We are sitting ducks, it is not a matter of if, BUT WHEN. Those laws makers, if thinking about law is such a thing for them, those who sign these bills for assault weapons have blood on their hands.
It's not just the lawmakers. It's a constituency incapable of looking beyond what they think is their "right". Unfortunately, for many, that "right" involves having access to weapons which, in most other civilized societies, would only see use in times of war or armed conflict, not daily life.

The consistent call for gun control legislation and the consistent demand for more gun control are the actual enablers of gun violence. It’s literally their fault for not calling out the correct solution to wage war in mental illness instead keeping the focus intentionally on the gun itself. Gun legislation will not have any impact whatsoever on gun violence period. On mental health reform can cause such a thing, and they know it. It’s like they don’t want gun violence to end so they keep the focus on the false solution of gun control.

In order to drive his point home, I suggest they show these horrific injuries right here on the news every time these events happen. Can't stomach it?, too bad. I believe that physicians have a very important role in the discussion around gun violence in America. Physicians and other healthcare workers are on the front lines of these issues. They are the people that see the patients come in after traumatic events like the shooting in Louisville. They see how the event impacts the patient and their family. These events take a toll on healthcare workers as well. Even though Dr. Smith admitted that he does not know what the solution is to the problems, I commend him for speaking up and stating that changes need to be made. By doing this, Dr. Smith is advocating for his patients and community. He is also promoting the ethical principle of nonmaleficence which is the concept of doing no harm. By speaking up on gun violence and asking for change, this is also asking that harm not be done in the first place.

Dr Smith, you are an example of what makes your country great: you do the right thing at the right time because you love your country and believe in the American way of life. You say you are weary, but you know you will continue to help save lives. As an overseas viewer, excuse me for upsetting anyone on what I am about to say, but here is the solution for diminishing gun violence in your country: every capable American adult who is approved by law enforcement to own and carry a gun should do so at all times in public. If those people you have operated on had been carrying a weapon, perhaps only one may have been shot before the shooter was taken out by someone wearing a sidearm either concealed or open carry. I understand how repulsive this must sound come from someone living outside of your country, but having eligible adults armed with a sidearm in public, would drastically reduce mass shootings and people thinking of doing a mass shooting would also know that the supermarket he or she was intending on attacking would have all the adults armed and capable of shooting back. When this has been put into place, you can then have debates on perhaps getting AR15s off the shelves because of what trauma surgeons say about shooting victims with these guns which leave surrounding organs pulverized by the shock waves the high-speed bullets make going through a body. It's an opinion.
So sad.Louiville has been good at the updates.I hope we can get a grip on the mental health and help these people before they lash out.

These people who are not willing to try to make stricter gun laws, are making themselves guilty day after day. Its disgusting
One side says gun laws, the other says mental health. Neither are doing anything. Instead of sitting on this fence, better to hold politicians accountable for doing nothing at all, just paying lip service to keep their seats.
If those that could change the system could actually feel the physical pain caused by grief & the heartbreak of loved ones of casualties and the doctors who treat all the victims… maybe something would change. But when one is not affected directly, they’ll continue to shut their eyes. Empathy isn’t present among them.
My prayers and thought are with the victims in this horrible tragedy in KY. Yes.
Good thing Doc don't work on Baltimore. He would see a lot more daily shootings. Its on news every night.
We're all tired of violence but the vast majority of violent crime is isn't committed by assault style weapons. Criminals are the problem. Letting criminals off the hook so they can turn around and kill someone is the problem

America, LISTEN to this physician. Citizens need to make a decision. It is time to stop this violence.
For those who want to continue blaming the gun. Remember this. A gun, bomb, knife, machete, bat, and even an jetliner are instruments. They all take a human hand to operate.
The problems that need to be addressed are. Criminals. Mentally unstable people. They are the ones using the instruments. There are millions of responsible, trained, licensed, good honest American people who own guns. They use them for hunting, sport, collections, self defense. They are not the ones shooting people. It is the criminals. The mentally unstable. These are the problems that the government needs to focus on, and fix. Stop the dirty politics and lies, and do something.
I stand with reasonable gun reform and I own firearms! We must stop this madness in our County

@98Cobra08 background checks, red flag for temporary removal in rare occasions, raise age and possibly require permit for AR's...?? Maybe these things we could come to agreement on..
@98Cobra08 I also feel since there are so many firearms in our Counrty that gun safty should be taught in all pu blic schools at age appropriate stages thru elementary, middle and high school as a requirement.
@@juliewest7472 Most mass shootings happen with pistols. Background checks are already mandatory. Red flag laws won't work. The only real solution is to do away with gun free zones and protect all sensitive places like schools with armed security, metal detectors, etc.
The answer is to keep guns on the hands of police and armed forces. PERIOD. Get guns from the hands of civilians! This is sick. There is a lot of blood in the hands of politicians right now

How would it end badly? Other countries that have had mass shootings involving assault rifles moved to ban them.. and guess what? No more mass shootings... but hey you have a gut feeling. Pay no attention to the rest of the civilised world as we watch in horror as you yell "there's nothing we can do about this gun violence ... also this is my new gun"
