As both an Aussie and Celtic Fan, I was excited to say the least when Ange was appointed. Everywhere he goes, success follows. I couldn't believe the commentary around him joining, but I understand the passion for the club and the expected success; that said, I'm not surprised Celtic are 6 points clear, and I won't be surprised when he holds three pieces of silver at the season's end. The man is a legend.

Great job Hamish, i have just loved watching these old posts on how they rubbished and ridiculed Ange on his appointment - As an Aussie, i have followed his journey from day one and regardless on how many trophies he does win, you have to commend and admire the man for his humility and demeanor in brushing off criticism and just getting on with it ..this will put him in good stead in the wider football circles and no doubt his stock will continue to rise both as a manager and a well grounded and natured human being ! -

Most of us love Ange in Oz, but even here he had many doubters and its only now some people in Oz are realising his talent, it’s obviously understandable that people in Scotland would have so many reservations about a guy that has never been in the mix, which makes it all the more satisfying to have such a pleasant element of surprise, nice work on the channel!

Overall, Ange at Celtic is just a great story. Us Aussies (well, most of us) knew that he'd be doing something special at Celtic and it's been great fun following the story. As others have mentioned, it was natural for Celtic fans to have doubts in the beginning (with Ange not then being known in Europe), but I think the fans were probably onboard quicker than most. That's down to not only the results, but also how Ange presents himself, along with the style of play he demands - which is really a great fit for Celtic.
I'm looking forward to this story getting bigger and bigger.

I remember so clearly when Ange was appointed and spent time reading the comments from the fans. Almost to a man they did not want of had faith in a man who had not put a foot on Scottish soil, let alone got Celtic to kick a ball in anger. Then after the first early results, and with 10 points dropped early on, he was written off which was pathetic. Any manager needs time especially after what he inherited. I love he is his own man, never listens to those around him except those he chooses to listen to. He has a plan and the players who fit that plan. Every player he signed we had not heard of but are literally legends already. His transformation has been nothing less than that of miraculous in a mater of games and are on the cusp of another historic season. If we do end up completing yet another treble, I hope the doubters hang their heads in shame. HH ANGE

Pundits and former pro's or "experts" if you will, are paid to have an opinion, so will say whatever gets them the most likes and comments. I think what I like most about Ange is he's honest, he takes no bull in his press conferences, gets asked stupid questions and bats them away. For all the lazy journalism there was around Ange it's worth giving praise to the very few people who actually did their homework and didn't jump on the skeptic bandwagon. There's an excellent video of Gordon Strachan talking about Ange in pre season, speaking highly of him at a time when the entire media were condescending against him. I sat in the pub on the day Rangers drew with Hearts at Ibrox and said to my Hoops pals that this title would go down to the wire as Rangers could not replicate the previous season's form and Celtic could not under perform so badly. So it would come down to the Old Firm games. This is how normal people work out football results. And the minute Rangers started going further in Europe than Celtic - that put it beyond doubt. It happened in 2003, 2008, and now in 2022. Go far in Europe, lose the league.

He didn't buy his teams he built them with players that would fit his style. Didn't matter that they weren't household names they just fit. Not only did Hugh Keevins take an unjustified swipe at a manager he knew nothing about, but the whole "now we know what the Ange stands for" has a ring of xenophobia about it. It's the whole "let's ridicule the foreigner with the funny name" kinda vibe. Then when you take into account he actually mimmicked Ange's Australian accent in a derogatory manner on Clyde Super Scoreboard not long after (offensive af and would never be acceptable with the foreign manager of any other team) it really starts to take on a nasty feel. People who have followed his career know what type of man he is and the love of the game he has. To be honest, I thought the same. I thought it was just a panic appointment after the collapse of the Eddie Who deal. I didn't know who Ange was. But, after reading about his achievements and watching some interviews on CZcams, I already had a good feeling, even before his first game.

Like many other Aussie Celt fans here I was excited but also a bit fearful because of the state of the club at the time and whether he would have enough time and support to have an impact. The fact is he is a serial winner and he’s been successful again although quicker than many of us thought. Great person great manager. Now the club hierarchy needs to give him a longer contract and get right behind him. Where he’s had issues like with the national team it’s because of lack of support and vision from the suits in charge. PS my main concern now is that EPL clubs will come calling. I’d like him to have at least three seasons before that happens, and it will.

The initial negative reaction to Ange’s appointment shows the fear football fans have of the unknown. There was a similar reaction when Arsene Wenger was appointed Arsenal manager.

Having watched Ange's style raise the standards of the game in Australia both League and national teams I always believed he would be a success in Scotland (but surprised at how quickly).
Looking forward now to the competition raising their standards also to keep up as Ange continues to build a stronger and stronger team.
Can't wait to see what the next couple of transfer windows hold.

Angelos “Ange” Postecoglou may very well be the best thing to come out of Australia since Kylie Minogue’s hot pants because he has all these has beens lining up at the station doing the locomotion riding the Ange train, it’s probably best they stay quite 😂
You can’t blame people for not being able to say his name because in this video alone their are 17 different versions of his name in the closed captions. Highlights being:
    Ange post to calgo
    Post to cougar

Taking the transfers both ways into account which is the unbiased way to review this Celtic have spent - £11M to get to where they are i.e. they have an additional £11M in the bank and they have won the league spending less money than any team in Scotland.

I follow Celtic and I'm very happy they are doing well under Ange and more importantly playing football the right way. With due respect, we are talking about Scottish football. Scotland is small and relatively poor. Her team hasn't qualified for a World Cup for 25 years. The better players go South and don't play in Scotland. Most of the nonsense about his appointment from the likes of Alan Brazil flows from a bizarrely inflated view of the standard and importance of Scottish football. Someone who has coached Australia at a World Cup and won titles in Japan is overqualified for Celtic, not underqualified.

Aussie fan just with a genuine question for Celtic fans. Now you've witnessed the quality of Ange and the Japanese imports how do you think Celtic would do in the J-league hypothetically? Ange winning that league (and the Asian Cup with Australia) didn't seem to count for much a few months ago.

    • @JamesBond-si7xs
      @JamesBond-si7xs Před 2 lety

      That’s an interesting question mate.
Placing Celtic into a completely new environment such as the J league is intriguing.
Having not seen too many Japanese games, the only thing I would say is that the physical aspect of a team from Scottish football would be an advantage, but, other than that, and, based on the current squad, I think they would do fairly well.
If Ange, however, recruited more players from that side of the world, then, it could be pretty successful.
The J League is a very decent competition, with many good players.

    • @allanokeefe104

@@JamesBond-si7xs Celtic would always be challenging for silverware in the form they are in atm over there, on last seasons form Celtic would have been relegated from the J-league!...and I'm only half joking.

The quality of the Japan world cup teams of the last 2 decades has been higher than Scotland (understatement) but there's only a handful of Scottish players in the staring 11 these days. Another question arises in how well would the Japanese teams do against Scottish teams other than Celtic and Rangers. Pretty good. (another understatement). Remember critics always speak up. That doesn't mean they are the majority.

Recommend that people read his book, it is stuff like these comments that he leans into, to galvanises his resolve. He somehow uses it like a drug to help him manifest his dream of where he wants to take the team. If it is all smooth sailing something is amiss. I can't help but admire his way of walking in the world.
