One of the best Tomb Raider levels to date. I loved Area 51 when I was a kid, the whole mystery around what it was, and what was going on there? Remember finding the UFO and being totally blown away, felt like I'd found what no one else had haha.
Imagine having to work in this place. "How did jerry die again?" "He was wacked by an out of control hook off a railless platform 50 feet above a laser grid."
I always find retro level design so interesting. Rooms with seemingly no entrance or exit doors, switches that open floor hatches to the outside, etc. Like how do these people get to work each day?
As a Millennial who grew up with these games, I didn't notice or question that kind of stuff till I got older or unless an older relative pointed it out. Ngl, it makes me miss being young and naive. I was much more immersed in these game and didn't rely so much on suspension of disbelief.
The PS1 demo version of this was my first Tomb Raider experience. It's one of the best classic TR levels and started my love for the franchise. I remember the PS1 having dimmer lighting, which gave it a more interesting vibe and atmosphere imo.
I remember playing this stage as a demo when I was a kid😭 so crazy that I’m using this as a reference guide since the released the remastered version 🤓
yes they are and UAPs have always been here. "The phenomenon of UFOs does exist, and it must be treated seriously." - Mikhail Gorbachev "I can assure you that flying saucers, given that they exist, are not constructed by any power on Earth." - President Harry S Truman "I must admit that any favorable mention of the flying saucers by a scientist amounts to extreme heresy and places the one making the statement in danger of the excommunication by the scientific theocracy." - Frank B. Salisbury, Ph.D "I feel that the Air Force has not been giving out all the available information on these Unidentified Flying Objects. You cannot disregard so many unimpeachable sources." - Honorable John McCormack, Speaker of the House "I believe that these ET vehicles and their crews are visiting this planet from other planets, which obviously are a little more technically advanced than we are here on Earth." - NASA Astronaut, Gordon Cooper "I believe the American people are entitled to a more thorough explanation that has been given them by the Air Force. I think we owe it to the people to establish credibility regarding UFOs, and produce the greatest possible enlightenment of the subject." - Former President, Gerald Ford "Of course the flying saucers are real, and they are interplanetary." - Air Chief Marshall Lord Dowding "We have, indeed, been contacted perhaps even visited by extraterrestrial beings and the US government, in collusion with the other national powers of the Earth, is determined to keep this information from the general public." - Former Special Assistant to the Executive Director of the CIA, Victor Marchetti "I am convinced that UFOs exist because I have seen one." - Former President Jimmy Carter "It is time for the truth to be brought out, behind the scenes high ranking Air Force officers are soberly concerned about the UFOs. But through official secrecy and ridicule, many citizens are led to believe the unknown flying objects are nonsense. I urge immediate Congressional action to reduce the dangers from secrecy about unidentified flying objects." - Former CIA Director, Vice Admiral Roscoe Hillenkoetter
I only played this game and this stage on the PS1 demo which is a shorter version of the stage. Nevertheless, I got to say that this is the real video games, not some present day HD third person shooting games. In those days, with practically no online game guides (let alone CZcams videos), we just need to work out all the puzzles in the stage with our own heads. This is even harder when I played on the demo that cannot save. Touching anything that is an instant kill such as the train track or an unsuccessful landing on top of the UFO or not realizing I need to evacuate from the rocket launch means I need to try again the next day AND hopefully realizing what was actually wrong, if not solving it right the way. I even remembered it took around a month to just get through the part where you have to race the double button door behind the UFO...
I had the demo to as a child I must have been 8 or 9 I remember going to the windows where the sensors are and the guard getting pissed off coming trying to beat me up golden times i will remember forever 😂
Yeah.. playing this game back then is really difficult. I took some months to finish on ps1. But i only do because i bought a tomb raider 3 guide magazine lol.
They turned the gamma settings in the game really freakin' high. It completely obliterates the brilliant atmosphere of the game, in my opinion. The default gamma setting is 3, which is basically how the Playstation version looked, and it's absolutely beautiful!

Free willy is the best part

But Jerry's been dead for 51 years 😮

I always get Doctor Who vibes when I see the outside and inside of the UFO.
a proper british reference
The UFO in this game very much like the one in the flight of the navigator movie, same shape and very spacious inside!

Real
Can confirm. I just came from Uranus.
I don't get it. Where's the lasers ?
Would you mind if I used clips from your video for one I'm working on?
Lol, the button to launch the rocket is within the exhaust blast and would kill the person who pressed it unless they quickly run out of the way 😂😂😂
Can you get the MP5 in the South pacific or London? I forgot to get it and theres no restart level option on pc 😂

What if you dont kill the guard in time in the beginning before he turns on the beams?
14:55…. Can anyone tell me why those buttons??? There seems to be no reason to it… like how would u work that out without watching a vid like this
Hola ayuda dime xk cuando llego a querer entrar en ese lugar del inicio me sale unas rayas rojas que me matan??
You have the graphic settings so messed up, that the lasers don't even show up??? lol
How do u get the secret at 3:57? Whenever I try, it's closed.
You should kill the security agent in 3:32 before he locks the entries below
Wow such an awesome bright how tf? XD even with my max bright in tab or laptop can't reach this kind of clarity lol
