FumeFX 5.0.1 and Arnold Renderer Support

  • FumeFX 5.0.1 builds on top of the FumeFX 5.0 simulation refinements and speed improvements to deliver even faster simulation times.
Thanks to additional QCG solver and Wind space warp optimizations, FumeFX scenes that include Wind space warp could simulate twice as fast as the FumeFX 4.0.
Another important update is direct Arnold renderer support so that users don't have to go through the .vdb caches workflow anymore. Two new shaders bring the best from both worlds.
There are two possible methods of rendering FumeFX 5.0.1 with Arnold renderer in 3ds Max.
The first option is to render with new built-in FumeFX Arnold Volume shader which is very similar to Arnold Volume, but allows using .fxd caches.
Another option is to render by using the Standard shader as you would render with Scanline renderer of VRay.
Both animations in this clip were rendered with FumeFX 5.0.1 and Arnold in 3ds Max 2018.

Truly amazing. I love TFD but come on people, stop comparing that or any other fluid to this world class software... I am not a fanboy (maybe a little) just being realistic... Like these renders...

      Hello,
You just need to enable the GPU Viewport display. It is available for 3ds max 2016 and up.

To render fire with Arnold, you need to export Fire and Temperature to the FumeFX caches. Please check this tutorial for more details:
