  • In this video I'll be showing you how to connect an IP camera that is connected on your network, to your NVR. This is useful when your IP camera is not connected directly to your NVR, for example if it's plugged into a POE switch.

    Hello great videos, and it's good of you to be so helpfull, out of curiosity I was wondering if you get involved it setting up routers when adding cameras manually in like setting up reservations etc, I know it's the proper way but can be a minefield with all the different routers out there and passwords that have been changed and forgotten etc, also I am aware that if you go high in the range etc it is more unlikely the dhcp will give that address out on a small domestic network but not impossible without being reserved to the device mac. Sorry to ask stupid questions but you clearly know what your on about and wondered what your views are on this. Cheers.

    • @HikVisionGuru
      @HikVisionGuru  Před rokem +1

      Hi Anton appreciate the kind words.
      Yes domestics you’re fine setting ipc ip address manually at a higher number. Bigger networks however like you say you’d want to reserve the ip addresses so there’s no conflict. I’ll get round to doing a video on this, but will only be able to do it using a virgin router as that’s all I’ve got!

    Thank you for another great video. Just a quick question off topic but i see you used an i series nvr but when you logged into it you didnt have any problems going to live view. When i go to live view on mine using microsoft edge i have to use an internet explorer plugin and then have to click on my first camera and then change it from main stream to sub stream and then click on start live view otherwise i get live view failed or i cant see the camera picture when trying to set up intrusion areas or lines under events.
    I thought Hikvision would of sorted this but i have just downloaded the latest firmware and its a lot better but i still need to use the internet explorer plug in.
    Have you found a way around this?

    • @HikVisionGuru

      Still using edge in internet explorer mode I’m afraid. Alternatively use hiks proper ivms4200 software. On the web interface configuration page, go to local, and tick “auto start live view”, I find this helps.

    Awesome videos could you or do you have a video on how to add a PoE switch to a system with IP camera

    • @HikVisionGuru
      @HikVisionGuru  Před rokem

      Hi Joshua hope you are well.
      This pretty much indirectly sums up how to do this, although doesn’t show the wiring. Depending on the network, With a POE switch, you would have your main network connection from your router going to the POE switch, then a cable from your switch to your NVR, then plug your cameras into the poe switch and add them to the NVR using this video. If your POE switch is going somewhere far away from the NVR, then you just need to ensure that the POE switch is connected to your network router, and not your NVR, as long as that is also connected to your network router, hopefully that makes some sense, reply back if you need further advice on this. Hi may i ask:
    1. Is using many cctv on home aka local network n stream via local wifi or watch from handphone without without using nvr will consume your fup aka bandwitch limit fair usage point from your isp? For instance using 6mp or 8mp bullet camera from hikvision,
    2. And how about through nvr first then aka stream from nvr then watch from tv using hdmi out. Is that consume bandwitch or need to subscribe isp first?
    3. Can we add or activate any new ip camera to nvr or dvr without hqving isp on local network but we just have poe switch , several lan cable n laptop. With this way as long as i can find the ip cam s default ip adress whether from laptop,chrome browser or i just add it in the machine menu itself, can we do just that by using all lan cable connected?

    • @HikVisionGuru
      @HikVisionGuru  Před rokem

      If all you want is to view the cameras from your local network you don’t need any active internet connection. Just a router/switch will do just fine.
      Depends on your network speed, we don’t find it uses much bandwidth at all even 8mp cameras
