"The Green Hills of Tyrol" is the next tunes in a new series where we breakdown all of the classic Scottish bagpipe tunes in a manner that anyone who can play basic notes and grace notes can learn them! We start with the tune lengthened out to 4 times its normal speed, so quarter notes become whole note, eighth notes become half notes, but more importantly, the embellishments are opened up and spelled out with REAL notes (rather than simply a jumble of gracenotes) to show exactly how they are played!

Tyrol is an area along the border between Italy and Austria. It has been claimed by both over generations. My neighbor's family is from there.

Brilliant! Thank you! By the way, for the pronunciation listen to Andy Stewart's "A Scottish Soldier'. My grandfather had this as a 45rpm single and it's always been a favourite of mine. I only found out later it's also a piping tune, well, a Piping Tune 🙂

Normally it’s “All the Blue Bonnets Are Over the Border” but on this video, it’s the tune I’m teaching here.
