Yeah, her character is just way too overpowered, makes it less interesting. If it was so easy to singlehandedly take out the most powerful battleship in the galaxy, why didn't she just do that at any point in the last 20 years she was flying around in space? I also found it interesting she seemed to be stronger than Thanos with all 6 Infinity stones, even though her powers are based on being exposed briefly to only 1 stone.
It would have made more sense to just have her movie come out after Endgame, but Kevin Feige wanted to shoehorn her into the movie anyway.

I'm rewatching this and seeing mantis in the team and I'm laughing my head off thinking of her just walking up to the enemies and touching their heads telling them to sleep. Like I feel like she's a bit outnumbered.

True, I thought it was realistic, he should win against her. But I love how she gets beaten down and still gets back up - something she and Steve both do so well. He was about to snap his fingers but she intervenes at the last second, while Cap and Thor are both still down. Danvers is scrappy and I love to see it.
same goes with the hulk vs thanos .. they match in terms of strength, but when it comes to fighting style, thanos gets the upper hand
(but yeah, in the comic, hulk just gets angrier and stronger, but this isnt the comics)

Except she DOESN'T have an Edge in power. Unless you count shoehorned-in-Plot-Power. 'Lazy writing' power. Like literally give it half a second's thought. All of Captain Marvel's power(at least in the cinematic universe) is because she absorbed a tiny fraction of energy that exploded out from ONE Infinity Stone. In this scene Thanos has the full power of ALL the infinity Stones.
In what possible way could it ever make sense for her to power through him like that? This was one of the most singularly stupid moments in MCU and probably the moment that marked the start of the steaming shitshow to come in Phase 4.
It's even more stupid from a storytelling perspective when you realize they completely killed Captain Marvel's prospects as a character. They turned her into a complete creative dead end.
If she can somehow overpower the fully assembled infinity gauntlet what the hell could they POSSIBLY make her fight in her own movies that she won't just effortlessly steamroll? It's now impossible to write a story for her with any sense of stakes or risks which means anything you write for her now is just boring. They either have to use a bad plot device to make her less powerful, or a bad plot device to make her opponents more powerful and both of those options lead to a whole other set of creative and narrative issues.
This was the moment that destroyed any hope of a good movie for Carol Danvers.
After seeing Multiverse of Madness, "don't worry" from Wanda is more than enough.
I mean, Captain Marvel can fly many times faster than speed of light. She appears to rescue tony and nebula, and is seen a few moments later she is seen landing at the Avengers HQ holding the ship. We also know that it's been 22 days since Thanos snapped, as a character mentionned it earlier. So Captain Marvel travelled a hundred light years in 1 days. And yet Thanos can throw his double edged sword faster than she flies .-.

She was about to, that's why Thanos yelled "rain fire". She was crushing him with his own armor and it freaked him out.
She was just about to win when Thanos ordered literal orbital bombardment to get her off his back. And defending against cannons designed to obliterate spaceships while at the same time crushing Thanos, one of the most powerful beings in the galaxy is too much even for wanda. At least wanda without the darkhold.

I will forever love the all female assembly part in the movie but I’ll keep saying it. It’s incomplete without Black Widow (the first female avenger). She needed to be in that all female lineup. 😢it doesn’t pop the same without her.

Every single scene in the endgame tugged on my heartstrings. I'm heavily disappointed in what they did with the MCU later.
In Avengers infinity war, Thor was able to take out thanos's army with his axe, and also destroy his space ships.

Stark made the choice to sacrifice himself more than once, e.g. in Avengers with the wormhole, but got lucky and survived. This time he's not so lucky. He's got an annoying mouth, but he's ready to sacrifice himself for people he doesn't know. I just noticed. In Danvers and Thanos’s fight, Thanos couldn’t beat her through force. Not because she’s stronger, but because he literally just took the full force of the gauntlet. The same force that even the Hulk, the being almost designed to take said force, was injured by. Taking that in perspective, I believe it’s very possible that Thanos was weakened and could’ve beaten Danvers if he hadn’t just taken the full force of the Infinity Gauntlet.
This is Thanos reasonably at his full natural might. Before the stones did anything to him. Though to be fair his entire writing was just lazy. Its pretty well established in all his other media he avoids the Hulk because he get stomped. So...

I know Carol's power draw is supposedly limitless, but even if the scene had her say she burned through a ton of power to get there so quickly and to destroy the ship, and she needed 30 seconds or so to power back up, even that could've gone over a bit better. I still love the scene, but Carol didn't need an ounce of help lmao
exactly. I don't like her character. Someone decided she is the strongest and well, there she is. Make her having to actually absorb energy to be as strong, make her struggle like everyone else and then you can show us why she can the as strong as marvel want us to believe.

I loved Captain Marvel in this movie, but it's worth noting that the Thor of the comic books could have torn Thanos' gunship asunder with his storm powers. The watered-down MCU Thor, not so much.

THey had to nerf him so Danvers could shine... By using Thor's maneuver of flying through ships. Everything they did with her was an afterthought or copied from somebody else. They could have done so much more with her.
Literally every character is watered down cause if they did them strictly off comics the cgi would be extremely expesnive and movies and shows wouldn’t be an hour to a 2 hour film they stray off corse to give it the length and the realistic feel if not it would be considered lazy writing if it ended as quick as it started and then they would have to introduce to many characters just to build up to their main point that’s a lot of money even though comics are short they are very detailed
