  • This video explains my method used to point stonework. Pointing old stonework or brickwork is a specialised job but with this simple video, you can easily restore your stonework. It is a relatively straightforward job that can be undertaken by any competent person with a bit of instruction and training from this guide.

What a great video. I'm just at the planning stage of doing around my pool. This has taken away some concerns. Well done

The way I do these joints is to mix in some concrete acrylic adhesive and keep the mix on the dryer side. I shape the pointed end of a small triangle trowel round and thats what I use to joint it like you would if filling in brick/block joints. Just loading off a large trowel and press it in. Goes very fast and minimal cleanup.

Grout bag is best suited for this you pipe cement in then wait 10-15mins until it's ready to scrap back

Thanks for that comment you’re probably dead right. All I was trying to show was how I did it in the 70s

I enjoyed your vid very much. Why is the mix so strong please? I have enormous Welsh slates in my home, 3 inches thick and 1 metre by 1.5 metre, They are laid and I am going to grout between them. I was going to do 3:1, do you reccomed another mix? I am going to put charcoal dye in the mix too. I thought: 3 sand, 1 cement, 1 dye. Thank you in advance. From Moira : - )

Been looking for comprehensive guide to repointing crazy paving. Best one so far. One point, would a dryer mix cut down on the staining/cleaning off the paving? Some people mention ‘less water, stronger bond’
