    A small correction for 01:14:
    The huge message there is actually the rules, first option means "Yes, I have read it and accept" and the second is the opposite. When you got kicked from the server, it was because you did not choose any option, or you accidentally pressed "2" to switch weapons after you shot. The kick message says "You did not accept our rules."

    Zombie Escape for life! Literally, as I've dedicated about 11 years of my life to this mode already 😄 it would be great to see it officially supported one day, but I hope that Valve, at that point, keeps the many options and customizeable plugins and stuff open for community servers to keep exploring with. They would basically have to 'hire' or at least consult the biggest server owners and regulars to get a good insight in what makes Zombie Escape so fun! Thanks for bringing it up in the video 😉

      Same story here. Dedicated to Zombie Escape since 2013 on my crappy laptop. So far it is the only mode I poured hundred of hours in CS:GO, aside Deathmatch.
      In SE Asia, only 2 servers have low ping that is NOT operated by Chinese: Zeddy (Singapore/Indian) or Possession (Japanese). The other that US/EU/AU based are always at 200+ ping.

When I got back to SEA, I couldn't even connect to those servers anymore because of the extremely high ping. When I got CS:GO back when it became F2P, first and only ZE server I've ever been to is Zeddy's. Great ping from over here & now I could dodge lazers without blaming the ping. Haven't played there since 2020 because CS:GO keeps fucking over the custom textures each update plus I have so little space on my laptop to accommodate those updates, textures & skins. Hopefully when I get a new PC I can start playing again.

    Honestly Surf Deathmatch is another underrated one.
    Imagine moving at lightspeed, whilst scoping with an awp to shoot other people moving at light speed. Its also surprisingly easy because its difficult for people to change their direction in mid-air or on a surf ramp, so shots like that are really consistent. Or sneaking up behind people with a shotgun in mid-air near the speed ramps
    I remember absolutely dominating in surf ski nova, its just this limiteless perpetual surf playground of sorts with the occasional speed ramp.

    Jailbreak was awesome. Sometimes you spawned into a cell where you could break the wall and hide to get into the weapon chambers. When you started shooting chaos erupted and the other prisoners tried to get their chance. If it failed, some of the prisoners had to go into a gas chamber.
    The nice part about this game mode are the creative games in the map that you had to win in order to survive while it was intense to maintain the order as a policeman.

    VIP was a brilliant mode. Lots of nostalgia playing Oilrig, Tundra, Riverside and Highrise but Philip forgot about the Escape mode (es_). A mode where all the terrorist have to either kill all the CTs or go to the escape zone in order to win. The mode was unbalanced because terrorists wouldn't be able to buy guns and after a few rounds, all players switch teams. The glitch when players swap teams is that they spawn in the next round with the weapons they last used if they stayed alive of course. Fun mode.

    what i trully miss the most about this is a feeling of beeing a part of something once you settle for a server of your choice. I used to frequent a semi normal defuse maps server with a lot of regulars and after couple of weeks of playing everybody would say hello to me when i joined and i would actually recognise who these people were even if they had changed their nickname. It was a very nice community everyone would ask if anybody knew something about the players that didn't show up for a longer period of time clearly missing them. It made this game about cold blooded killing actually heartwarming.

    • @wutaf0ck
      @wutaf0ck Před rokem +1

      Can relate to that, completely.
      The sense of community gets lost with centralized systems like matchmaking. It's all about that grind to rank up and get better.
      I still play some CS 1.6 from time to time, usually on the same two servers and that feeling is still there.
      I would argue that it is one of the reasons that some older games stay alive.

I played on a server called Sourcecode which had auto bhop permanently on which added so much complexity to the game, knife kills while bhopping were especially fun. That server had such a solid community with so many regulars. Minigames are like Warioware but in counter strike. I loved that you had to be good at a range of things as not all minigames involved combat.

And it makes me sad, that the new generation of players needs to be reminded that CS is so much more than matchmaking with all it has to offer. But I feel like the benefit of official matchmaking, even thou it was an important step forward, takes away the focus from those other activities. You are just not invited as much to look further. What I am missing the most are the gungame servers. I just loved to hop on a random server with eg. Simpsons mod installed and just play for 15 minutes. The benefit beeing, that every server had totally different maps. I feel like that totally died down, or at least the community interested in such things did.

    Regarding zombie modes, i would also like to point out Base Builder mode which in 1.6 involved building your own base using many custom props, planks and surfaces you could reposition around the map. I don't know if it has an implementation in csgo yet
    HnS or Hide and Seek mode is and extension of bhop/surf/kz modes where CTs have to chase down the Ts with their knifes around the play area. Maps are not linear like Deathrun of KZ/Bhop and involve more ladders, high buildings, trick jumps designed to give you the opportunity to outsmart you opponent until the clock runs out.
    We also had Furien mode, the Ts play as high hp zombies that are invisible while stationary. They can also climb walls and freeze in different spots. The CTs usually run around the map with limited ammo trying to either survive or kill them.
    Also, Deathrun mode, but it's always been pretty popular so it needs no further introduction

The main objective for prisoners isn't usually escaping. Rather, they compete to win "Last Request" (LR), essentially deciding what happens on the next day (round). Prisoners can rebel and try to kill the guards, of course, but the games during a day are the main draw. It's a much more social game than others, so if that's not your cup of tea or you can't find a good community then you won't enjoy it.

      @@markkisthebest I have to agree, I spent a few months playing jailbreak with a community I got very close with, but having learned all the secrets and mastered the minigames I realised that I was wasting an unnecessarily large amount of time on jailbreak. Despite the fact it was so much fun, it certainly made me a fair bit more degenerate and I can still go back and give it a play for a night every now and then.

      Andrew I’m not OP, but I’ve seen this exact same thing happen to old friends. He’s most likely referring to how people generally tend to absorb traits of the people around them, **especially** at a younger age. CS players can be quite odd and sometimes outright flammatory people, so hanging around a small community server for awhile at that age may have caused him to pick up some of their behavior, vocabulary, and/or humor for better or worse.
      Although it didn’t really have the same effect on me, I get what you mean. I have a lot of nostalgia for playing community servers as a kid because kids are judgmental as fuck, but you wouldn’t need to worry about that in a cs server. You could just be yourself, and whenever anyone ever talked shit, it’d be something to laugh off. They’re a great social outlet and I didn’t have anything like that at the time despite the flaws.

    as_oilrig used to be one of my favorite maps, and I had a blast with VIP mode, including being the VIP (who had a USP only and 200 armor btw). The only thing that sucked about it was when a terrorist could quickly place themselves in a forward area and assassinate the VIP within seconds of the round starting, but that was something you had to watch for. Maybe next you could do a video about older map types that were popular, like rats_ and the nipper houses, along with whatever fun ass maps you can think of.

    • @zgaminggallery9910
      @zgaminggallery9910 Před 2 lety +1

      It was really fun on a full 32 slot server, CTs had to move in groups and whichever groups makes it through to the escape zone would be followed by the vip, whenever there was coordination the map easily became ct sided. UNLESS a T pulled out a huge multikill in the end.
