I just don't understand why they make these shows with CGI "main characters" and then sideline them for obvious reasons, CGI costs money. If they aren't prepared to make the main character the focus of the story, then the show is pointless, because people want to watch for the character on the title. This happens way too often.

Yea, and I don't get it, why the hell don't they just go the route of the super mario movie, and make the whole thing CG? Then all the characters look like each other and its not so jarring in the mixed scenes.

Knuckles was a pretty good side character, they should give him his own series one day like Imagine having a show called knuckles and have 90% of the show focus on a random comedic relief character. Yeah I’m sure that’s exactly what people were wanting from this show

Yeah the show just feels like it’s trying to appeal to people who are mildly interested but In these but only because of the humans instead of trying to appeal to actual fans of this series
I was thinking the Bowling tournament plot point seemed very 90s or early 2000s, it seem random and kinda out of place in the Sonic movie universe

What is with this trend where a show is called "Knuckles" or "Obi-Wan" and SO many more and the show is literally not about them and you rarely ever see them. Its like playing God of War Ragnarok and you can't even play as Kratos. I remember playing Phantom Pain and they did it so well that they hinted you were not Solid Snake but you were led to believe you were so you could spread his legend even more.
Because you wouldn't watch it if it was called "Wade" or "Reva"

There are some fans out there that call it the "bait-and-switch" effect.
Put simply, studios hype up the audience for a character you came to see only to then later on focus on another character you never came to see.

My 8 year old boy is a huuuuuuge Sonic fan. We have been counting the days for this show to come out. There were some cool parts but during episode 3 he looks at me and says, “can we fast forward this? His sister is weird.” Lol

That whole "Flames of Disaster" and "Knuckles totally fought and beat Iblis" is such a deviation from the canon, i have no idea what the writing team is doing.
Well it was just a dream sequence that was mainly an excuse to have a rock opera scene, I wouldn’t take it too seriously.

@@Biostar96 Well if it makes you feel any better that demon he fought wasn’t Iblis, it’s called fire demon in the credits and its puppeteers were credited as “fire demon puppeteers”. So they can still introduce Iblis as a separate character in a future movie.

As someone who is a massive Sonic fan and a fan of the movies as well, I absolutely hated this show. This show is just cringe all around and a complete waste of time. How the critics rated this HIGHER than Sonic 1 and 2 is beyond me.

I respect your right to like those movies, but I just dont get how you can like both of those. They're like 10% good, with the other 90% of it being cringe garbage.
@@NotoriousTim highly disagree lol. First one was a generic animal and human adventure but it had heart and Sonic didn't feel sidelined unlike this show. Plus Tom Wachowski is actually extremely likeable, Wade just isn't.
Sonic 2 was amazing imo and really respected the games and it's characters.
This show just exists and adds pretty much nothing to the franchise.

The second one had major improvements, but still had 45 minutes of pure filler of humans doing things because it's cheaper. Also shocked people like the Knuckles series, it's all the worst aspecta of the first movie dialed to 11.
I don't understand this. People wanted to see Knuckles, right? So...why make the series centered around someone else who is not only NOT Knuckles, but the DIRECT opposite of him? It boggles the mind.
They hired the likes of Kid Cudi, Rory McCann and Christopher Lloyd for this series… *AND WASTED ALL OF THEM!*

So fun fact. Sonic fans have been divided since 2005. They have not agreed on a single issue regarding Sonic between that year and now. And if you think this miniseries is an exception, it is currently at a higher rating than both the first and second Sonic movies. Sonic fans are divided on this too.
The only times that 97% of the fans have been united since 2001 was with Sonic Generations and Mania

There were mixed opinions about that game right out the gate and people are still divided on it to this very day. And this happened with Generations too because purists didn't like the remixes of City Escape. And it'll happen again with Sonic X Shadow Generations because now there's talk that the Shadow segments are using the same engine as Forces.
I wouldn't say "divided". There were disagreements, but atleast they all still enjoyed the franchise for what it was. I don't think i've ever seen them actualy divided, its more like critical of the series. The main moment they started to get divided was when Colors debuted, and after the bad games released after Generations.

I dont know why everyone is so surprised by the fact that Wade is the main focus. You could tell by the trailer that the human characters would be a big part of the show.

1:20:59 They are making a reference to Shadow as a way to hype up the 3rd movie, in a really strange and shoehorned way. In Sonic 2's Post Credits Scene, they mention Project Shadow, a research project that G.U.N. was conducting, and if it's like the games, it's their answer to the Ultimate Weapon and Eternal Life, hence Shadow's name as The Ultimate Life Form. While it'll probably work differently to the games, they do get a few things the same way, such as how Shadow is a Research Project that G.U.N. was somewhat in charge of, and the time of events. In Sonic 2 they mention that the project was from 50 Years ago, just like how The Ark, the Research Station Shadow was created on was abandoned, and how long Shadow was in stasis on Prison Island in Sonic Adventure 2 before being awoken by Eggman. The reason the announcers specifically say 1974 is because that is 50 years before 2024, and that's why they say he wasn't Red. As to why the hell they're talking about Shadow going Bowling or in any sort of sports? No fucking clue, it's really stupid no matter how you look at it. This show didn't have the proper wrap up to Knuckles' story as is, no way they'd do a cool tie in scene for the 3rd movie.

My 3 year old loves the first 2 sonic movies and was super excited for this series. Halfway into episode 2 he got up and started playing in the other room 😂 I asked if he wanted me to pause so he could watch later and he goes “no I don’t like it” so even a 3 year old can tell this was dogshit
I will give them this.. I was not expecting an Alan Wake 2 music video parody in my Knuckles tv show. I was equally surprised, confused and disappointed but at least they managed to surprise me.

I personally thought it was enjoyable but I still agree with all the people that have problems with the show because it does have quite a few issues and questionable decisions. I think a funny detail is that the 4th episode has the least amount of knuckles screen time yet it seems to be the most focused on knuckles in terms of people talking/singing about him

1. For me (A sonic fan all my life since 93): I don't like it.
2. As an adult hardcore sonic fan: you won't like it.
3. As a child hardcore sonic fan: you might like it.
4. As a family show: you'll probably like it.

Ok ok there's one human they can't get rid of for the series and that's the GUN commander.....because he actually has a history with shadow.
He was on the Ark 50 years ago when shadow was created and was a close friend to Maria. So having that and having the ideal that shadow is what caused the Ark to be destroyed 50 years ago paints a very faint but understandable dynamic between Shadow and the gun commander.
I'm not really looking forward to Keanu Reeves as Shadow. Shadow isn't just a monotone voice. He has a lot of complexities that a good voice actor can convey. I don't think Keanu has that ability as an actor. I love Keanu, but I really wish they went in a different direction.
This was sad to watch as a sonic fan. Breaks my heart they just can’t get it right. Hard to watch 😔

I'll say right now, I think Episode 4 is going to end up being what is known as the 'unreliable narrator', where we're told some things about the past and they turn out to only be a partial truth, or completely false because it's just Wade dreaming it up.

2:55 The plot sounds like a sitcom from the 80’s or 90’s. Just good ridiculous goofy fun. The original Night Court… now that’s a funny sitcom! That manages to incorporate officers lawyers judges and a courthouse…and all the funnier for it.

The main problem with these live action movies and shows, it cost an inane amount of money to make a show/film purely focused on 100% CGI characters and that's why in the last two movies there were human dedicated scenes like in Sonic 2 to save costs and pan out run time. I'm worried about Sonic 3 cause if we have Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and then Shadow. That's already 4 CGI characters maybe more so I'm expecting a longer human dedicated scene again to pan out runtime and give false expectations that the movie is gonna be epic while it may not deliver.

Our whole family watched this and Godzilla X Kong. We all checked out of Knuckles and were all entertained by Godzilla X Kong.
Both were stupid, but we had so much fun with the other one. It can be stupid and still fun for the whole family. Knuckles (the show, not the character) was just stupid.
I hated this show… the only good parts was with knuckles but every time knuckles wasn’t around, which was most of it 🙄, it was HORRIBLE!

This was terrible and i hope they don't have a him gun agent running joke in shadow. Im scared for shadow now cus i was hoping more planet mobius and the chaotix. And we got wade. I love the knuckles solo run comics and was hoping for that paramount just made this terrible.
Will watch this with my eldest son (6) who loved the movies but if its more scenes like the wedding then i'm zoning out altogether
