A Chinese restaurant in my state of Michigan, in one of our large cities, was shut down after they were caught selling dog and cat meat as beef and chicken. We had ordered from there earlier that week where I worked and I had pointed out that something seemed off about the chicken and beef dishes we had gotten. I had ordered chicken and it didn't look like any kind of chicken I'd had before as well as having a very unusual texture and different taste when I tried eating it. I think I had one or two peices before I looked at my boss and said I think somethings off. We inspect each other's meals and ultimately us and our other co-worker ended up all throwing out our meals. I had grown up hunting and had still never seen anything like it before. I only know for sure it was happening because it made the news. This was about 19 years ago though.

I’m from Europe and I studied in Asian studies department. I used to host Chinese students exchange in my university every year.
Despite knowing a lot about Chinese ppl and culture I was still SHOCKED by the behavior of the students.
They would jump in the middle of the street or in front of a tram to take picture. We had to watch them like little children otherwise they would get in trouble or cause accidents.
They would spit out food, bones at the table while eating.
They ruined the dormitories they stayed in. They trashed them beyond believe, flooded bathrooms with water , clogged toilets with chicken bones and trash. It was a true horror.
Most didn’t know English despite the fact they were supposed to, in order to attend classes at our university.
I must point out these were rich kids from good schools and big cities not villagers. All of them had expensive luggage, newest iPhones and MacBooks. Many were so distracted that they would loose their credit cards, phones, tablets. They just left them on buses or train stations.
Some lost entire suitcases and without worry just went to the shopping mall and bought new clothes, new iPhones, new MacBooks etc
    It was surreal.

If the meat is farmed and basic standards of care is met during the farming and slaughter of the animal then by all means go ahead. What I don't understand is torturing an animal before death. Like that's pure done for some sick pleasure. The meat is ruined and will taste bad if the animal suffers. I grew up on a farm, I've slaughtered poultry and cattle many times since I've been a teenager. Never once did the animal know what was coming and you have to do it quickly and efficiently. It's bonkers to me why you'd torture the animal.

I’m not saying there should be beatings in rural China for control. What we need is proper education of the masses albeit, in China’s case it has come with influence from the CCP. We always speak about diversity, multiculturalism, inclusion etc. but we should seriously start describing cultures and pointing out of bad habits one culture has that others don’t.
I am ok with tolerating and respecting other views but we should have critical thinking, be honest and realistic and that’s why I liked this video, it is so hard today to find such genuine content that when you find you can’t not appreciate it.
Another thing I like is that you didn’t randomly insult chinese people and their culture but you show in a video and spoke from a knowledgeable traveller perspective.
I am sick of videos sh*tstorming the west just because is the trend of these years and saying “life in Russia is great”, “in China there are no homeless, everything is clean and everybody is happy and leaving the dream”.

The majority of Chinese netizens against it even making videos mock on animal lovers who agree with the new dog and cat meat ban policy. I born in the biggest city of Guangdong next to Shenzhen, it is common to see dog meat selling in wet markets here. The rates of rabies infection were high in Guizhou, Guangxi and Guangdong in the past 30 years according to Guangxi local health department's official website. I saw there were cats sold in some restaurants also my parents took me to eat snakes and pangolins when I was young. I think it is not easy for China to go from a poor country to a great achievement in 50 years. Westerners use their own western culture, western vision and western values to comment on an Eastern country. I think westerners are more likely to expect other countries and people to be like them, in line with their own values. From the macro point of view, China's poverty was directly related to the western countries' war of aggression. The western colonial rule of China began at the end of the Qing Dynasty, when China wanted to develop education and economy. If you really wanted China to be a better country, you wouldn't have invaded China for a century. If you don't like the backwardness of China's interior then reflect on what you have done to China for 200 years. Today's China is not about sunrise, but restoration to the China of 4,000 years ago. Your denigration and attack on China will not be effective. I will not state Chinese weapon system here. Chinese people have the habit of eating dog meat, but it is gradually decreasing every year, some cities do not even have dog meat restaurants, such as Shenzhen and Shanghai can hardly find dog meat restaurants. Don't eat any meat if you sympathize with animals, not just dogs, treat dogs as your friends and companions, that's your choice, don't criticize others. There's a big difference between loving animals and forcing people to accept dogs as friends and companions. The latter is selfish. Japanese people eat whale meat, Malaysia and south koreans eat dog meat, italians eat cheese with maggots, thais australians eat crocodile meat, and kangaroo meat, the eskimos eat canned seals and the swallow, Nordic edible herring, and the Chinese in gradually reduce to eat dog meat, if you like to comment on meat I can review with you all day, And it's a biased kind of topic.
How about Colonialism、Pirate culture、Racism 、Shooting in your place?

I think it's their unequivocal loyalty and unconditional love that gives them a certain purity that unfortunately does not exist within humans which is why they hold such an elevated status in my heart, if that makes sense.

Humans are flawed because even with our intelligence we find pleasure in the suffering of others. Animals, generally speaking, only cause harm in self-defence or to get food. Sometimes an animal will play with its prey but they are not necessarily intelligent enough to realize their own actions.
A dog's loyalty is pure. From a dog's perspective their owner is their whole life. They love you for who you are if you treat them well. Even if you treat them like shit they will still love you sometimes.
