    Glad I found this video, I've been on the fence about the injector upgrade but I've done the IAT relocation, bored TB, and glasspack, TV cable adjustment. Now the injectors and new Coolant temp sensor are the next on the list. What you said at the end is also bizarre, because I've seen a few ZJs like mine (95) and XJs with the 4.0s and they all seem to have a discernable lack of power compared to mine. Maybe our Jeeps were just built on Monday....take care man I'll check out your other videos. Hope you still have your jeep.

    Dude!! I am glad I stumbled across this video! I have been fighting my heat soak issue for a while now, and was looking for a way to upgrade my ECU. I was told that upgrading the ECU was what I needed to do...Looks like if I move my intake sensor that may do the trick. I have a 2000 XJ and when Summer hits so does the flashing check engine light. Hopefully your little trick will work for me. Thanks again and have a goodern! Gonna check out your other vids! :D

    I moved my tranny cooler to under the back of street car to get away from the radiator and engine heat and dropped 20* temp. I am going to put a fan on it next and see if I can lower it more. I am going to try your mods to my 1999 and 2001 xj. Thanks for the video.

  • @Rusty411
    @Rusty411  Před 8 lety +8

    guys the comments I have made on the wife's Trans cooler has caused room for advise the radiator is only a heater for the Trans to the point the Trans gets hotter than the engine this will happen quickly when pushing the Trans there is two reasons for most Trans failure broke hard parts and overheating so don't run just a external cooler unless you are positive it is adequate

    • @karostaro4779
      @karostaro4779 Před 7 lety +1

      Rusty 411 when you live in a climate where temps get to zero and below. it takes quite a long time for the trans to heat up (it doesn't like running cold) the engine in comparison heats up very quickly. so the trans lines run through the rad. to get the trans fluid up to temps

    • @Rusty411
      @Rusty411  Před 7 lety +1

      Karo Staro yes Def you need the rad to heat up the fluid in That situation I have never seen snow lol we have nothing but hot here in FL lol thanks for the comment as I stated it's only a heater til the Trans get hotter than the engine we see that a lot in Florida Thanks again for the comment have a good one

    • @raymondfreeman138
      @raymondfreeman138 Před 6 lety +1

      Seth Oliver throttle body spacers only work on carburetors don't waste your money if you have fuel injection

    • @khrisshultz2532
      @khrisshultz2532 Před 6 lety

      spacers only make a difference if fuel has to travel through to, so only older throttle body's and carbs benefit from it

    • @Rusty411
      @Rusty411  Před 8 lety

      I ran the cooler after the radiator as the factory one was plumbed if you watch my new video all that mudding that day no issues with Temps and before I added the cooler it would have pegged the gauge the first time I got the convertor under a hard load I should really test these mods for a year before I comment lol

      Definitely make sure the trans cooler is hooked up the way rusty's is if you drive in the cold at all. When mine ran without the radiator cooler included, it wouldn't shift right in the winter, temps stayed too cool. Connecting it agian fixed it,more fluid capacity is better and its best for the engine and trans to heat up together.

    question thats not a mass air sensor. and the temp at the intake manifold is what really matters if the air is to hot then bad fuel usage so why move it? i have a 96 and my intake temp at low movement is up around water temp.so i put hood vents and a fan that blowes down on the intake. temp is around 120ish and i get better fuel mileage. so why move it?

Well the rear pipe had all that stupid plasic and stickers on it that you can't peel off so I decided to let it idle and burn off the labels. After about fifteen min. I came out to have a look and the temp was at about 230 and the electric fan was clicking on and off. That being said, I know it's not pulling enough air so this mod should do the trick. I've heard heat soak can cause rough start. The motor bay of a 4.0L XJ is Hell's kitchen. Sensors, fuel rail, injectors, intake manifold, and other stuff heat soak when the motor and fans turn off. Then you come outta the store with your drink and restart the motor and hear rough idle or sometimes knock. Vent the hood and put a delay timer on the electric fan so it will run for a few minutes after turning the motor off. Yuge help

      it's just the spray pattern bud probably the reason it seams to make more on the jeeps Is they all have got some age on them and the neon injectors are probably just metering the right amount of fuel I suspect head to head if you used both brand new injectors there wouldn't be much of a difference as far as hp goes in either but they did wake mine up and make it start up quicker all from the junk yard parts is pretty dam good in my book thanks for the comment bud

      +Jim m 10-4 I was also thinking the intake runner length on the Ford engine had way more velocity by the time the air flow got to the injectors verses the short little runners on the 4.0 may have a lot to do with the difference in performance on the 4.0 with the 4 hole style you k ow smaller patern for the air flow to atomize maybe

    I got a 90 xj.... When i hit the brakes it dies unless i give it a little gas at the same time also it wont start and idle unless i keep on the gas just a bit. I was going to turn the idle up but seen it was screwed all the way in. Im a chevy guy and this is my first jeep. Im pretty lost here.

      need to first check the fuel pressure also see if the pressure drops after the engine is off sounds like it bleeding off fuel pressure when sitting that the usual with this problem mine did the same it was the injectors on mine the fuel pump has a Che k valve built in that also causes this problem

      it's probably the starter for months I would have to turn and hold the key for 4ish seconds with the engine trying to turn over but it wouldn't then when I turned the key a second time and it fired right up every time on the second try till one day at a Walmart my Jeep wouldn't do anything at all, hit the starter with a pole and hammer and bam started

      if you let your jeep sit for a while a hour or more on a hot day, the fuel still in the injectors after you turn it off will be vaporized. so when you try to start it the first time it is not getting the proper fuel. when you let off then try again it get the amount of fuel required to fire up. it is a typical problem hope that helped a little proud owner of 3 xj
