- Marcus King plays a 1960 Gibson Les Paul affectionally nicknamed “The Barn Burst”. Once owned by a local farmer who’d unwind with some Lynyrd Skynyrd on his Peavey Roadmaster in his barn every night after a long day in the fields, this guitar has soul. Never circulated, one owner - A true gem!

I watch most of these Carter videos. The players are all amazing, but this guy Marcus King, he is on a level of his own. I don’t listen to his music or really know him so my opinion isn’t biased. The feel he has for the fretboard recalls some really powerful players and yet he has his own thing going. Bravo Marcus.
You need to start listening to him. Start with soul insight and work your way up towards his newer albums. You’ll see how versatile he really is. Also check out his ep.
Agreed. I'm not a huge fan of the Marcus King Band records, but everytime he or the band appear on this kind of videos they just rock. He is an amazing player and he's got a very unique and soulful voice.
Regarding his playing, he is well versed and educated
I think you should hear him sing too.... Great guitar player, singer and composer too
His new album is amazing🩵
Wow...
Now we all know that Marcus has an amazing guitar that came through the family no less, but if anyone out there deserved a real burst, it would be him.
I must have seen this video over 30 times!!! Although it is only on the bridge pickup this play by Marcus is just amazing.
This dude and Kingfish Christone Ingram are my two favorite guitar players that have recently been blowing up. So good.
I agree. Have you checked out Billy Strings? Watch him with Marcus on Summertime and Lonesome Fugitive cuts.
@@gracecase998 oh yeah. Someone sent me Billy’s EP in like 2018. He is the hometown hero here in Michigan. One of the only people keeping the traditional country music sound alive.
Don’t really care about half million dollar guitars, but that Tweed amp sounds fantastic.
You are very wise. The amp is where it’s at!
Now your talking some sense. They blow these guitars up to keep the price inflated…..but the true majik is in that tweed amp!
Honestly, a new Standard or RI will sound and play pretty much just as well or better. I can't believe the money people pay for these. Sure they sound great and are somewhat rare, but meh, i'd rather have a newer one if I'm actually playing it all the time. my '96 standard les paul and 2003 ES 335 are perfect. Especially through my hand wired 57 custom champ.

Love Marcus!
Our hendrix my friends. Chops for fuckin days son. 🤯
good feelin
One of the greatest guitarists alive!
history of blues in less than 90 seconds!
Lather, rinse, repeat. He gets boring really quick.
$350,000 guitar played at the barn through cheap Peavey amp strapped with a rope!
Well that's a whole another level 😀
Right!? What a cool story
AHHH-MAZING!!! Fucking love your skills man 🎸🤘
This is a great “neck” burst guitar. Great job gibson!
Nice
epic
I want that hat!
Just like all the greats in guitar's history you can recognize Marcus King from the first note that he plays. What an amazing player!
MK is authentic to the bone. Please come to Australia.
He's listed as the "Special Guest" on Chris Stapleton's 2025 Tour of Oz in Feb
W0W!
❤
The guitar is just an extension of himself. He’s a GOAT.
Fr I know he studied jazz for a while he definitely know what he’s doing
he for sure is not GOAT
@@iggygriva3622 “a goat” not the goat.
He looks as those he has tears rolling down his face! Most likely sweat but there is a moment towards the beginning the light hits his face and reflects the liquid rolling down his face/cheek. Check it out!!
Those 60 models have such a heat seeking tone. Sounds so sick when you play some smeared licks like MK does here. Rich harmonics
Lawd have mercy button >>>>>>>>>
What specific amp is he playing through?? I need it in my life!
Just picturing Marcus carrying that brown case to the car after this shoot was done. 😜😜
That is Early Cuyler from Squidbillies.
If someone asks "what's a Les Paul"? just send them this video
He was using the Jazz III picks for a long time... looks like he changed. Anyone know what he's using here?
Sweeeeeeeeeet!
..that Paul should be given to him man, MK is fire 🔥 🔥 🔥
That would be quite the expensive gift! He really does make it sound spectacular though!
No.
Get out and see him live. He won't let nobody leave a show without a melted face.
...E para completar ao fundo fender blues jr.
What amp and pedals (if any) were used? Sounds great!
Sounds fuzz-esque to me. Absolutely wicked tone. And I think it’s the dumble tweed they have. For only $125k! Bet that’s the cost of a nice house he’s playing through 😂
😂😂@@PeterRomano
Straight in to a cranked Tweed Deluxe!
What fuzz is he using? Thats tasty!
That is what a burst is supposed to sound like. Wish I could do that. lol
Yep, just as I thought. It sounds just like a Les Paul.
Ol Honey Hands himself
Kitten got growling
Did Bonamassa buy it?
I hope not.
that is one filthy fuzz!
What is being used?
@@redfrozenseven There are no pedals being used - straight into a fender tweed deluxe.
He switched for another guitar pick than jazz 3 ?
is he using big muff?
Let's hear both PUs blended and then the neck PU!
audio guys, please add a room mic! Sounds great, but clausterphobic.
レスポール似合いすぎで草
That's a 59 with a 60 serial number
it's so annoying how much effort collectors are putting into conning people into thinking old guitars are magic. They aren't. There are plenty of modern les pauls that can outperform bursts.
That was about the performance.
… before you all rush out and buy an old Gibson …. You’re probably NEVER gonna sound as good as Marcus , sorry guys , it’s a FACT 😂
That thing sounds so dirty…
I'm surprised he is hot on a skinny neck
$350,000🤣🤣🤣
Marcus King was like a savant in his blues era. This southern rock era is talented but just ain't doing it for me.
This guy seriously struggles to find a hat that fits.
He from South Carolina, I live there, that’s how they where hats
not a fan of that tone
I truly don’t understand the whole Les Paul thing. Apart from rock/metal they just sound awful. And there are far better guitars for those genres anyway. They’re stunningly gorgeous to look at, but they sound like something that would come from a Dollar General. I’ve played guitar for 25 years and 100s of these things have been in my hands. If you cut all the wires inside of them it’d be an immediate improvement. Make it make sense.
Horrible playing blues lol
Dude reminds me of a fn Bergen from the trolls movie 🤣
this dude is real creepy
Think you saying that is even creepier
