CryptTV During his grief and frustration he jumped off the bridge to his death. Him standing on the bridge is his soul in a confused state not realizing what he had done. She seems to be a collector and dragged his body frim the river not realizing his soul had separated already so when in his mind his phone rang she found him. Of course to a "lost" soul everything will seem normal from a phone to keys and every step and breath taken. She collected in the end.

obviously the man jumped from the bridge when he lost his job & he had 2 kids & 1 of the kids was sick & had huge hospital bills because of the illness. His spirit was still on the bridge re-living the moment he lost his job & BEFORE he jumped...the spirit of the man didn't seem to know he was actually dead. Not sure how long this spirit kept re-living this moment over & over UNTIL this moment when he ACTUALLY saw his own body & this death entity who probably 'collects' those who commit suicide on this bridge. When the entity realized that the spirit or soul of this man was still holding on...it rushed to collect the soul of the man as well. The child in the window, maybe the sick child, and due to his sickness makes him straddle the borderlands between the living & the dead...Its possible the child, himself, is already dead & his little spirit is trapped in that house unable to act or help his father...

Gotta love a horror short that isn't overly arty & you get It from start to finish. Scary. Suspenseful.Superb.
Nothing wrong with simple but I was trying to sum this short up in a few words and the best I could come up with was "Scary Lady"

My theory :
I think when he was fired, he killed himself, at the bridge despite how he saw his own body. When he could not turn off the phone, it's clearly that he is a soul. As soon as he reached home, he saw his son/daughter, right? His son/daughter didn't do anything as he/she didn't know who was at the window. (kids can see ghosts, right?)
If he even unlock the door, there is no point because he is dead. This explains why this short film is titled "Shi" as it means death in japanese

In the opening dialogue between the employee and employer, you can see/feel why certain employees lash out in furious rage and decide to kill their boss. Certain employeers seem not to have a heart of compassion for what some of their employees go through in their personal lives. Especially when the employee has shown himself to be as loyal to the business as if it's second nature.

1. Many of those keys were probably completely unnessecery.
2. With less keys, he could have just easily opened the door and the locked it.

Wow, this one is really good. I’m sure some people have mentioned this, but Shi means “death” in Japanese and this took place in Japan. When he was running away from Shi, the man passed by a Japanese cemetery which I happen to think look very beautiful for some reason. I feel sorry for him to be honest because it seems like he’s reliving a very painful moment which also happens to be part of his last moments alive. You know what they say when someone dies out of sheer sorrow and helplessness, you relive those moments after death for all eternity. Poor thing truly had his family first but I wish he’d have kept his head up high and brought his skills to someone who would have seen him as a valuable asset rather than some huge screw up so he could continue to provide for his family the way he wanted to. Crypt TV stays killin’ it! 👏🏽

For those who dont understand, the person in the black coat is a shinigmai/soul reaper. They escort people people to the afterlife, the protagonist we see seems to have commited suicide and seemed to bot be ready to pass on, so the soul reaper forcefully escorted him lol.
Also it kinda looks like the soul reaper here is using the flash step like in certain anime.
I love the cinematography, the atmosphere created is AMAZING.

Too many keys without reason! And why would he not be trying the keys while asking for the door to be opened!? This would've made more sense if he was set up as the apartment block janitor (keys explained) and because he has ask many keys he can't find the right one... this would clear a few things up.

What a fine short full of atmosphere & tension , we draw our own final conclusions as bad things often happen to those that don't deserve this fate. Kudos to the sound guys for that awesome creaking sound when the entity realizes it's not got all it came for & turns to see him on the bridge . I liked the reference to the title as it fits like a glove & there again we have many meanings of that to reference from. Great work on this ..
