  • In this video, top coach Craig Bryant teaches me how to improve my reverse pendulum serve.
Craig is a master at serving and identifies a few flaws with my service action. Craig makes some changes to my swing, grip and use of wrist which enables me to generate more spin and variation.
How would you like to work directly with Craig? Craig is offering a remote coaching service, where he will help you improve your own serves to start dominating your opponents.

This was actually the first real serve I learned with the help of a CZcams video, I thought, if Timo Boll and Fan Zhendong are using it, it must be good. Now my serve is really strong, to a point where even better players tend to have problems with it.
My experience is, that it takes quite some time to be comfortable with the movement. At first my failure rate was super high and the result was still not good. When you practice this form a lot, you kinda notice smaller differences and can hone it a lot.
So my advice would be to anyone, who wants to start learning it, keep on using it. Don't give up in the first months, it's quite an unnatural movement. The benefit is, that you can achieve incredible spin and different variations with similar movement.

Great advice…that’s actually great advice for trying to learn anything that’s difficult 👏

In my case I can produce much more spin than the regular pendulum, and serving short on the forehand side gave me an easy third ball attack

Thanks Tom, it takes a lot of humility to show your weak spots in your serve, but it helps so much for the viewers as we all have the same issues. Already, my serve has improved so much by concentrating on the ball and falling with the ball at the same time to increase my contact time. (reverse tomohawk) cheers, and thanks heaps for the vids.

I would really like to get this serve into my serving arsenal. These tips look very useful and Tom delivered some great serves after tweaking his technique. Off to practice later 😊

I pretty much knew most of what he said and am doing most of it very similar like how to hold the racket and such but I have lots of problems speeding up my wrists movement properly and still playing the ball where I want it to go.
I can do it with down and upspin but my spin is so much weaker then his ...

Great content. I have a lot of coordination, many serves, and learn easily. But this reverse pendulum has killed me man. I find the motion just so difficult with the ball vs. shadowing the motion. The backhand flick visual, I think may really help me here. I just want to be able to hit one just because. LOL.

I know how to do That serve and i saw That Toms bat angle should be more flat. If your bat angle is more flat you can play backspin AND sidespin, wich is way more effective in a match.

This serve gives me a lot of cheap points. The opponents often completely misjudge the ball and return it very badly. Sometimes it's a straight point, or an easy set up for my FH attack

@@TomLodziak thank you, do you have to purchase the bat and the 2 rubbers separately? Does the rubbers come as a set or do you have to purchase 1 for each side? Thank you

    • @TomLodziak
      @TomLodziak  Před 11 měsíci +1

@@ewewell Yes, that's right. I purchase the blade and rubbers separately. In the UK, I use a company called Bribar, but there are table tennis companies in most countries. You select the blade and rubbers you want and they will construct the bat for you.

Sorry to say Tom ,you master all of the strokes in table tennis return of serve especially, but watching you serve there it looked very awkward.
I know this isn't the easiest serve to master ,but you need to watch some Timo Boll videos!!!!
