One of my biggest disappointments, is the fact that these guys aren’t my local mower shop.I am from Ontario Canada,I have actually considered driving there just to fulfill something on my bucket list.I would love to thank them personally for all the enjoyment ,and knowledge they have shared. Thanks guys.
I’m right there with you my friend
You guys need to move like me, he is right down theroad now, Slippers is my new neighbor. Let's keep this between us for now...
My ''factory authorized'' Cub dealer is beyond pathetic. I watch Taryl and then tell the guy what's wrong and how to fix it. Numb nuts still can't do it. I'd pay a bundle to have someone like Taryl around. Thank you Taryl. I can fix it myself now.
@elaines domainI paid the local guy three hundred dollars,on three separate occasions to rewire my ignition switch.I was getting shocked when turning the key.He kept finding different things wrong, when I asked for my money back he got pissed.I reworked it myself with Taryls help cost me twelve dollars.
@@oxyfee6486 12 bucks? Good Grief! My Cub is under warranty. The Cub is good for the price but a bonehead dealer makes it suck and destroys the Cubs reputation. I found one problem that I'll fix because it' one bolt. Another problem is under 40 bucks. Good deal being able to fix it yourself.
You're the best small engine repair expert on CZcams. Thanks for all you do.
Taryl, I never thought I could sit through and hour and fifteen minute video! Your videos are not only informative but also entertaining! Keep them coming.
I didn't even realize it's that long!
Taryl, you have forgot more about engines, than i'll ever know. You are master mechanic sir.
This entire family is so very talented. Taryl is a genius in many ways. The level of production and the entertainment value of their presentations make them educational and very entertaining. I too would greatly enjoy meeting them and taking my mower to be fixed there. When my old 6.75 Briggs on my Toro finally gives up - I am going to take a trip to see them and have it rebuilt!! Ya it is 12 years old cranks every time by the 2nd pull and yeah i am keeping it till i go to the great lawn in the sky...
Another dinner served up. I can't get enough of your videos Taryl, I miss doing small engine work so bad. I had an injury back in Jan of 17 forcing retirement and haven't turned a wrench since. I'm thinking of doing a little at a small shop at my house, just so I can fulfill the urge of needing to do something. Love your work, a mechanic doing it right, the way I do every task I tackle. Do it right or do it twice. Sometimes they surge until put under a load.
Love Taryl’s channel! He has saved me (and by extension) my neighbors a ton of money over this past year!! Lawn mower engine problems (valve clearance was off), snow blower problems (one bad carbetrater and 1 bad auger belt), carbetrater on a Stihl chainsaw, fuel lines on a line trimmer and a rebuild of a Husqvarna backpack leaf blower (carbetrater again - I didn’t take good care of my stuff until Taryl’s videos).
Highly detailed “how to” videos mixed with comedy??? Yes Please!
Keep ‘em coming Taryl!
Better than any SNL skit over the past 2 decades, and I learned something. Keep up the good work Taryl
I'm addicted to Taryl videos. This Guy is amazing. My bucket list includes meeting Taryl.
Knowledge is power, and you dish it out perfectly. I wish more young people would watch all of your video's.
They just don’t care about learning how to physically work
Just play around and begging 🥺
Yeah I tell my friends to watch him I think we are the only 10th graders that may watch him in our school
I've been running a mid-sized Landscape construction Co for the past 35yrs
I really wish Taryl and shop were in a town near us in Mass. His great knowledge and work ethic make's his shop a rarity these day's.
Yo yo be old big toothed guy.. sitting back and enjoying.. nice to see junior doing something for a change
I learned more from this video, about small engine builds than any other video I've watched, and I've wached a lot of them! Thank you Taryl!
At 55:40; that is exactly what happened to me when rebuilding a GX120 recently. Found the cap on the floor, and remembered this video. Had no idea it had fallen off until then, and would have had me stumped. Appreciate the insight Taryl - you saved me on that one!
Man y’all are so realistic as to how mechanics really are. That’s why I do it myself!
I am a mechanic but i must say that i really appreciate the way this man simplifies some jobs that honestly reading a manual can even lose me especially with hydrostatic pumps.
This was a great video..love it when taryl talks in the voice of the viewer..mocking is where taryl shines best..
Sign of a great entertainer, mock the audience and they come back for more. Don Rickles comes to mind.
Taryl does it with love though..lol
@@dannylister558 no he doesn't....lol
@Charles Bale..I was being kind..lol
Another great video!! Thanks for not only showing us what to do, but telling us why we should do it!! Keep up the good work! I love your Channel!!
Thank you Taral for another rebuild. I like doing it myself but its always better watching a pro doing it.
When a fresh rebuild starts up on the first pull, you have done things right ..nice work boys...go get yourself a Hamm's...😎 Looking forward to the March fuels XP..!
I enjoy watching your videos. Your detailed and funny. I picked up a lawnmower on the side of the road and got it running from what I've learned from watching your videos
My grandson and I just love your show Taryl, please keep up the good works.!
Excellent video. I work on these a LOT and when they surge like that the carb usually needs a good cleaning. I learned stuff here though and really appreciate your work!!!!!! :)
Taryl's geometry lesson for the day: A complete circle is 360 degrees. Wrist pin holes are 180 degrees apart. You must be tired Taryl, or that Alberta clipper is affecting your computer brain. Great video! Thanks.
Took a double take at 90 degrees is opposite.
We knew what he meant.good lord,no one likes a Karen
@@stripersniper1531 Karen is a slang term for a white woman who acts entitled to certain privileges or special treatment and gets angered easily. The term is often used to criticize the behavior of self-absorbed white, affluent, and middle-aged women, but may also be applied to anybody being " extra ", or acting demanding and overly dramatic. You seem to fit that definition perfectly. A Karen is also someone who is always looking for an argument, can't think outside the box and realize that everyone may not have the same understanding as they do but insists on chastising others for trying to help. Very narrow minded, and opinionated with a big mouth trying to tell everyone else how to think.
I love watching the valve job every time!!
Oh and the ending was great 👍🏻
My new favorite episode, I have been waitin since 2013 for a Honda near Tarrel to breakdown. Wanting to fix mine for 25 years, hope it breaks down soon.
Awesome advice learnt a heap! I'm trying to read those letters and numbers on the engine block and it's been sitting out in the weather for so long I can hardly make them out. End scene very funny guys! Made my day:)
Great video. Very informative and appreciate you showing us what to look out for and avoid when working on small engines. Especially appreciate the end where you encountered surging - common issue these days as the eggheads in Washington prescribe emissions requirements that force stupid decisions. If I had a nickel for every snowblower an owner kept the choke on to eliminate surging I'd have several dollars. Not enough to quit but enough for another beer. 😁
You deserve much more appreciation from all internet guys....because of you , all secrets are blownd away
“I’m not going to put cheap parts in this it’s for a customer.” Amen Taryl,..Attaboy!! There’s a reason why those parts are so cheap (Made in China junk). It’s a Honda, use OEM or a good quality aftermarket and fix it right the first time.
Where do you think Stens is made ? It doesn't matter where it is made if it is to specifications. The lower end Honda engine is made in China as well, by Jling , or something to that nature. I believe it is the GA series.
You buy the quality you want from China.
You probably don't know, but people used to think the same about things "Made in Japan" just a couple decades ago.
"Made in X country" doesn't mean squat anymore, the quality is given by the price you want to pay.
@@GoldSrc_ Maybe??? Just because you pay more for something doesn't mean you get any better quality. I wish. I'm afraid those days are gone too.
@@camundson3 I'm pretty sure nuclear reactor parts made in China are of pretty good quality, but they're not exactly cheap lol.
But to bring things to a more mortal level, you can find suppliers of say LED lamps made in China that are actually pretty good.
And on the other hand, you get most of the ebay cheap stuff, so it's up to you who you do business with.
I love learning from your ways of fixing all these small engine, thank you for sharing with us 😃
i do too, he gives great tips
@@morbugs63 yea just a great teacher
I work at a shop, gotta love when the customer tries pulling that crap 😂 we record the date and Time of calls so we can prove to them
Right? I guess they think being a dick will get them a discount 🤷♂️
If it's legal where you are, record the calls too!
I don't know who agrees with me, but, Taryl is a DANG GOOD TEACHER!..................I'm almost 60 and had the mentality that old dogs can't be taught new tricks. I was wrong!.............Taryl has shown me all kinds of neat tricks and corrected me on some things I was wrong on. THANKS TARYL, KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!
Nice work Taryl! You're my fav fix it channel on youtube! I'm a mechanical engineer and always learn something in your video's, plus they are hilarious! I've been watching for years...you should have 10M subs by now. maybe do a few videos on car repair to get some eyes on your channel (like next time you replace the brakes on your car). There are car repair guys who aren't half as good with 2M subs. I'm sure you can repair anything with wheels and a motor. Boats / jet ski vids would be cool too. Anyway, it would make me happy to see you guys blow up, you deserve it. I think most ppl today just toss their lawn equipment and buy new. I enjoy the challenge of fixing stuff, or I would probably do the same as its not really worth my time to fix most lawn items like weed wackers.
Tighten it till the bolt snaps and then back it off one turn. Lol too funny. I want that on a shirt!
I used to say tighten til it starts to strip then back it off half a turn lol
I could watch all day. One of the top funny channels on CZcams. 🤣🤣🤣
Loving the total rebuild videos. Thanks for sharing
Seal-all is also good for stopping up pinholes in Briggs fuel tanks where the dimple below the carb in take is. Just dry the tank and pour in a blob of Seal-all. It'll level itself out. Let it dry and go to work. I just let a tank on a 5-horse Briggs on a wood splitter skin over in stead of harden all the way. Hasn't leaked yet. Has saved several tanks for me. Good stuff!
41:11 "...or just tighten it until the bolt snaps and then back it off one turn" 🤣
Thanks for sharing your platter of experience. I enjoy watching these.
Well, this one cracked me up! Well done Taryl, Junior and the imaginary twins.
Yep, even the good old Ford Kent series engines could throw up a few wild geese as well, but, it also led to some interesting permutations that in turn led to some potent little variants of an otherwise innocuous engine.
Great tips on the surging fix. Just what I was looking for. Thanks from England 👍🙂
Since I found your channel and subscribed. Love the entertainment, superior knowledge and excellent explanations. My "go to" channel!
Hey Taryl, I'm from Alberta. Your welcome for the Alberta clipper. lol. There's your dinner.
Thank you! Was looking for Info on what way the piston goes in and You answered my question! Thanks again for your great Informative videos!
Now that was dinner..you've been starving me with these shorties ...More Bloopers...🐴🐴🐴🐴👍👍👍👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
One of the best videos you have done Taryl ~ thanks
Thanks for the video Taryl. Best show on CZcams!
Tighten it until the bolt snaps and back it off one turn. I haven’t laughed that hard in a very long time!! I’m literally crying!
Some engines require you to torque it to a spec.then go another X amount of degrees further. I guess to stretch the bolt. Seems weird to me.
I've got two of these little Honda engines. One on a pressure washer and the other on a mower. I absolutely love them.
Have GX160 on a 20-yr old Bactelle Bros brush mower.
Thanks Taryl, great video used it to rebuild my Qualcast cpm 35 mower (Allett 14l) that had a Honda clone - Loncin 87cc engine - across the pond in London
This mans skills are truly legendary and very much appreciated..
Thanks again Taryl for the great info in hill billy. Testament to how well balanced those Honda engines are it didn't jump around much.
Thx from Eastern Canada ! My go-to for small engine repair and and good laugh!!!
Aircraft Mechanic> Taryl you would make a great recip. aircraft mechanic. Many of the procedures and techniques you showed in this video I would work and work to instill in my students in recip. class and lab. Great job. I taught for aviation mechanics for 49 years. What a privilege and a challenge. Over the years I have had 900 + aircraft mechanics on the missionary fields across the world.
I really appreciate you going through the part # segment. What a headache saver...!!! Not sure why Honda has so many variants. Thank you for the info on this video.
thanks for including how customers can be when it comes to repair and cost many dont understand how much time is spent finding good parts then waiting on them to arrive install them clean the engine and install back in the equipment...
I do love a good rebuild. Jr. Dactal ha ha ha almost fell down when Jr said that.
Good job Taryl This is the only way tor me to get the Torque numbers for the critical bolts. Thanks Spider.
Man been needing this for ever these lil motours are in everything
Another Albertan here, enjoy the Clipper, no charge. Thanks for the video, as usual I learned some more.
Great in-depth video! Thanks for sharing your knowledge!
I am watching from Alberta and enjoying a good snow storm as we speak. My mom told me to share and I am glad to do so LOL.
I am watching from Woodstock,Ontario near Toronto and the snow is almost gone.
This skit made me giggle. Good Job crew
Good Mornings ya guys are the best fixer uppers
Thanks for the info on how to look up parts. Sadly, propartsdirect did not have my Briggs engine listed but I was able to find ereplacementparts and get the correct piston assembly and gasket kit for my mower. It's a 2016, so most parts are out of stock.
Thanks Taryl, After the Freeze 2021 Houston.. My 6.5hp Generator lost all Compression, Broke valve...
Thanks for All the Information in This Video is was able to Rebuild it myself..
Thank You Sir..!!
Freaking awesome !!! Always looking forward to the next show !
Just an idea , have you ever done a zero turn hydro pump rebuild show or maybe a how to increase spark on a v-twin horizontal kawasaki ?
Great job I love the wiring job you did on your little buggy there great video 👍
Awesome rebuild Taryl thanks for sharing
man i really like your videos what yall do is give good advice and yall are super funny keep up the great job .
Thank you so much gentleman had a late dinner but I watch it 😁😁
I appreciate the videos . Every one has a favorite Honda is one of mine. I have done the enlarge the idle feed on carb before . The cam believe it or not SS has them on the Harley engines . My 145 inch with 12.2 to one compression compression has the 640 ez start cams . Would be no way unless you have compression release in the heads . I got a couple of mowers I going to re ring this year so I used your web sight for information.
You're left handed !!! Great information. Looking up parts is the hardest part of the job.
I loved the ending! I'll be LOL the rest of the day.
I got the transfer pump off the website and love it. Great for fueling mr heaters in shop!!!
You are my Idol. Thanks for all the videos . Also from Ontario, Canada.
I watched this with my 5 year old daughter and you were scaring the hell out of her with the scary music trying to find the right parts! I almost had to turn it off. Scary stuff ordering the wrong parts!!
Great job on this Honda. Thanks Taryl
You are fantastic, funny as heck and KNOWLEDGEABLE.
Great content-
Well done. Lots of great info. Thanks Taryl.
ThanksTaryl I'm working on one of these on a air compressor same carbenator problem. Central California watching
High quality engine, survived really well given the abuse it received. Great vid, thanks 👍
Pumped to watch this rebuild video!
How could anyone dislike Taryl and co’s videos? Funny, informative, helpful, and trying to save ya money and hassle! Ungrateful knuckleheads!
Probably a mistake. I tried to hit the like button but my clumsy overgrown thumb hit the dislike, had to remove the dislike and like it instead. Maybe the other knuckleheads just didn't notice they hit the wrong button
Fantastic rebuild - thanks Grass Rats
Love these guys. Awesome as usual. Great video
Great job Taryl. I really enjoy watching you. Your knowledge and years of experience shows. The way you handle yourself around an engine doesn't go unnoticed.
Awesome and funny video guys!!! Can’t wait till the next one 👍🏻
Great help, Taryl ... Thank you for this video.
the bloopers are great! please put them in your videos!!
That 160 or 200 Honda engine is the best small engine on the market in my opinion. They are fitted to almost everything these days. Easy as to work on ...
As an Albertan, you are most welcome lol. You can't be wusses all yer lives haha. Anyways, I just discovered your channel because I just picked up a Jiffy model 31 auger and thanks to your video with the Tecumseh diaphragm carburetor and all the extra tips that I could find no where else but here, I have it running perfectly again. Subbed and thank you for the edumacation!
You are a hoot Taryl..... I always appreciate that you always say "we" when talking about stuff....very respectful to your team...appreciated....Just a world of great info here Taryl....your team is the last word on this type of equipment.....Ty ....lets see here....looked like you had about $100 in parts and this video was about an hour.....What was this engine rebuild worth Taryl???....My guess is about $250
That oil drained into the coffee can will sure make for some fine wake up juice tomorrow morning!
Just received your gel lube, and let me tell you that stuff is fantastic,so good ordered another can.
Verry good explanation. And verry well done video. Thank you very much.
53:16 thanks for that new way of torquing bolts down, ill have to try it out tomorrow! lol
Good stuff Awesome rebuild, I enjoyed the vlog.👍👍
