    i was in the stands watching the match between Nadal and Djokovic that lasted 4 hours and three minutes. About half of that time was spent bouncing the ball by either player. There were no time limits for serve back in 2009, so they both bounced the ball silly. When they finally threw the ball up for the serve, the poor ball didn't know what was happening. Nadal was so worn out the next day in the final against Federer that it was just a two-set affair for the Swiss player.

      While I am in awe of their accomplishments, I feel not enough people talk about this aspect of Novak's and Rafa's game. Their 6 hour match in 2012 AO might've been compressed to 4.5 hours if it wasn't for the excessive ball bouncing. Also, I think the extra recovery time this gives them has allowed them to chase down balls throughout their careers others may feel reluctant to, if they keep in mind they have just 30 seconds to get the next point going.

      @Jek Pacito I can back you on that. It makes it so much more better in every way. But unfortunately with the way things are evolving were more likely to see it being a a best of 3 Fast4 with a 10 point tiebreak.

      @bodzarnpertrvick2869 Před 3 lety

      @Jek Pacito still tho if theres a best of 5 in the final depending on how you perform most likely youd barely be able to play tommorow. So either the schedule changes (for example madrid and rome were week after week, imagine playing five sets sunday to be back on court in a different city playing another match monday)

    • @SJ-di5zu
      @SJ-di5zu Před 3 lety

      As great of an idea it is as far as entertainment and giving the title to the more deserving player, best of 5 Masters finals are exhausting and would likely result in the big 3 skipping tournaments or jeopardizing their chances at a bigger title by playing a marathon Masters final. What if Nadal and Djokovic played a 5 hour final at Rome and were both tired for the French Open? Not to mention all of the matches before the final are played without a day of rest, which would make the Masters tournaments grueling. There’s pros and cons, but I think the ATP schedule is already too crowded and making finals best of 5 would just serve to make it more crowded and discourage the best players from playing more.

    Minor quibble, Tennis TV: they didn't return to red clay because "blue" clay is inherently slippery. They contracted a new clay manufacturer that year and the surface was bad due to the nature of the clay itself. Going back to red was just because the PR fallout from it was bad

    • @kabob21
      @kabob21 Před 3 lety

      Blue clay was just regular clay with a blue dye. It's not more inherently slippery than red because it's the same clay. They just messed up the ratio of sand to gravel when laying the surface down making it more slippery than normal. Quoted from the tournament owner, Ion Tiriac.
