  • 5 MIN PRE-RUNNING STRETCHING. This is a super simple and compact 5-minute warm-up for runners to prepare your body before the next run. I recommend a short, easy, and slow run to warm up before you start the exercises. Take it easy, be mindful, and listen to your body. Like always: Nothing must, everything can!
    Overview of pre-running dynamic stretching exercises:
    Shoulder and Arm Circles / 30 sec.
    Chest mobility / 30 sec.
    Hip warm-up and Quad Stretch / 30 sec. per side
    Dynamic Low Lunge / 30 sec. per side
    Hip Circles / 30 sec.
    Dynamic Windmill / 30 sec.
    Side Low Lunge / 30 sec.

    I love this video! I just started a new fitness routine, and this video has been perfect before and after run/walks on the treadmill. I don't feel nearly as fatigued when I warm up and cool down.

    I have to say that first I was a bit doubtful if this was a good enough warm up for me because I'm used to mostly focus on stretching my legs before a run.
    But I tried this and for the first time in a long time my shins weren't hurting during the run. Like, no pain at all! I felt like running was easier and I could keep going faster and for a longer distance :)
    So, thank you for this video! ❤️

    I really want to get into running. At least a few times a week. I went running yesterday for the first time and then today (both times 3km, 30 min run/walk) and now my left achilles hurts, because I didn't think, that it would cause any harm, since I'm already kind of fit (I have daily PE classes) 😅 Oh boy, I was wrong. Also, I skipped warm-up and stretching because I was lazy. But I learned my lesson! 😂 As soon as my ankle gets better, I will get back to running. Of course, less intensive and I will use this routine beforehand! Thanks!

    This is very helpful, as track season has just begun for me! Just a year ago, when I first began track, I didn't have a stretching routine, so, when I did long distance, I felt very stiff. This year, I am going to use this stretching routine, along with one other. Again, thank you for posting this!

    I am 14 y/o and weighed 202 pounds about 1 month ago. I've been eating less and running everyday, and I've managed to lose about ten pounds. I do this stretch before every run, and I use your 8 min post-run stretch routine afterwards. I can safely say, it's helped my mobility and flexibility.

    I always am trying to find a good stretching workout especially for running since I am a distance runner and constantly workout. I have never found one that I liked or that was really effective, until I found Yoga With Lena. I enjoy her stretch workouts so much and they are VERY helpful.

    Isn't the recent research shown that pre run stretching doesn't add much valuve. Instead Lunges, squats, light jog helps more as a pre-run workout? Don't get me wrong ...I do this before every run and this is my go to 5 min pre-run video but my Garmin advice says otherwise. Pls help advice.
