What is Darkness Falls?
Darkness Falls is an overhaul mod for 7 Days to Die. It takes previous alpha features and combines them with some new. Making a challenging, fun and more rewarding experience.

Age of Oblivion. I have been seeing the changes in their discord. Some interesting stuff happening.

I see khaine playing with neebs gaming he is distressing or having fun before all that work or tackling and doing gaming. Still the infested and T6 poi's is going to insane with demons. So I think he has a figurative deck top full of work.

Here is a question I am curious about. As I am not in the game with you and the audio could be different for me, but one thing that I felt was the humanoid robots that came at you while wandering around seemed too quiet. If I look at zombies, they make audible sounds at times, and some can be quite loud, but the humanoid robots sound a bit too quiet when you see them coming and they get close. Even when getting hit there is something lacking. Do you think there is something to this, or it is just because I am not playing in the game itself, so I have a poor perspective?
Bit quiet yes but intended i found. They are sneaky. Keeps one on your toes for sure.

Darkness falls and rebirth mod for sure. Undead legacy to me is a perfect example of what vanilla should be. That mod should be the base for vanilla.

My two favorites are Darkness Falls and Rebirth. Fortunately, I'm happy to wait until they're both ready, and don't mind diving deep into A21 vanilla and/or other stuff in the meanwhile.
On a similar note, I'm hoping you eventually do a video on District Zero! 7 Days with mechs immediately has my interest.
Yes, I will certainly be doing it. The mechs and robots are just the tip of the iceberg, there is a lot more to the mod, so will definitely be doing a "what is" video on it.
Oh yes, District Zero is now on my watch list as well. This is going to be something to try.
That new mech robot mod is something I would want to try. I hope District Zero doesn't take too long to come out.

Zil has said it won't be until A21 is stable however we've been testing it so it'll be ready. Wednesday and Thursday mornings Rizzomf streams Dist 0 and I play with him on stream.
@@redstonedad6434 I asked someone about this the other day after watching his stream. Do you find the humanoid robots a bit too quiet? While I was watching the stream, it may have just been his audio level, but the game felt a bit too quiet or dead when he was hitting the robots or they were coming towards him. What are your thoughts?

Yeah, the EXP or DEV version that Khaine puts out, sometimes requires a restart each time. So, it can be a pain to go through that. Especially as it they are really bug hunting versions.
End Z and Prepocalypse are the two currently fully compatible with 21 they are smaller modpacks but I recommend the 2nd one for those missing there quality of life improvements

Haha, I don't know if it is old age, but lately I have been so meh or "don't really care about horde bases". So, for my recent playthrough I just setup in the Town Hall POI. That is the entrance. It makes it pretty easy to have a stepped run up, and a very nice view down. Especially easy for two or three players to create a kill zone in the centre from all sides.
Great friend!! As always good video!! We will be waiting to know what Mods we can play... Personally, Alpha 21 doesn't tell me anything at all... So I don't think I'll play it too much... I'm doing a series for the community but as soon as I can I'll switch to a mod. Greetings!
Well, I have enjoyed A21 so far, except for the problem of water being a grind for glue. Other than that I am happy. However, it has not taken me long to get bored, so you are correct, mods are the next choice.

Yeah, I think by mid July we will start seeing glimmers of experimentals coming out. Still early days, but the plans for the new alpha are huge coming from some overhauls.

He will often make claims, and then double back on them. Not in a bad way, but in a good way. So, he has claimed it will be then, but if vanilla can balance and fix its issues, I am pretty sure Khaine will be one of the first to release, if not, he will be the first, long before he says it will be. I also do believe he will be one of the first to enter public experimental.

Great video Snowbee. I appreciate the update. I'm surprised at how much I've enjoyed a21 so far, even removing the jars is less annoying than I thought but I am definitely experiencing the grind for certain mags and therefore certain unlocks.
Yeah, I don't believe the mag balance is quite there from a vanilla point of view. I do think the grind a bit of a pain, but I am not complaining much.
The water jars I don't really miss, and I don't mind if they were there. The water grind is perfect for cooking and basic survival, just the guys needing glue is where the problem is. I don't usually care about explosives too much, but my eldest son loves his explosives and exploding arrows. He is struggling. A lot of driving around, trader to trader for dlue and duct tape, bulk water farms, not so much fun over there. However, I do think the overhauls will fix it. I am just not sure what will happen with vanilla.
@@SnowBee I am looking forward to seeing DF, UL and Rebirth in a21 especially. I think UL's approach to water is the right balance, so we'll see what that brings this time round.

im at least half sure that the dew collectors mostly just work in "vanilla" as added hurdle to get go ... most other mods have actual creative ways to make the game hard or problemsolvy ... so i guess many mods will just delete the water changes or adapt differently
Yes, you are correct, they will likely go back to how it was in A20. The problem will be if the mechanic for filling water from a jar is screwed.

I'm lucky to be a tester. I get access to some overhauls early but I have to deal with bugs, that must be reported, and lots of restarts.
Yeah, I was saying to dobbers about two days ago, I was wondering how he does it? He is on so many mods, and is now helping on the new Dictrict Zero mod as well.
I test JM and APN however because I play with Rizzo I get access to District 0 as well. D0 is fun!
@@SnowBee Dobs has been on the D0 team for awhile iirc. He has the wonkiest sleep schedule lol. He's been joining us more in Rizzo's streams so it's been fun hanging out with him.

Remember folks, you are getting these mods for FREE. Which means you're more than likely not donating to the people behind these mods, they are volunteering their time to get them working. Don't push hard for something that's not tested sufficiently to be released, because you know you'll just complain if something isn't right. Patience.

I wouldn't be surprised. The need to delay as they are too scared to move away from what has kept them going for a decade.
Played A21 abit, then played A20 Undead Legacy, but the improvements in A21 is too good, so im playing A21, multiple restart already. But i'm waiting for A21 Undead Legacy 😆
Edit: what i mean is the POI, the stone sizes, zombies, door holes, etc. But the book system is a miss i think...

Hey snowbee is the mod launcher gonna be getting a new version when the overhaul mods get updated for alpha 21? I'm asking cuz it seems the current one I'm using doesn't seem to work with a regular alpha 21 world with a few modlets added to it so I'm just curious if they are working on a new version
That depends on the devs. The mod launcher is send a version of the mod by the dev and the mod launcher dev then uploads it. None of the major overhauls that the ML has have been updated to A21 yet. I am thinking that could be related to it not working. The files and folder locations of the game have not changed.

Yeah, I do understand. I will do a mod manual install guide sometime, so not to your liking, but it usually leads to fewer problems with the manual install.

I was missing UL 1 week after A21, already dropped back to A20 so I could play a superior game version
Haha, yeah, I know a lot are moving to UL again in A20. My family and I have got to the point where we are bored of A21. We have one more horde night to do and then call it quits. I only do it for the sake of getting to know it so I have a reference point. This video was actually me starting to get back into what I enjoy, and that is mods. Vanilla just does not have enough to offer. Don't get me wrong, I am excited that we have had so many changes in the backend, but for me I just am dying to see that changes in my favourite overhauls. :)

Question. Do you know of a mod in the works that will allow the bulldozer/excavator to functional/driveable/useable?
Unfortunately, no. Usually the only vehicles are there to carry items, like the Undead Legacy mod's huge mining truck or smaller mining cart. When it comes to excavating, either you use the traditional augur or the mod will provide something better, but they are all hand held devices. I think one of the best and most op'd is the plasma drill from Age of Oblivion. That is a mid to end game item that is legendary for mining.
Besides those, you can get auto minors or auto excavators, but they are not drivable bulldozers, just for collecting ore automatically.
wondering how undead legacy would handle a21 since a big part of the gameplay there is crafting the books yourself

Yeah, so Undead Legacy is planning to NOT adopt learn by looting. Subquake finds the book process to be confusing, so he has a different way for research and progression. As far as water is concerned, Subquake still plans to have water containers, but NOT jars. Apparently jars are being replaced by plastic bottles. Also, you can fill your bottles without there being a need to have them on your toolbar. They just have to be in your inventory.
Subquake has said research data will be gone in the A21 UL and progression will not😢able to be skipped. For example you won't be able to go from stone to steel tools without learning how to make iron tools first.

it will happen faster than expected; changes in Alpha21 are not as extensive as expected so some overhaul mods will come out earlier. Im already using shitload of modlets that already overhaul vanilla by a mile. As soon as someone takes care of 1920 magazines bs and make progression by doing it as in DF: vanilla is pretty much done. I didnt max a single magazine crafting without buying a tier5 something from traider.. making completing those totally irrelevant.
On the water issue. So we can't fill jars from new water physics anymore what should be do? refill from hydrants or have a sink repair kit from traider so players can repair kits inside POIs? NO! Lets introduce dew collectors looking like rain collectors but it wont catch rain water!!! also... someone must refill empty jars in dew collectors.. ghost zombies! unless it comes with unlimited jars lol So from unlimited water issue we got: unlimited jars + unlimited water solution. Also it seems we are now eating jars while drinking and eating cans while eating. Well done FTP! This is hilarious.
Yeah, I am pretty sure some will bring out their experimental version sooner than expected. Just the stable release I guess will be August and September. So much depends on the stable alpha. Do you think TFP will actually balance the water jar problem?

Well I mean, unless you"re playing some fantasy mod overhaul... maybe? filling jars from hydrants or getting a trader sink repair kit would be too simple too stupid? Sure, why making it simple and stupid: lets bloody kill immersion and take a dump on it. BEHOLD: magic jars.. you can drink! World trash problem solved! So immersive! It's actually sad. there was NO jars problem; TFP made one out of nothing. Did you know I can now drink an entire lake with filter head mod? I actually stacked it to 1200 water before I got bored. lasted me entire horde night and then some with bloated +15% stam regen. Clap Clap Clap

I am very curious to see what various mods come up with. I have picked up that the water change may not be a matter of just putting it back to where it was. I think TFP's have caused issues with the ability to full bottles with water from your toolbar. I see that Subquake is now using plastic bottles for drinking water, and removing the old glass jars. He is also making it so that you don't need the bottle on your toolbar anymore, it just fills while in your inventory. I think this has something to do with something TFP's did.
@@SnowBee yeah, TFP is making changes noone asked for but they just thought might be cool and it wasn't screwing things up on the way...
I just hope modmakers will be able to make it enjoyable again.
Well....A21 just released today, OMG.
Yeah, and the overhaul devs are scrambling a bit. It was not expected to be stable so soon. A20 did this as well with the Winter Steam sale. It is actually quite annoying as the mod devs thought they had a few weeks to get the mod converted. I know Darkness Falls is still saying August. Even Rebirth is still saying September. However, when other overhaul mods release, I think peer pressure can also make releases come sooner. Possibly with features being cut just to get an A21 release out.
@@SnowBee That's true, their main goal is to keep releasing new features to fit those sales calendar which can increase their budget roling. I can't understand exactly if that may be a good thing for us since will have less time for more polishment in the game. At least they give me some time to play vanilla again until my fav mods come out. I am a fan and a supporter of Darkness falls so let's give those mod devs some time right? Yes, you must change your steam beta settings to 20.7. This will revert to alpha 20.
Undead Legacy should just be bought out and merged into the base game at this point.

The run of the zombies are bugged same the arrow of the bow sometimes buggs
Well, I have worried much about the zombie running. If you mean the zig zagging, I thought that was intentional?
However, the annoying arrows flying through your target, yeah, that has been around too long.
@@SnowBee nope, the run of the zombies are not natural it runs and teletransports, runs and teletransports, it isnt natural. On the alpha 20 that bug didnt occur. On the point of the arrow sometimes bugs and the point of the arrow distance from the bow it goes the same distance from the point of the Spears, but sometimes when the point of the arrow separates from the bow even when not using the string if I change weapon and go again to the bow the bug is fixed, everytime that occurs I must change weapon and go the to same...
The zombie runs is laggy like fotogramas not natural, on alpha 20 that bugg didnt occur same as the point of the arrow wich separates from the bow even using or not it stays far from the bow the distance when that bugg occurs is the same distance like the point of the Spear, dont understand why...

Well, that depends on what your definition of stable is. :)
However, the ability to play Alpha 21 with the Darkness Falls modifications, and not have crashes, I believe that is achievable in 2023 :)
I LOVE what base game is now, it's what I've always wanted. No glass jars, fantastic progression, fantastic food and water sustain, NOW is the time for some smooth overhaul mod tinkering

I don't play 7DtD anymore without Darkness Falls. For me just too many changes spoiling the fun. Darkness Falls has all the fun things that have been changed throughout the alphas.
I'll just wait as long as it takes for DF to finish. Until then, keep playing the Alpha 20 with the DF mod.

Man i can't stand crybabies. This clown gets on the forum and posts something that wasn't even an exploit. They just did it to see if it could be done and then cries that the game is too easy. The average player isn't going to have time to ride around to every single mailbox looking for magazines. They have a base to build. Gather resources, prepare for Horde night. Of course the Nerf Pimps don't like easy so he pretty much ruins the game for everyone else. The magazines were a stupid idea anyway. The idea that your skill automatically went up like it did in the older versions, was fine. I don't see how hard it is for them to link scarcity to level like the modders do? And it's their game! People cried about there being too much ammunition on Alpha 20. They had crates and crates of bullets. Yeah so when they got into late game and it wasn't as easy to get ammo. They were crying about it being scarce. Sometimes people need to learn to be quiet. If you don't want it don't loot it if you think it's too easy. Play on a harder difficulty. Yeah, I understand, even if it was directed at me, youtubers do tend to sometimes take things out of context. We are often looking for drama. No different from the press and news reporters. Blow things out of proportion.
I try not to, but it is nice to find a juicy story that players will latch on to.
I started playing a new mod last week, that uses the vanilla magazines and progress. With the nerf certainly not enjoying it currently. Just feel my progress is going too slowly. Tired of reading and reading and reading and freaking well reading magazines and books.
PC users quit complaining! At least you got the game unlike us Console players. I call on ALL console players to BOYCOTT this game!
That is like the Harry Potter boycott. Too many want to play it, so don't give a stuff about the boycott.

I think UL will be one of the last to go stable, unfortunately. SQ puts a lot of time and care and polish into perfecting the details.
