Deep Sea Fishing Conventional Lever Drag 2 speed fishing reel: Okuma Makaira MK-10IISEa 2-Speed Lever Drag Reel is a special edition (gunmetal) of the MK-10II.
The gunmetal comes in an actual gunmetal color and a greenish tint.. quality control doesn't look over the batches that come out green... I went in for a 15t and it was green .. my 16 is a beautiful gun metal .. so I settled for a silver 15t .. if u like it tho rock it. Nobody will notice unless they stare at it
Have you ever tried shore casting with this reel? Or casting irons on a boat? The TSI-301 lube is suppose to extend the rotational ease by 2.5x. I'm looking mainly shore casting 6oz hopefully 80-100yd with possibly 65lb (or 50lb) braid or 30lb mono.
Scuba Chris Years ago on the San Diego long range boats, the really good fishermen were casting Penn Jigmasters on Truline D-8 jig sticks 165 yards from the boat to the fish boil. Currently they are casting about 1,000’ on land for distance casting. How far you cast amounts to how much you apply yourself and how good you get, but 100-200 yards should be very doable with this Makaira 10II . Of not, they are taking the Makaira 30000 Spinning reel with the huge spool and using a drone to carry the bait as much as 700 yards from shore to deeper water and catching their targeted species (this is what they’re doing in New Zealand) . Lots of options for distance casting with both cast and spinning Makairas, prolly the best reels ever to be made. Cheers!
@@johngeddes7894 I have a Alijos 12 prototype from last year that is very close to the Maks. Has a non-magnetic cast control. I spooled on 65lb Eminent Braid. Sweet spot is using a 7oz shore casting. Recently i've been more into light jigging from shore.
Yes, I have a Talica 10 and 16. The Okuma Mak 10 is a heavier reel - closer to weight to Talica 16 than 10. Line capacity on the Mak is about 410 yards of 60# braid. Reel feels really smooth and well built. I think Talica is easier for casting. Will report back when had a chance to pull on some real fish with the Mak.
With this world situation going on right now. Where you able to use it as of yet?. And how does it compare with any of the Shimano and Daiwa in this class?. Appreciate it 👌🏻
I have all. I have a Shimano Talica 16ii, Okuma Makaira 15SEa and no daiwas. Dont even consider daiwas, the saltiga has a horrible flaw in the lever that should be enough to just say no to. Talicas are nice, they cast good, super smooth, look nice. But the bad things are that it does not have a low enough low gear to bring in big fish, it does not have a anodization but rather shimanos EI surface treatment which seriously does not hold up as well as a anodization from a avet, okuma, penn, or accurate and it comes off very easy. I have seen lots of corrosion on talicas before. Makaira, the makaira is not in the same class as the Talicas or Saltigas because the makaira is a heavy frame reel and the talica/saltigas are medium frame reels. The makaira is equal to a Tiagra, ATD, International and all those big game reels. But they make the makairas in the same size as some of these other reels. From my experience ill tell you that makairas are the best out of all the other competetors man. The cranking power is INSANE! The freespool is INSANE! The drag... is beyond any other brands drag, i can generate 25lbs without the reel flinching on the 15sea! My talica gets kinda tight at 20lbs. A reel that is medium frame that will compare to saltigas and Talicas but blows both out of the dust is the Penn Torque, even a fathom! Just fish Makairas, Torques and Internationals man. I dont know better reels, I have accurate Dauntlesses too and there kinda heavy and i dont see the point in spending $700. I prefer Makairas and torques out of all the reels mentioned for the price and preformance.
I think 100# braid is too much, you will need a bigger capacity for 100#. This is a relatively small reel (for a 2 speed) and if you hook into a big fish you might get spooled. For 100# braid, I would go with a bigger reel - Man 16 or Mak 20 if you want to stay with Okuma or Talica 20 if you go with Shimano.
Good question. The gunmetal is their Special Edition: - Open Spool Bearings with TSI-301 oil. This increases freespool 2 to 2 1/2 times! - All non-spool bearings feature FULL grease pack for maximum longevity. - Special Edition Gun Smoke and Black anodizing. - SE reels have a yellowfin tuna etched into the side plate to further distinguish them from the Golds. - Frames have been machined out for increased clearance between the spool and cross bars. - Larger Handles, MK-8/10/15 reels will feature MK-20 size handle knobs for greater leverage. - Larger Handles, MK 20/30 reels use the 50 size arm and knobs. - New LOWER GEARING on the 20/30 size - 1.3:1!!! I believe is phasing out the gunmetal to a new special edition color.
Good video.. Thanks,

Hi, just came across your video, how did you ended spooling the reel and how many yards thanks in advance

This is not a fly line casting reel
@@mexicanamerican21 Who said anything about a fly caster?

Alijos drag issue has been a game changer for me not to buy it.,
Hey bud, I've been considering this reel for a chunking setup. What are your thoughts as to best model to handle 75-100# class tuna?
Get a penn fathom 40ii
I’d use a makaira 15 big ish reel but very versatile and if you ever hook into a 200 tuna you’re still good
Leevel? Level dude level
How smooth is the reel ? Have u ever used a talica? If so how would they compare?

between talica's and makairas , makairas are better built ,better warranty and have parts available as compair to shimano.

65 braid is the ideal line on Mak 10sea
What's the difference between this and the gold reel?
