Been in the states for 30 years after leaving the soviet union.
It's amplified just how bad it is in some states while others are prospering.
This country can only go so far at this rate maybe at most another 20 years before it implodes.
The negative news and criticism of the American government by Americans is what has made America as great as it is.
Focusing on the issues is what has fixed them.
I agree that the negative American news is unnecessary and exaggerated.
Brother, this is exactly what we were talking about at my house. Completely agree.
Public Librarian here. Thanks for campaigning for one of the most underutilized public resources.
When I will be a mother, you bet we'll always go there :) I want library to be cool again X( thank you for your work
@@mcrosevtuber3056Stop holding yourself back and start going now! I use the library as a sort of third place where I can relax and get a coffee and de-stress. Its great stuff
I love libraries they are awesome 👌 they are massively underused.
@@mcrosevtuber3056 When my son was 2 I saw a DVD 💽 in the library and I thought my son would *_LOVE_* it, ❤ so I rented it. When I got home I discovered I didn't have a DVD player any more, so I couldn't play it. I took it back to the library and -- after a while -- they gave me my money back! 💸
I am a Canadian, and have been fantastically spoiled by wonderful public libraries. During the 1980s, I travelled the US east coast by boat. We would often check out the public libraries. They were a marvelous resource, but relative to Canada's system, they were underfunded, IMO, and many were struggling. I was told that the US has private libraries, which I had never heard of. Still, every single library we stopped to visit did their very best to keep the stacks full, and offered an array of interesting events, something for every age, daytime and evenings too. In my one year adventure, one of the best evenings was Movie Night in Charleston SC, where my waterlogged boyfriend and I were invited to watch African Queen with about 50 other people during a rainstorm. And another was in a "poor" library, where the librarian answered my questions about Gullah culture for nearly an hour, and told me why there were so few books on the shelves.
About 20 years later, I was staying in a tiny village in Saskatchewan with a population of less than 100 people. They had a tiny library, building donated to the village, and the village found the money to pay 4hr, 3xweekly, but open longer and most days with volunteers. Filled with worthy books, cds and dvds, all donated. With dial up internet access. My parents always made sure that we lived within walking distance of a library. Blessings heaped upon the shoulders of librarians!
My step father worked for ABC news from 1960 to 1990. He said that when 24 hour cable news became a thing, everything changed. Before, the networks assumed that the news was a public service and lost money. But the 24 hour news networks had to make money off the news, so they began to sensationalize and become more partisan.
“Public service” there’s a word the entire nation has forgotten about.
Go watch the film Network (from 1976). It warned about ALL of this. Also, it's a great movie just on its own.

USA as a country, America is the whole continent. And yes, its a great country and the people who complains about small things, they havent lived in a really problematic country and suffer in life
@@pollo007x USA is a country almost universally known as America, for short, as the word appears in its name. And to many , if not most people in the West, there is no continent known as America, but a North and South America.

Thank you. I am former political refugee from Cambodia. I survived the communist regime and its killing fields. Millions were send to the mass graves all over Cambodia from 1975-1979.
As soon as I arrived in the US, I grabbed every opportunity by the neck and showed to our host country that we refugees are loyal and contribute back, maintain the health of the USA, economically and psychologically.… not one opportunity or crisis went to waste! From being a refugee boy surviving the communist killing fields to achieving a BA from Temple University, and a Master’s from UPenn (Ivy League School).
Communist and authoritarian states COULD NOT stand American 🇺🇸 US Constitution. Dictators are scared of their own people of accepting or believing in the American exceptionalism. It’s a threat to their authority and control.
You are a great asset to USA . So glad you are here & having a great life !!!!
Wish there was more like you in the UK too.
Very well put. Glad you made it here. I worked with a Vietanamese man who spent 10 years in a "rehabilitation" camp after the war. We both made poor wages back then, but my being younger, he would often give me sugar on toast or a bologna sandwich to help me through the day, as I usually only ate in the evening to save money, and I didn't know anything about cooking for myself... Nguyen Khang was a great man and worked hard to get himself and his family here, and then maintain his family. A true friend.

I live in a small town in South East England and there has been one murder in 5 years and the whole town was talking about it for months. And it was a bar fight that got out of hand. The remote locking on my car stopped working and I haven't bothered to fix it. I seldom remember to lock my front door. I've forgotten what burglar bars look like. I walk home from the pub at 02h00 without looking around. I stop at traffic lights with my windows down and think nothing of it.

You may be old enough to have enjoyed the good financial years here before we fell apart but anyone under 25 cannot remember those free times, they dont demand privacy or quality they accept this current state its all theyv known but this is a failed and broken land where no amount of hard work can ever improve your standard of living and unless you inherit property youl likely be lifetime welfare housed or homeless as the waiting list is 14yrs even for women with kids so men just get a NO.. I hope parts of usa are still good il never afford a visa to leave here tho, but for a fact the uk is totally ruined you cant travel freely around London or even surrounding outskirts without paying tolls its absolutely awful here now for anyone with half a brain. I have taken life in the US for granted. And while there are problems here, life is so much better than so many other authoritarian countries. Thank you
It's not too late to wake up and see the light. There are factions working to make people think we have it bad, and if only we give them power, they can fix us, but they have zero intentions to make our lives better. They are going to trick us into giving up our best thing for the worst thing possible. Trust in the foundation and never give up an inch of freedom. Be the power, don't give up the power. God bless you and your family
The US IS an authoritarian country.
Most of us never see outside our country. We are safe in our bubble. At the same time, this safe bubble is making us complacent and soft. We need to protect our democracy from outside forces and especially internal forces working against the average US citizen. Anyone coming to the US legally are often better citizens than those born here. Going to Iraq and Afghanistan in the mid-2000s was an eye opener on how great our society can be. 🤙
You and 300M others.
As a European I see it in a similar way. We take some things for granted although it took a pretty large amount of time for our ancestors, our mothers, fathers, grandparents to make our countries as civilized and advanced as possible. Now we shouldn't behave as spoiled children but on the contrary teach our children to respect work and the standards that they have and take as granted because in many countries there are humans who have to fight for their rights. When watching the news nowadays I see the civilized world decline as ancient Rome back in the past...
As an American, we take so much for granted. It’s hard to appreciate how blessed we are in the United States.

Fellow ex-South African here living in the States. The way I like to describe it is the reason America is the best country in the world is not because it's perfect. Far from it. But the union is always trying to get better. Sometimes it may be 5 steps back for 1 forward, but it's always changing and striving to BECOME the perfect union. Contrast that with most other countries that resist any form of change or shy away from discourse. Those countries believe they are already perfect or at least try project that image. America and Americans will be the first to acknowledge the union is far from perfect but every day, year, decade and century is spent striving for more.

Libraries, public schools, public lands, postal service. Keep an eye on the people who are trying to do away with these things.
Conservatives, Republicans, the GOP. And then they want to then give tax breaks to the rich
Libraries and public schools are designed to indoctrinate American kids with Democrat propaganda. Public lands are used by the Democrats to exert control over states from a federal position. The postal service is almost exclusively now meant for spying on Americans and rigging elections, again, for the Democrats. These things have been weaponized against the American people in the name of a political party that is bent on tyranny over the American people. The propaganda is the support of these things, because they want to make anyone who questions them into a pariah, because it is all the true source of Democrats power in America. In reality, America is no different than N. Korea with its fake grocery stores, except worse, because people actually know it's fake in N. Korea, while many Americans can't see past the shroud pulled over their eyes, that their standard of living is actually worse than most of the world, with propaganda to make them think it's better than the rest of the world, in order to keep them from realizing their true reality, that they live in an impoverished dystopian nation and have had soo much stolen from them.
Sadly, most of these are becoming a boondoggle, waste of money, or indoctrination factories. When I was a kid, it was reasonable to attend public schools. Now I have to spend big $ on a private school because I consider it child abuse to allow my daughter to attend a school that will teach her to hate me. As for public lands, I can't even take my dog to state parks unless I game the system and make him a service dog.
No shit, Sherlock !

Countries like China sweep their problems under the rug & exaggerate American problems to distract from their own. Ironically, all it does is allow their problems to get worse. They would be better off allowing people to criticize their problems 👍
I wonder what does it fell like, for him, being white and growing up with privileges in South Africa apar.theid?
@FufucaCacildis he grew up in a poor neighborhood. He had possibly no privilege, but even if he did, it's not that much.
He's said multiple times they had little to no money and lived in an incredibly high crime area (although that doesn't say much with South Africa overall, even Johannesburg is horrid). But definitely not in these rich, white bubbles like you're claiming. He was dirt poor. It's not always about race. It's sometimes about wealth in those parts of the world. Black and wealthy is more "privileged" (subjective) than white and poor. You'll see this across the world. Money buys you actual privilege.
As an immigrant to the United States, I wholeheartedly agree with everything this man said. The small things people take for granted here are what make this country exceptional. Thank you for highlighting this. I wish the corrupt officials in my home country would learn from it, though I doubt they will, as their enablers perpetuate the corruption. Thank you.

However, that doesn't mean we won't always try to improve. Like healthcare as Serpentza said. That's a huge issue. Voting rights is a huge issue at the moment. The list goes on. But I also believe a citizen anywhere should exercise any rights they have to enact change.
@@TitaniumRubberYeah, people do take shit for granted. If anything I’m only frustrated with the current establishment, and the mild corruption, but looking back, it’s overlooked and we really ought to be grateful for being here. I’d still die for this place.
Hey, welcome to the USA fellow patriot! I appreciate the perspective of immigrants, you guys usually notice the good qualities that us born-citizens typically don’t.
Thank you and good luck brother! 👍🏼
Thank You for commenting on our great country 😊
I am retired military after 25 years. During my military career I had the opportunity to travel the world. I saw many interesting and a few beautiful places. However, by the end of each Tour of Duty I was always grateful to return to America. Despite our issues, America remains by far my favorite country. I am grateful to be an American.
You're the kind of person we need in the real America.
YES!
Perhaps, you need a person that came from an apartheid South Africa and had lived in communist China to educate you. If serpentza do whack any of the nominee for US President, he is not a real American.
Protect this man at all costs! I've been watching you since I was on secondary school. You do great content Winston!! People need to hear this... especially during these times.
Love ur content..Americans are in general welcoming and appreciating people. God blessed America with power and wealth
I just saw this video. I've followed your work for years. Thank you for recognizing the USA for the amazing place that it is. Welcome Home 😊.

Amen, Serpenza!
Long live the United States of America! I have lived all over Latin America, have traveled all the way AROUND the World, and none of the rest of the world holds a candle to the good old USA!😮😅🎉
I found your channel a few months ago and I really like your content. I have learned so much about China from your videos.
I lived in Canada for nine years (I'm from the UK), and I met many Americans while I was there. I was really surprised by how lovely and generous they are. I too fell for the 'arrogant Americans' construct before I spent time with them. Canadians and Americans are truly the way most people should be. They care about others and they will move heaven and earth to help someone in trouble. Lovely people.
There's a saying in Korea, "Empty carts make the most noise".
That's profound!
Wow good one!
The same as "Empty vessels make the most sound."
That's interesting because I work and live in America and the carts make the most noise when they aren't loaded down with groceries. Perhaps by design?
@@GreasyBeasty That's just additional weight from groceries dulling the vibration of the cart when its being pushed, so less noise.
The Korean saying is a metaphor. If your mind is compared to the cart, then life experiences, pursuit of knowledge, and self-reflection, would be the groceries in the cart. Making the person less likely to be easily swayed by opinions of others and consider the words to be spoken before leaving their mouth.
I have listened to your content while you were still in China. A breath of fresh air. The communication war needs a soldier like you. God Bless
As always, it's great having you here. I remember thinking years ago that it was only a matter of time before you'd make it over to us.
even in San Francisco most of the bad stuff is confined to a few blocks. tourists lately keep telling me how blown away they are how amazing it is here.
"Who's flag is that?"
"My flag."
Filing that one under "things that make me happy to be a Marine."
Almost makes me want to reenlist
God bless you and thank you for your service !!
*Almost*
If you were a Marine, you didn't serve the American people. You served the bankers and the political class. You know it and I know it .
OOH RAH!! God bless America, from one Marine to another
Reenlist? What for? So you can wind up as a tool used to line the pockets of politicians all over again? Be real. The military hasn't fought to preserve the US's freedom since World War 2.
So many years, I'm still a fan of Winston and his channel. Only thing I do miss is him walking trought the town and talking in videos and motorbike rides with Matt
Glad to have you with us Winston. Love the VCR
As an American I can say we are proud to have you here as well Sir! ❤
Too true. As a South African living in the US and teaching college courses here, I'm amazed by my students' lack of perspective regarding the greatness of this place, all problems recognized.
Thank you for this podcast ….. The US gets a lot of flak from other countries about our system, so when someone like you comes along to sing her praises, it gives me that warm, fuzzy feeling that SOMEONE does like us and believes in America!! THANK YOU 🙏!!!
Dude you are awesome! Born and raised in the USA and we’re glad to have you brother! God bless the USA!
I worked for the USAF as a civilian. After listening to the news that day, I commented aloud in my cubicle, "Why does the world hate us so much?" In answer, came a deep booming voice from another cubicle, which said: "Don't you believe it!" The voice belonged to one of our foreign-born lieutenants, (now an American citizen), from Nigeria. A few seconds later, he stood before me smiling. He said, "The people who hate you, are those with power. But the people who have no power, love you! This is a great country to them, and that is why they struggle to come here." It really made my day. I blame the media, and teachers, for brainwashing our kids to hate their own country. This needs to stop!
Thank you for your service, and protection of international trade, without which things like eBay and Amazon wouldnt exist. So many ungrateful people don't even understand that what you brave souls have done, is bigger than even America. I do.
Very cool ! I am copying to remember this !! Thanks for sharing !

I’ve lived in several countries and I’ve visited several countries, but by far my heart belongs to America! I was born here. And I am so grateful to God that he blessed me to live and have the opportunity to raise my family in a country like the United States of America. There are no countries like us. The US is significantly better than the areas you have lived. Local government has all the power to change your life.
Lived in Australia for almost 12yrs, it has an event better standard of living. The people make the big changes there.
Every democracy is at risk from apathy.
Citizen apathy in exercising their voices to their government (in person) and not utilizing the vote.
Thank you!
Thank you for your kind words about our beautiful country and for recognizing that a democracy like we have is difficult and often at war with itself. Our founding fathers designed in this constant push pull and stress knowing it prevents any branch or party from assuming control.
Your recognition of this is amazing and very uplifting. When you are outside of this masterpiece you don’t see, or hear, of the stabilizing influence the silent majority has on this push and pull. But we are here ever watching and ready to ring the bell to action, if needed to save us from outsiders and ourselves.
Thanks for following the law and immigrating in accordance there with. You carry a lot more weight having done this, in all its pain. Thanks for what you are teaching your daughter about her country. Her words in the end move me greatly having seen first hand what sacrifices people have made allowing her to have that freedom of thought and ownership. Continue to stand strong against the CCP and the moral decay, and supposition they want to create here. You are an inspiration in that sense my friend.

It‘s the same here in Switzerland. We complain all the time but forget how well we are actually doing. We take everything for granted and have become complacent. At the same time we enjoy so much freedom that we don’t even appreciate anymore.
Europe in general 😢
Switzerland is ACTUALLY doing well, unlike the USA.

Your kiddo's words at the end just made my whole day...and it's genuinely heartwarming as an American to hear a transplant say such kind things about my homeland. Yes, we've got our issues--some extremely concerning ones, even. We aren't anywhere approaching "perfect", & like anywhere on Earth, occasionally some asshole will cause problems...
...BUT... I've very rarely not felt absolutely safe in my home, while out driving, or at work. Corruption by LE or the .Gov of course does exist, but I've not personally seen it, nor or been effected by it. My water is clean & safe, & if it tastes a bit weird because perhaps I live in the desert like the American SW, I can buy cheap, clean/safe h2o anywhere. Food is plentiful, safe, & nobody need ever go hungry. Work, if you desire it, is absolutely available. There are so damn many awesome benefits here that so many of us take for granted - but not some of us.
Thank you so much for this insight on your part. Subbed & glad I found you.
Great video! Starting today, I'm focusing on all the great things in America 🇺🇸. There is far more positive things than negative things. XOXO Rosie
I live in Australia and find there is now an ever growing culture of complaining. I always remind those complaining of the freedoms and lifestyle we enjoy in this country compared to most other countries in the world. I implore them to travel abroad to places like Cambodia, China, Africa, Mexico etc where there is corruption, extreme poverty, war, extreme religious beliefs and no hope of better life. Those of us lucky enough to be born in first world countries such as here, the US, Canada, the UK etc should give thanks every day for the life we have been granted.
Mate, stop eating raw roo meat, move your feet out of straya. China is in different world. You see it then you come back here and you can judge this dude.
I think that's a natural fault in human nature caused by us in the "first-world" having things come easy for a long time, so we find ourselves fixating on truly irrelevant things that someone in the third world would think was ridiculous. We had a hurricane here in Florida, USA a couple of years ago and my area had some trees down but relatively minor damage. Just 2.5 hours away by car in the coastal areas, they experienced winds nearly 3 times the speed we did, along with 4-6 meters of sea water intrusion (surge).
People in my area were complaining that it was taking too long for the crews to come and pick up the piles of tree branches from the roadside, and were complaining that it looked bad in front of their homes. I pointed out that some of our neighbors a couple hours away were living in tents in grocery store parking lots because their homes and everything in them was now a debris pile, not just some unsightly tree branches. Their neighborhoods were declared unsafe to enter until crews could clear powerlines, flipped over cars and random boats or other debris from the roads so they could start to evaluate damage and file insurance claims. I didn't mind some piles sitting if it allowed us to send more resources to those who were truly suffering. It seems many of us don't understand the difference between a minor inconvenience and losing everything you own, and in some cases, everyone you love. Just 45 miles away in the Bahamas (small island nation), there were no government crews cleaning up or helping people after hurricanes, and no functioning jobs or businesses to get supplies from. There were whole islands where all buildings were destroyed and people were digging through rubble looking for canned goods to eat. My community and many others collected donations and chartered private flights to help keep people from starving to death. So close, but so far away.
It is like he said, because we are doing ever so much right, the areas where we are not quite doing as well as we would like, they stand out and we focus on them. Whilst in truth everything is going pretty damn well.
If you go to China, you will be more disappointed in the government.
Dude we can't vote out a speed camera down under...we get more of them! lol. Also talk about nanny state, we just turn to the government to fix everything for us....maybe that's just the wait awhile state 🤣
Mr.Sterzl (sp?), America is very fortunate to have you and your family join us. By the way I am a 66 yr old African American, and I have no excuses for American mistreatment of minorities. Thanks for using your platform for stating your experiences and the truth. I have traveled a little bit. I married a Chinese woman. Spot on. America is the best even with it's problems.
Thank you Winston. As a community college prof for 26 years in the sciences, I had students from all over the world. Many of would get upset when they heard Americans complaining about the US. They, like you, came from countries all over the African, Asian and central/S American continents and they knew first hand the stark advantages of a country like the US where freedom is taken seriously. They too marveled at the infrastructure and the systems in place to serve every facet of our populace. I’m thankful every day to have been lucky enough to be born here. I know my grandparents left Italy and Ireland to come to America with nothing in their pockets but a will to work very hard. I’m a product of the American dream and I don’t take it for granted.

Yes, outside influences are causing young Americans to hate their own country.
They would compare a brand new Train Station in China to a 100 old one in New York and brag about how great it looks.
😂😂😂
Yes. Countries like China sweep their problems under the rug & exaggerate American problems to distract from their own. Ironically, all it does is allow their problems to get worse. They would be better off allowing people to criticize their problems.

Exactly this is so true! I came from Ecuador at the age of 9. Although I love Ecuador and visit from time to time, I count my blessings here in the US and this has been my home for 24 years. I love the US there's so much opportunity here.
I can confidently say, that the level of freedom astonished me when I left my country, nobody was blowing religion and propoganda to my face nor did i learn more of these "arabic words". I have never looked back, and I thank my parents for their courage to move out everyday.
Great show! Really appreciate you pointing out the good things here in America. There's a lot of things that we should be grateful for and we are not and it's nice to hear from somebody who knows how bad it can be and can enjoy the luxuries that America does have to offer. Thanks!
Great program as always. I came from China in the late 80’s. I have been keenly aware of the freedom and liberty I am enjoying every day here in America. Let’s work together to keep this country the best❤
And you havent seen USA is becoming China? Pull your head out your....!
I am Australian. Most of the news we get from the US constantly shows how "bad" things are over there. Thank you for this breath of fresh air. All we can do to make sure democratic countries thrive is to do the right thing and look after those around us, so long as we do that the rest will take care of itself. Love from "down under"
Here in the US most of what we hear about Australia is related to crocs or giant spiders and snakes! It's on my bucket list to visit someday as I love the outdoors and would love to see the different wildlife and terrain you have (I'll pass on the huntsman spiders, though!). I think many Americans have Australia on their bucket list. Peace from 'Murica🙂
A great message that all Americans need to hear in this age of division we find ourselves in!
Thanks for the great content and excellent videos, especially the China ones. The road trips on the bikes were outstanding.
We need more immigrants like Serpentza in USA who, while having a LARGE audience, can remind us ALL: "You don't know how good you have it here in this country."
😂
This country has many issues.
@@Cbd_7ohm Sure I can see that since I live here. And yes, it's getting worse which happens when a demented president gets elected. But that said, I was talking to my friend from Pakistan who told me that (like Winston shocked by US Mail doing it's job), no one does their job. They're in constant rolling blackouts in large cities like Karachi. Everyone has a generator because power is so unreliable. Yeah, we're still the best game in town.
Open border isn’t working for you
most immigrants are like Winston, grateful to be here and willing to work and make a difference. Its what has made America great from the beginning. Add to that our constitution and bill of rights, regardless of your place in the political spectrum, you have a voice and a place.

I'm proud that you're an American now and I wish you and your family all the best. If you ever get to east Tennessee hit me up and I'll take you to all the best hidden forest spots, lakes, and secret waterfalls.
Thank you for sharing your perspective on the U.S. Apart from one year abroad, I've lived in the U.S. for almost 70 years. With this video's help, I would like to begin focusing on the good things here rather than on all the bad (and as you mentioned, there is plenty bad that one could focus on).
This is global problem. I come from Czechia, and people whine and complain non-stop, all while those people are more well-off than most of the world.
Here in the US, the biggest whiners are driving around in their $70,000 extended cab pickup trucks.
It's nowhere near as bad as it is in Burgundy. Literally, the only thing that comes out of there is wine, wine wine and more and more wine.
I'll see my way out
Same in Hungary. If you read the media (you know, the media which is not free and completely under state control), you can read that there is no freedom of speech (in fact you can read it in a dozen media outlets, so much for state mind control monopoly), there is corruption, autoritarianism and people are just saving up money to flee for good. Let's also not forget about those cannibal far rightist who hate everyone. But then, you visit the country and realize that people of all kind of minorities are A-OK, there are annual minority rallies organized that are cosidered risky in Western countries which are described in the press as the heaven on earth. Provoking and gaslighting people is good business because they like to complain and project their issues on others.
The globalists know you are better off. They are not trying to help other nations catch up. They WANT YOU to accept VAST reduction in living standards. You will be invaded by the third world (diversity ya see), and your functional systems of society will be destroyed. Farming, energy, private transport, equality (that is not the goal of EDI or ESG). Tread carefully.
Whining make stuff better.
We used to have kings and people whined for more rights- boom, bill of rights.
Then more influence- boom, democracy.
Content people do not change the world, you have to whine a bit, it is good for the soul.
