Recorded in 1956 from the Archives of African Music at the Institute of Africa Studies, Legon, Ghana. The audio archive has been edited with found images and footage from different archival sources.

What is interesting is the way language is used to exclude and also conceal information. The Okyeame, Asafo and other custodians of royal oral histories exercise control over this repertoire of verbal arts, and so unless one has access to history and certain modes of communication and understanding, the context and meaning of these praise songs/ poetry will remain unknown/unrecognisable.
