Love this documentary, my older generation of my family grew up in Venice (Oakwood area) and Santa Monica (Pico neighborhood) in those years. Completely agree with you on the appearance of the classic vatos. WTF happened? I'm completely with the old school aesthetic. Those guys back then were more restrained and were respectable. Even though I was but a mere little kid when this documentary came out, I ascribe to the same aesthetic principles of clean and proper attire. For example, I can't go to work at the office without a nice pressed shirt and pants. Just can't do it. Almost instilled. These kids today are overweight and sag. Sad.

Love this documentary, my older generation of my family grew up in Venice (Oakwood area) and Santa Monica (Pico neighborhood) in those years. Them neighborhoods use to be bunch of vato locos back then. I heard stories how crazy it was (Black and Latino). Now it is too gentrified and expensive to live there.
