Messi has had his fair share of rough tackles since his debut but what makes him special is that he doesn't go down easily even if he is tackled really hard.

@@davidschmidt1793 Nah, you just didnt watch Romario's best years in PSV and Barcelona. He was also a beast, had more technique than Ronaldo, depended less on his physical form. Ronaldo was phisically gifted (despite his injuries). Romario was better in dribbling and finishing, and had pretty decent speed before he got lazy in brazil. Ronaldo was better in a "trequartista" function, he used to pick the ball in the mid to construct an opportunity, and had his body advantage combined with great indoor football skills (in brazil we have lots of great players in short dribble skills because we all start playing indoor, and receive indoor fundamentals). But as an attacker Romario was better. He was more maradonian and more complete. One thing that separates Romarios skill from Ronaldos is his ability to score head goals despite being short. Ronaldo, on the other hand, was awful in that. This illustrates the skillful class of Romario, and he was a fast player in his prime, picking the ball in the middle, but to make individual moves (like maradona) or serving his teammates in the area perimeter. Ronaldo could participate more, but Romario, in his function, was better.
