i love how the *last frontier* for nalbandian at the time... was the oldest of the GOATS. the one who's had to deal with the other two the longest. so easy for new fans to forget this time in the sport. i never will. easy fave.
4 Hours for a two setter ?! Amazing
The young Kyrgios was much fun, and less argumentative ! He is definitely a talent hub !
Nalbandian also beat Del Potro in that title run…..The only player ever to beat Big 3 in a single tournament…..Berdych came close in Wimbledon 2010 though….Beat Fed and Nole but fell to Rafa in Final….
DelPo (still good but back then he did not have that forehand) and Berdych, that run is special
The GOD of clay
I keep Nalbandian's. That was a true feat. Like plugged inwith a Neo's super tennis chip.
Who was the kid who stalked Nadal? 😂😂😂
If I'm not mistaken, that was his nephew 😂
I can't believe Madrid 2005 is Rafa's only indoor title (though technically the 2020 FO final was indoors too).
For a moment I was thinking why there are so many people in the crowds and why aren't they wearing mask? Man, I guess this is the new normal.
Can anyone tell me the music at 15:20. I just can't find the music of ATP anywhere :(((
That Roddick moment, always funny
i was in the stands watching the match between Nadal and Djokovic that lasted 4 hours and three minutes. About half of that time was spent bouncing the ball by either player. There were no time limits for serve back in 2009, so they both bounced the ball silly. When they finally threw the ball up for the serve, the poor ball didn't know what was happening. Nadal was so worn out the next day in the final against Federer that it was just a two-set affair for the Swiss player.
While I am in awe of their accomplishments, I feel not enough people talk about this aspect of Novak's and Rafa's game. Their 6 hour match in 2012 AO might've been compressed to 4.5 hours if it wasn't for the excessive ball bouncing. Also, I think the extra recovery time this gives them has allowed them to chase down balls throughout their careers others may feel reluctant to, if they keep in mind they have just 30 seconds to get the next point going.
Nalbandiab beats 3 greatest players of all time in a row
What a pretty ballgirl. Djokovic had last smiles there😄
Had Shanghai not replaced Madrid as a hard court Masters 1000, the 2012 final of Djokovic-Murray would have featured in the top 3.
El Rey David
If Tennis just had another Nalbandian, the next gen would be in serious trouble.
4:32 : Murray already making lobs and djokovic already having problems with smatches
He's mad enough to want to smash the racket more, but not mad enough that he doesn't realise he might get a double warning. What a professional...
Nalbandian beating 3 🐐.
Man that shot from Monfils...
nalbandian GOD
ATP should hear us.
We want best of 5 sets finals on Masters Series.
Players don't, I think
@Jek Pacito I can back you on that. It makes it so much more better in every way. But unfortunately with the way things are evolving were more likely to see it being a a best of 3 Fast4 with a 10 point tiebreak.
@Jek Pacito The problem is that a 4/5 hour final could be very tiring.
Big players for sure would vote against
@Jek Pacito still tho if theres a best of 5 in the final depending on how you perform most likely youd barely be able to play tommorow. So either the schedule changes (for example madrid and rome were week after week, imagine playing five sets sunday to be back on court in a different city playing another match monday)
As great of an idea it is as far as entertainment and giving the title to the more deserving player, best of 5 Masters finals are exhausting and would likely result in the big 3 skipping tournaments or jeopardizing their chances at a bigger title by playing a marathon Masters final. What if Nadal and Djokovic played a 5 hour final at Rome and were both tired for the French Open? Not to mention all of the matches before the final are played without a day of rest, which would make the Masters tournaments grueling. There’s pros and cons, but I think the ATP schedule is already too crowded and making finals best of 5 would just serve to make it more crowded and discourage the best players from playing more.
20:03 wtf is wrong with that kid
😂
I want to say that was his nephew, you know how kids don't get context 😂
Nothing wrong bro... He likes rafa... Nothing wrong in expressing your love that way to his most favourite player...
@@vijayendranvijay4538 that's his nephew
@@legoatjames5723 Rafa has no nephews! He’s got one sister and she doesn’t have any children even now, let alone in 2009
Nobody hit the ball like Nalbandian, criminal he never won a grand slam!
Anyone else feel like there could be a surprise winner this year? It’s probably Nadal’s weakest clay tournament and Thiem has just got back from a long break so he needs to find his form. Aside from Tsitsipas i don’t see any of the next gen as favourites to win it
I think there’s a solid chance for tsitsipas to win if nadal doesn’t, but I could see medvedev rublev or sinner winning under the right circumstances

Federer n aurait pas autant gagné face à toi
Et les autres non plus
Have you given me a warning yet? No, I will give you no...smash, smash and smash more...just timeless really!! :-D
No David Ferrer retirement match and ceremony?!
I feel like Dimitrov win on Djokovic in 2013 should have been there, considering how thirlling was this match
If we speak what could have been there - just as a bonus - for me it would be Gilles Simon's atomic forehand. Just as a bonus at the end of the video :)
The kid is lucky
RAFA FINAL 2009🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🤯🤯🤯🇷🇺👍
nalbandian should benn number 1

Did ATP tournaments used to be best of 5 sets before? Nadal was down 2 sets already
Minor quibble, Tennis TV: they didn't return to red clay because "blue" clay is inherently slippery. They contracted a new clay manufacturer that year and the surface was bad due to the nature of the clay itself. Going back to red was just because the PR fallout from it was bad
Blue clay was just regular clay with a blue dye. It's not more inherently slippery than red because it's the same clay. They just messed up the ratio of sand to gravel when laying the surface down making it more slippery than normal. Quoted from the tournament owner, Ion Tiriac.
Madrid was a 3set tournament wow I didn't know that
they all were
@@robinsoncruise2228 wow.
@@undergroundkid8337 yeah pretty crazy stuff
all masters tournaments were played bo5 in finals.
@@plushkaplushov115 oh yea just the finals
Djokovic and Andy so much better hitting at age of 19 no defense only
Rafa is the greatest player ever

PABLOOOO
We need a clown for this circus.
Man, Roddick has been gone for sooo long.....
Nalbandian was amazing at Madrid. But to say it has never been done is not completely true.
I know Medvedev didn't kick out Fed at the ATP World Tour Finals but he beat Zverev, Schwartzmann, Djokovic, Nadal and Thiem in one Tournament.
Thiem was 3 at this time so he beat Nr. 1/2/3 and all of them are Top 10
Did you even read what was written? It said big 3 not world 1,2 and 3.
@@sayansingha8474 yeah misread that! Thanks for the reply 👍🏻 Still great achievement from both! :)
Defeating Zverev, Schwartzman and Thiem is no achievement at all.
Why is Murray destroying Nadal not on this list?
destroying ? 6-0,6-0 ?come on thats the period beween 15-16 ,infact ndal lost to more players in clay....
not really that unforgettable
Because it wasn't Nadal, but the shadow of him.
Why some matches in Madrid were 3 sets And some matches in 5 sets?
the tournament used to be a 5 setter, but in 2006 they changed to a best of 3 sets
@@pauloceolin thank you. And was it same at other Masters tournaments?
@@TheBlbounek yes
dimitrov beating djokovic or tsistipas beating nadal shud have made it to the list!
Que payaso que era Nadal en ese tiempo... ahora esta un poquito mejor
