I will forever argue that this is one of the greatest interpretations of this piece. Not only is it very emotional, but his technique is incredibly controlled as are the dynamics. In addition, it is not too fast nor too slow; just right in my opinion.

Hear me out. As a pianist who has played this piece, I don't think people actually realize how hard it is to achieve and MAINTAIN the tone Seong made from 4:01 onwards.
To put into perspective Seong's technical level, some pianists will 'cheat' this section by simply pushing down the sostenuto pedal to make it soft but Seong is relying on raw technique to play soft which is just crazy. The amount of practice just to get that level is unfathomable.
Second, read the score for the right hand for doppio mvt. and the level of technique you need to play two notes with your thumb softly or tapping the keys with your index finger softly is so ridiculously challenging. (Example: Seong's soft playing at 4:37 is technically hard to play at a fast speed; many other pianists over accent this part while Seong only brings out the melody line and keeps everything else soft ).
Third, his total control over sound harmonises the piece so well that its impossible to find any unnecessary accents at all. Listen to others and there are those moments where you might say "eh, slightly too much there" or "a tad too soft here". Seong's is PERFECTLY balanced - you can relax and simply enjoy the music.

Whenever I hear Cho play Chopin, something happens inside of me; something is set to infinity, my inner gaze glazes over, my attention becomes scattered, or so it seems when that attention is turned to the eternal, fixed to something pertaining to final causes. My inner self departs from nature, and also wants nothing to do with logic or practical concerns, but wants to deal exclusively with matters of a metaphysical nature.
Sometimes it is as if I wake up, with the music still playing, and then a tangent appears on the horizon of my consciousness; the earthly touches the unearthly and being together becomes something incomprehensible.
I have never before heard someone play Chopin with such strong influence on my inner reality.

Amazing interpretation that moved me to tears in the end. Cho never forgot to play this nocturne in a calm and controlled manner even when its emotion was growing somber. I really like the way in which he presented the tragic beauty of this piece. I'm sure this kind of interpretation would not have been possible without Cho's impeccable technique and deep artistry.
