tuners but I doubt I’ll do much else. Looks killer as it is.
Yeah I got the same one and it's awesome
Sold. I'm getting one!
Bought 2 other HB teles after watching reviews, love them both! Only my old 90s EVH Wolfgang could compare... And now those cost nearly 10x as much.
I have the Tele hh. It's outstanding. I'd definitely play live with it. In all honesty, a little setup and it's ready . There's nothing wrong with the tuners or pickups. Chinese pickups are fine, guitar tech is ww2 radio parts.
@@BOBANDVEG Thanks. Reinforces my decision.
Great job!
Thank you!
I subbed to your channel.🤘🏽
Nice playing!
Thanks man!! 😊😊
I've watched four reviews with quite different style players (the Guitar Bonedo guy looks like a pro) and every one of them has produced an impressively wide range of tones! How many effects/channels did you use? What does it sound like unplugged?
Really thinking about getting one. I’ve wanted a guitar I can mess around with setting up, I’ve never done it. Think I can learn how to work on guitars with this one…
This is what I got and it had a broken pickup (somewhere inside) and bc of that it cut out whenever the slightest touch on the pup. Also it had seriously terrible noise too. It was B-stock so it should've checked even more before reselling. Sent it back via 30-day trial period. Just get an R446 instead.
I kinda wanted to get it just for the times people come over and wanna jam and not having to use my expensive guitars, also I never seen it selling for 100 bucks it's always 200 and up so for that I'll get an Ibanez GIO which can actually throw down with the right amp and pedals.🤷♂️
Great review 👍 which song was is at 5:45?
Thanks!
Harley's are always great 👍
Thanks for checking it out Mike 😊 It’s definitely looking that way!
ive got this one as my first guitar, i play for a year now. But ive got some thigs to say for my piece. When i tried to adjust trusss rod, i cracked some paint, some crackles appeared around frets as well. Screws on the bridge started rusting, but i got some agressive sweat , so thats expected. Buts my main concerns are neck pickup and frets. Sometimes i gets no signal from it and frets are on sharper side. But overall, i think that for the price its solid choice.
Btw love your playing.
You need to level your frets and most likely resolder a loose wire, and when cranking your trussrod, put a cover over the headstock, and have the body on a foam floor mat
i really want one
I’ve got one of these guitars , what strings would people recommend for use with standard tuning , ( I’m just a no nothing newbee) cheers 👍👍🤠🎸
Hey man! Between this guitar and Harley benson SC-450 plus VB Vintage series , which is better? Please give me an answer. I need it!!!
Guitar is decent and your guitar skills are amazing. Great review. ( 04:01 Did u go for a trem there on accident? xD )
Thank you so much!! I really appreciate that. Yeah, I absolutely wennt for the trem 😂 It gets me every time on hardtails, it's really funny that you noticed. Thank you for the comment!
could i pick it up and play this completely stock?
What is the rig at 4:54 ? It sounds very similar to Red is the new black by Funeral for a friend
Try something from the harley benton sc series. Would love to see you critique on them
Hey! Thanks! I actually recently tried out the SC450, it up on my channel. Really great guitar! 😊
@@JakeLeighGuitar damn! Right away! Thanks for the amazing content👌🤘
"So lets hear how to it sounds"
*proceeds to absolutely shred*
Thank you for the review. I'm on the fence between getting this HB model or the JA model in matte black. How would you describe the neck profile on this? I think they call it a C profile, but is it a thin C or medium, or chuncky C? Thank you.
You're welcome and thanks for the comment! The TE-20HH I had was very chunky, it was much chunkier than I was expecting. I have the active ST and it's a much smaller neck, I think that's the same one they're using on the matt black JA. I also have a standard JA and that neck on that is much less chunky too. Hope that helps!
You can try Soloking Guitar
That was a great metal demo!! What tuning did you used for that?
Thanks so much! I was tuned to drop C for the demo 🤘
@@JakeLeighGuitar Great!! Do you think that guitar can hold even lower tunings? Like drop B or drop A?
@@ludwig3244 definitely. Many seven strings have the same scale length.
@@ludwig3244 to help with gauges, I'd say drop A at 25.5 scale could be anywhere from 10-54 to 12-62
To me 10-56 is enough.
I looked at some of those guitars. the only problem Shipping is almost as much as the guitar to get one in the States. And for that cost there are other brands in the price range. I wish shipping cost wasn't so high I would love to try one.
I hear ya on that... I miss the 30 dollar shipping days. Lately though I either go in with others or buy a few at a time.
Exactly like an Ibanez GIO, I had to buy a guitar on tour because I destroyed my RG in a drunken rage at a Grindcore show. Sounded close to the RG ,was lighter and played heavy AF. I still have it till this day because I got attached to it during that tour.
If you were to change the pickups, what would you choose for this guitar?
To be honest I'd probably go for a set of EMGs. 81, 85 maybe. I find they sound really good in cheaper guitars, plus it has the quick connect system so I wouldn't have to spend any time soldering. But I'm lazy.
Just subbed. Man, your "demo" was outstanding. Your playing is incredible. And the tones demonstrated here made me purchase this guitar.
Do you do sound demos of your presets or amps by any chance?
Happy to be here man!
I have the same guitar and upgraded the bridge pickup with rail hammer anvil. It sound better but I guess that’s where tone wood comes in place.
My Indonesia Squire Tele;
1st; R and R fret wire to Jumbo SS. $500+ (robbery) nut too.
NEXT; tuners then electronics / bridge.
Can you please post tabs on 4:54 and what song?
Hey man, thanks for you’re interest in the song! It’s a track called Break Free that I wrote in about 2006! My band Repair To Ruin are overdue to release a version, I’ll let you know when we do. 😊
Harley Benton ST-20HSS Standard SBK Bundle
Put black invader pickups in it!
Are the frets stainless steel?
Not on this model unfortunately. They're usually available on their $200 and upwards models though
there's always a catch for low priced guitars, it needs setups before using. One skill that I don't have
That's definitely not the case only for cheap guitars. Just like the dude above said, even 1000$ and above guitars need a setup of some sort
Watch you tube videos, I even learned how to adjust floating tremoloes, and that still drives me nuts but I'm capable of doing it.
Easy skill to learn. It's all on CZcams
You should check out the gear4music own brand I think it's better. subzero, LA guitars, new Jersey , Knoxville , Seatle , Hollwbody, Brooklyn.
Grava um vídeo apenas som Clean, pra ver a Chiadera kkkkkkkkk.
Mine is no longer stock. Lol
Wow man, you're an incredible E string player.
Bought the same model Mar 2022. It was absolutely horrible. The one I got was string through rear of the bridge. Not string through body as advertised on the Thomann website. The frets looked like it had been dressed till there was almost nothing left. Took it to a respectable luthier to have it set up because if high action. His advise was to replace the frets. Only good thing to say about this guitar is that the pickups are pretty decent. This thing is hit and miss or they send only the shit ones to africa.
What are the chances to get this guitar with uneven frets if i buy it at a local store?
Thanks!
You're welcome! Thanks for the comment
