Right, because somebody that doesn't have a drill will probably have a cut off wheel and a tac welder just laying aroundm

I understand that this method is crude, but I think it is very good to see a variety of crude techniques. I have access to modern equipment for manufacturing things I see on this channel, but I really value seeing the way this guy thinks. Excellent work and thank you for sharing!

Great job. I’ve got a spare hydraulic jack I’ll use your idea but on my jack. Lazy yes but at nearly 70 my days are over swinging lump hammers. Good man you did well.

    Great video!
My prefered method of punching holes is to take a pair of thick bars and weld them together, separated by a spacer which matches the thickness of the stock to be punched. Then I drill a hole through both bars at once, matching the diameter of the punch rod. I use tool steel roundstock and harden the end. The end is a flat face with sharp edges, at a slight angle to progressively shear through the stock.

It takes more setup but you can use a truck jack to do this instead of a hammer and it can give you cleaner holes and faster if you need multiple.
Car jack may work don't know if they are strong enough, if it was small enough holes I guess it would.

Grind down the nut so that the edge is sharp instead of concave. It will shear off better instead of stretching first.
