We have to remember that most martial arts experts are not in competitions or movies, they work as bodyguards and agents for very high salaries, being unknown is an advantage for them. These guys can beat up the olympic champion in karate without breaking a sweat, and while most are well below the level of Bruce Lee you still wouldnt believe how good they are. I knew one like that and he was in fact a martial arts actor in his youth, before moving on to politicians bodyguard. At a party he asked for volunteers to show a few simple tricks, i was stupid enough to volunteer and he beat the crap out of us with a heartily laughter, while he himself being quite drunk - he always filled his glass all the way up with pure liquor and shot it bottoms up, even at that he was unreal. Next level humans.

Fist of Fury in my opinion has the best story AND fight scenes. A story about the price of revenge, which results in the complete destruction of two schools, even though one didn't deserve it's fate. It's easy to understand the character Chens burning frustration at being despised, merely for sharing the same space as his enemies.
Im surprised you consider Way of the Dragon to have the best storyline; don't get me wrong it's a fun film and I like to watch it, but Ive always seen it as the weakest of Bruce Lees full movies. Assuming you didn't mean Enter the Dragon which is a lot of peoples favs (my second favourite after Fist of Fury).

The japanese teacher wasn't bad at all, but Bruce was too fast and explosive for him.
Was the teacher good? Do not make me laugh. Then in the late 80s when I was doing karate, his punches looked FUNNY!!!He actually did not deliver a single real blow, they are some kind of funny MOVEMENTS with HANDS and no less funny MOVEMENTS with legs.His karate causes nothing but laughter. It is clear why two of his best students immediately lost. In the 90s, those who practiced for at least a couple of years even sparred better.If in the 80s we watched with our eyes wide open when it just came to the USSR, then in the 90s such fights were a comedy.

This movie Fist of Fury is more than a bit historical, based on a time when the Japanese were brutal colonizers over the Chinese and treated them like 2nd class citizens on their land.
I was too young to knkw these things and the context of the movie when I first watched this flick in the late 80's, but once I learned of the history of brutal Japanse occupation , subjugatuon of certain parts of China, by imperialistic Japan, the movie made much more sense...
Definitely a slept on classic by the great Hong Kong producer Raymond Chow and of course the late great Bruce Lee.
``Sick man of Asia'' and ``Dogs and Chinese are not allowed'' are words used by Westerners to discriminate against Chinese .
At the time this movie was made, you couldn't make a movie about a Chinese man beating up a British man in British Hong Kong.
Therefore, the bad guys are Japanese. But thanks to that, it became a big hit in Europe and America. By the way, it was also very popular in Japan.
