- Today we have something a little different as me and storm explore the woods
We go in search of some abandoned ruins deep in the forest it’s hard going through the twisted and dense trees covered in moss and likens, temporat rainforest vibes as wee follow the river keeping an eye out for sings of an old building lost a long time ago

Thank you so much for taking us with you, I so enjoy seeing old buildings and historical things. Please do it more if possible! That was truly awesome Sean!
So agree - absolutely awesome & well done video. Thoroughly enjoyed "exploring" terrain & stone ruins with yous two (Sean + beloved sheepdog). Appreciate beautiful, dense scenery & rich narration. Greatly enjoy your channel & variety of topics covered. This was a magical atypical topic. With gratitude for all you share - Lynn C from Pacific Northwest Washington in the United States ❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you! Will do!
Agree, I love watching the dogs herd but I've watched them all, more adventures with dogs are great.@@seanthesheepman5845
@@lynnclark9289And I'm in the Canadian Pacific NW, a little north of the border. Love the walk through with Sean and Storm!
I was going to ask if Storm would carry you back to your house and then you said that Storm was doing a fine job of taking y’all back to your house.😁. Really, really enjoyed this video and the views! Thanks from Alabama!👍🇺🇸
What a fun adventure for you and Storm! If walls could talk, imagine the stories they would tell. Love the way Storm trusted you to lift her over the fence at the end of your trek. Thanks so much for letting us tag along!
Glad you enjoyed it!
The energy and zest for life (and work) of these dogs is truly amazing. Good dogs don't all go heaven, the really good ones go to sheep farms in Scotland.
Awesome... Stormie loves exploring
What a beautiful tour. it allows the puppy to roam and enjoy being a dog.💕
You are so kind
Nice to see you out exploring with your faithful companion, Storm. Very cool to have that piece of history on the property.
Glad you enjoyed it
I have a BC but I don't have sheep. I take her for adventures like this nearly every day to keep her exercised and keep her mind active. It's amazing how their mannerisms are so much alike. hanks for the VID.
stones, moss, and plenty of branches made for some great views. Storm makes it look so easy to get thru the tangle mess .. :)
You got that right!
I've always found the only problem with taking a collie through this sort of terrain is they will pick up absolutely every "jaggie wee stick", seed pod, conker, etc. around their hocks. As long as you keep up the grooming they are otherwise fairly low maintenance coat wise. The bumfluff though is super effective and gathering things found in forests. The "teflon" aspect to their coats means we just vacuum where dirt falls off but we've frequently had to snip fur to get twigs out before.
Its been a few years since I could tramp through the woods with my son and our dogs. I thoroughly enjoyed this video. Thank you so much! It was like I was there with you.
Our pleasure!
So great sheing storm enjoying a 1on1 playdate with you. Amazing how dogs working dogs know exactly when to work & when to play.
Thanks
That was very cool...love the history of old structures like that! Looks like Storm was having a blast running through all that brush...Kept looks back saying come on dad, you need to move a bit faster! Ha ha ha Thanks for taking us exploring! I am sure most of us would love to see you take us more places and share more history with us!!
Glad you enjoyed it
So cool to see into the Scottish woods!!And old structures hiding in all the brush and trees!Storm is surgical how she navigates all the branches! Thanks for the outing!
It was so good watching you and storm showing that bond you have. Your land is so unique to any other place. It's great exploring with someone you can trust not to run off. Been blessed that way too. It didn't surprise me when Storm knew the way home. She would have gotten you home if you needed the help. Border Collies have a way of bonding different than any other dog. It's from the heart. Thank you for the video. Would love more of them, and I believe Storm would too. Lots of history, love to learn about where you live !
This awesome little treasure. Maybe you might make an easier pathway to there from the farm house if you ever have the time. It would be an nice walk and meditative spot. Anyway, thx for taking the time to share this special place and other areas around the farm with Storm! ❤
Thank you
Those ruins are awesome! I'd restore them. Super cool. Storm was so obedient. So eager to explore. "Come on Dad, it's easy, do like this, come this way." So confident. As you were hurdling the fence, I thought, "he's slow. Young, healthy, put not excessively athletic. And then I saw you so gracefully and carefully carrying Storm over. Storm is at least 45 to 50 lbs. Sometimes I am stupid. The ruins are a treasure, spectacular, but what you hold on your arms so tenderly are your living treasures. God bless you and Stacey with a baby. God bless you with living treasures.
The ruins were wonderful, weren't they? I love how old structures and buildings were often made of stones like that. Clear the land for homesteading and rather than toss the stones, they use them to build. Fascinated how they knew how to stack and interlock them without mortar and even centuries later, they're still standing, they're so solid!
The creek and the sound of the creek are so beautiful! It looks so healthy. Like what the unkept ungroomed Garden of Eden would have looked.
Cool! I enjoyed the adventure - I feel like I've been somewhere today!
Agree - rich well-done adventure. Terrain reminded me of fond childhood memories of explorong our regional rainforest. Much moss, lichen but here experienced various ferns & what we kids called "needled trees." Greatly enjoyed tagging along on your guided adventure. Almost as exhilarating as the time I recall trekking in our woods, inadvertently slipping in the hill covered mudded earth & sliding down a small waterfall & splashing down into a wee pond. Cheers, Lynn C in Pacific Northwest United States
Thank you
Storm is your favorite I think...music is beautiful!! Plz be careful!
Wow! How to climb a tall fence with a wriggling dog over one's shoulder! I'd never dare! The walk is beautiful, and the ruins awesome. Love how they use tiny stones as a kind of mortar filling the cracks in the larger stones. Reminds me a bit of the Zimbabwe Ruins. Would love more of this.
I always worry about the Eyes of the dogs going thru woods. I watch my dog closely, but ya never know…it’s amazing how they come out unscathed…beautiful dogs dear
So true!
Yes, I kept thinking how does she not get thorns or splinters in her feet!
Yes it is! It is cool to find those types of things that make you think of the history there…..❤
It really is!
Cool video! I sooooo look forward to your videos! Storm being cute and wip-smart again
Yay, thank you!
That’s so cool! It’s so dense now but just imagine how many people would have done that walk up to that building, including the builders. How absolutely fascinating. Love how Storm was just running around, no problem for her to get through. Thank you for posting this.
Always a treat to see you all. Storm looks like she’s having the time of her life!
Loved this outdoor adventure with you and Storm. Loved hearing the water and seeing the old stone ruins. Thanks for taking us along. ❤
Storm had no trouble with the bush. She is such a great dog!
And she behaves so well 😊🐶🙋♀️
Collie is part cat ,part fox ,part dog

She loves the woods
Just love old buildings. Storm really enjoyed herself. There was a very old log home from the 1800's where we used to elk hunt. The big fires claimed it a few years ago. Made us all very sad a piece of American history gone. Have pictures of our sons by it though. All the moss and heavy growth is a lot like Wa. state's west coastal area where we raised 3 son's. Fun adventure Sean for you and Storm :) Awesome old ruin :)
Sounds great! Sad that it’s gone tho
Yeah, definitely a fun switch from your working videos! Thank you! Storm was stunning, as usual. :). Fascinating to see the walls of the building, too, and to imagine what it must have been like to build a shelter years and years ago.
Lad! From the ‘Eye of *the* Storm’, I tell ya!! Your doggos are the best. I love their loving and loyal nature - as well as intellect and work ethic. They personify the description [of] ‘top dog’.
That’ll do 😊.
Thank you
Such a lovely video to be able to share, thank you! Your videos are so wonderful..they make me smile and take me to a peaceful place. With all the violence in the world ; you show the wonderful life that is possible and rewarding.
That’s kind of you thanks
What I great adventure with you and Storm. Loved seeing the old ruins. History is always interesting. Thank you for taking us with you and Storm. And thank you for the perfect music for the video.....kudos to the person that selected the music. Great editing as well as always it is.
Wonder how old that structure is. Thanks for showing us your adventure with Storm. ❤😊 I love seeing your videos. 😊
Good question! Pritty old
WOW ❤! LOVE IT! SO COOL! I love moss. Thanks for the video
You are so welcome!
Your dog loves exploring with you💞😁🇺🇸💞thank you for sharing this. From seattle wa USA
Our pleasure!
My border collie was so good at finding her way home just like Storm. One time I lost my glasses and had to completely rely on her. Border collies have very good memories
I used to love having days out like that in the winter and autumn when I lived in England. Thank you so much for the reminder I could almost smell the moss and the greenery!
Cool video, I also like the history of things. I can only imagine how dense that forest area would be in the summer…
It really is thick in summer with vegetation
Trust in Storm, doesn't feel safe to venture through and I'm watching through a screen. So glad you came out ok stay safe 🤩 Well done Storm, that'll do! 😊
Love "that'll do"!!!
Thank you, I will
The idea of stone walls, such skilled masonry, that they still stand! Love exploring ruins!
Sheepman gets lost in the woods and whistles for his sheepdog to take him home!! 😅 ❤❤
That is quite dense for humans, but Storm is loving it! Those buildings were made by hand one stone at a time....wow! That took time. It would be easy to get lost in there! Nice adventure !
I love your videos.
I love the way Storm leads the way.
Love the hike in the woods! Storm loves it too and had no trouble getting around! I would have love to do that! Great video!
Thanks for watching!
Loved this❤. Living in America it is so cool to here of and see centuries old ruins. And right in your backyard! Thank you.
This is the best day EVER for Storm! Except for you slowing her down, lol.
Exploring ruins is always fun, interesting, and informative. Imagining what they used to be is a great way to spend a day.
Love seeing a dog enjoying a walk free to smell and sniff I stead of stuck on a leash. ❤❤
That dog is never on a leash.
@@user-dh6bj2me5ponly when they're on holiday in a town
The best!
Stormy, thinking there must be a sheep in here somewhere.😺
Good to see the dog getting a day off just to roam around. My BC’s enjoy it and seem to focus better when working. Mine love the beach!
Tho some of my earliest memories involve growing up as child of farmhands in the Midwest USA, second half of life was as a pastor in New England--- so have sat in many churches. Funny how our life experience shapes what we see! I saw those walls as church walls, with opening for bell and some fancy stonework on outside. You saw as farm pump house.
You're local and know your buildings while I've never been there, but together with storm, you took us on a ramble and we saw the woods and miss and new sights. What a great chance to exercise our imagination! Thank you.
Somehow the CZcams algorithm decided that I would enjoy sheep herding, Scottish, rural videos. Well, the algorithm was absolutely correct. I have been watching these videos almost nonstop for the past couple of days. For me, as someone living in a fairly large city in a "fly-over" state in the US, the whole life experience in these videos is new to me, and quite exotic. Your videos could boost tourism (a blessing and a curse) in your lovely land. I am so loving your videos. Thank you for sharing your lives. I tried to understand just what keeps me coming back to your videos, and I realized that you and Stacey (and the dogs, of course) have aspirations and plans, but are also content in the here and now. Not enough people seem content in their lives, and it is enchanting and inspiring to see you two young people living such a beautiful life. Congratulations.
A happy man with his happy dogs....perfect.
I would love to have some of those lichens for a dye bath. What a wonderful find. Your dog responds to your instructions immediately. He is a joy.
How much lichen would you need and is there any particular kind you use? I'm in the Pacific NW, near Vancouver Canada. So many different mosses and lichens here! I have a book on the plants in the Pacific NW that covers every native and the more common introduced species, from trees, shrubs, wildflowers to grasses, mosses and lichens and more. No fungi though. I've relied on that book for years.
Storm so happy to be with you his eyes tell everything and love toward you. ❤
Thanks
What a beautiful forest! It amazes me how much moss grows on the trees there. I loved seeing the old ruins, too!
Buildings were frequently used for lots of things over time. This was really interesting
Love this adventure thro' the woods with Storm 😍
You are so lucky to have this wild woodland and old ruins on your doorstep👍
Thanks for sharing !
We used to have a farm behind us to til the Kendricks moved away to another town and a smaller home. The 55+ apts. acquired the name, but it's not the same anymore. Tess liked to play with the hens, chipmunks, squirrels, and others animals that wandered into our yard. I often let her and Gypsy visit the couple before they moved. Lovely countryside you have there, Sean and Stacie! Love Echo, Kate, and Storm!
Nothing is more fun than exploring ruins and ship wrecks. Stormie was having a great time.
Quite an impressive ruin which must have been quite an important building when it was constructed. Great to see Storm having fun.
When I was young there was a section of wild, untamed land. Reminds me so much of that time in my life. Now in US much land has been built on. Nice to see you have true countryside
Aw Storm - out for an exploratory walk with dad. Best day. I think she probably travelled about 10x the distance you did. She had no trouble getting through the undergrowth
Storm really had a good time on that outing.
What a fun adventure. Thanks you for bringing back memories of the woods and fields in my youth. I’m 70 so I’m speaking ages 7-35. The town I lived in grew due to a WWII army base. Long abandoned, it was great fun to explore those ruins.
Sounds awesome
That was wonderful! I love lichen and moss and have never seen lichen growing on tree branches quite like that. Thank you for showing this. Storm was, once again, amazing.
Years ago my sister and her husband had a farm and I loved to go walking in the woods behind their property. I always took their two dogs with me, they were both rough coated collies, and when I was done with my walk I would just tell them to go home and they would safely lead me back home.
What fun..Storm makes it look easy!❤❤😊thanks!
What a great adventure! And Storm certainly loved mucking through the site! So good to see the old stonework!
Thanks Sean- love your videos ❣️ Stay safe and look forward to more of life on the farm🥰
Thank you! Will do!
This was a great adventure by a cool guy who lives on a traditionally picturesque farm with several extremely intelligent and energetic Border Collies, who, along with Australian Shepherds, are the smartest dogs in the world.
This is great! 👍
Just brilliant Sean love love that video ! All that moss & Lichen ( you’d make reindeer very happy there 😂) shows what a healthy and vibrant habitat is around there . Storm was certainly in her element. Loved the certainty with which Storm approached the gate - total confidence you’d lift her up . Great work Sean & Storm thanks so much for sharing 🙏👏🥰
How much fun was that!!!!!!!! I love exploring in nature. Wonderful.
Great walk. Interesting things to see and storm.
I used to hike all over and can't anymore, so you might imagine how I enjoyed yours. I would have liked to sit on a cozy rock for a while to take it all in...
I loved this "explore" as Christopher Robin would say! The ruins are fascinating! Storm is a great scout!
Moss and lichen is a great indication of clean air.
Storm really enjoyed the trip to the ruins. A little glimpse of history on the farm.
Storm seemed to have a good sniff around which is a wonderland for dogs.
Great fun! Thank you, Sean. And Storm!!
A really fascinating look, such beautiful mosses
I found that so interesting too, Storm loved it and got dad all to himself. Great
Reminds me of walking through the woods with my late BC (who looked identical to Storm). She loved exploring too.
Sorry for your loss
@seanthesheepman5845 thanks....just lost her Aug '23, but she lived a long life (15 1/2). She looked just like Storm and used to run like Echo....loving every second of it.
Look how excited storm got to be exploring a new location! She is big strong happy girl.
It looked like both of you enjoyed your romp. Thanks for sharing!
Always enjoy your posts. Lovely, happy and smart dogs
Thank you very much!
Thank you. I love seeing the Scottish countryside. Land of my ancestors
What an interesting tour, loved watching Storm lead the way.
That was neat. Here in the US, buildings just aren't that old. Even if they are in ruin. I love seeing your country. Thank you. Love and best wishes from NC, USA
Thank you too
Thank you for the well guided adventure. Fun to imagine how things used to be. Gorgeous creek, doggo & kind guide 😍
Have you got a bit of Celtic Forest there? There's now a big emphasis on how valuable these bits of the ancient temperate rain forest are. There seems to be a lot of mosses and lichens growing on the trees.
A “kerk” is how we call a church in The Netherlands 😅😊.. lovely to find out.
We would spell it Kirk very similar
🙂 In Scotland, I think it's with an I, but surely there's a reason for the similarity....in Ireland, I think it's "Kill"
What a wonderful little hike to see some history. Thanks for this!
You and Storm seemed to have had a fine time. Thanks for taking us along.
Oh I loved seeing the old ruin. You and Storm work so well together - she's a sweety! Cute how you got her up and over the wood fence as she trusts her dad so much. Thanks for sharing this with us.
I am so intrigued by the mystery of ruins---I did a summer course in Oxford about the history of English villages & our tutor hauled us off once a week to ruins & archeological digs. Such fun, also enjoyed the pub crawl! You were having trouble getting trough the dense brush but Storm was having no difficulty at all, looked like having a wonderful time Thanks for sharing, as always!
Some of my favourite plants are lichens and mosses. I have a dedicated moss garden here in Tasmania. ❤🇦🇺
Thanks for sharing this. I loved it! Storm is a good pup!
Interesting:thank you.
All bordercollisar är best, God bless the lovely dogs and damily
The stones of that ruin looked properly dressed. Beautiful.
Wow...those ruins are so mysterious. It makes one think back to what the people working in the original building were like. I stopped the video at 10:38, for a snapshot of Storm framed by the bright green lichen, huge gray boulders and twigs. She is adorable, with that calm expression and just a hint of her pink tongue peeping out! That is a picture worth framing!! Thank you for taking us on this interesting expedition, Sean! :-)
