I feel like a lot of the 2021 contestants tried to “copy” the brilliance of what this polonaise was. Unfortunately nobody can replicate the magnificence of this sound

폴로네즈에 큰 매력을 못 느꼈는데 조성진의 연주를 듣고 폴로네즈가 이렇게 아름다울 수도 있구나 하고 느꼈다. 왜 그가 폴로네즈상을 받았는지 알게 해주는 연주ㅠㅠ
이전에는 경쾌하고빠르고 강약리듬감 있는 명곡중 하나 였을 뿐인데,
조팽의 연주를접한 후로는, 곡에서 다양한 색이 보입니다. 우아하고 세련되기도하고 강렬하기도 예리하기도하고 여유도있고 박진감도 있고 서정적이기도하고 소박하지만 화려하고 ...난이도만큼이나 곡의 색이 단순하지 않네요 크
곡 해석과 표현에 감동할수밖에 없오.ㅜ

폴란드 국영 항공사 폴란드항공 비행기 탑승 하니까 웰컴뮤직으로 조성진 폴로네이즈 쇼팽 콩쿠르 실황 버전 지금이거 틀어줬었음. 비행기 좌석 모니터 음악 라이브러리 에서도 ''조성진의 세계 최고 수준의 쇼팽 해석''이라고 적어놓고 조성진 쇼팽 곡들 여러개 모아놓은거 있었음
유튜브에 박제되면 한번쯤은 다음대회때 영상이랑 비교되면서 여러가지 말이 나오기마련인데
조성진 영상은 진짜 대회임에도 불구하고 완벽을 넘어서 예술을 보여준 곡들이라
앞으로 계속 열릴 대회때마다 비교되기에 참가자들이 매우 큰 심적부담을 준다고 생각됨.
우승자의 품격을 보여준 곡.. 리스펙

This was the most complete interpretation of the heroic polonaise I've ever heard. Seong jin Cho must be a genius. It was a perfect performance from start to finish. His victory was decided from here.
I'll never forget my first experience with this piece. I was 12 and had been expressing interest in classical music for some time so my father bought me a chopin CD. I listened to the whole thing through but as soon as it was over I listened to this piece for days on end completely engrossed. I can almost smell what I was smelling in those moments at this moment. It's an indescribable feeling when something grasps you so hard all time is lost and the memory is a picture perfect blur.
He doesn't look nervous at all. He is playing in his own dream. Now this performance has become the Bible of Polonaise! Never watched any Polonaise better than this. Amazing👍👍👍

This is the BEST interpretation of this Polonaise I have ever heard. This is perfect and exceptional. He plays with such a delicate and polish heart, it is absolutely stunning. I imagine Chopin himself playing the polonaise like this as well. Thank you Cho, you are now one of my favourite pianists of all time. You may even be the reincarnation of Chopin himself 😉

I prefer Martha Argerich 1965 recording of the same piece. Music is a matter of personal taste. I am not a musician so I don't worry about technical errors of the pianist. Cho (2015 winner) is one of the best..along with Hamelin.

얼마나 좋나 하면 조성진의 폴로네이즈를 들으때마다 험난한 역사속에서도 힘차게 살아온 폴란드인의 기상이 느껴짐
폴란드 역사 개뿔도 모르는데 그냥 막 내가 폴란드 독립운동가라도 된 것 같이 눈물이 남.
딱 15년도에 성진형 폴로네이즈 듣고.. 쇼팽에 관심생겨서 폴란드 쇼팽박물관을 첫 해외여행으로 갔습니다. 낮가림도 엄청심했는데 무언가 홀린듯이 용기가 생겨서 혼자 배낭을 가지고 다녀왔습니다.(여행하면서 쇼팽곡 엄청들었음ㅋ) 진짜 인상 깊었던 여행이었습니다. 덕분에 지금까지 약16개국을 혼자 여행했었네요. 폴란드 여행 이후 바로 피아노를 시작했습니다. 평일에는 6시간 주말에는 12시간씩 연습하면서 처음에는 녹턴을 시작으로 에튀드, 왈츠 그리고 3년만에 폴로네이즈 영웅 완주했었습니다. 폴로네이즈 연주 하나가 제 인생을 바꿨네요.

Many other pianists take the heroic polonaise like the story of a superhero in a hollywood movie, but I can hear all the trials and tribulations of a real heroic story in Cho's interpretation. It's like he captures all the blood sweat and tears of real heroes that have to wade through grime to accomplish their goals.

보통 루바토를 과하게 넣으면 툭툭 끊기는데 이 연주는 루바토를 많이 사용하면서도 신들린듯이 오히려 그것을 기가막히게 흐름을 타는데 알차게 써먹는것이 감탄이 나온다.
He just sings Chopin and then persuades us his interpretation so naturally. He'll be a magnificent pianist in our generation. Now I must say, BRAVO!

Not true! Cho was only 3th prize in the weak Rubinstein competition! There are 100 better pianists than Cho like Rubinstein Sviatoslav Richter Grigory Sokolov Maurizio Pollini Radu Lupu Vladimir Ashkenazy and so on!!

I love everything by HOROWITZ but this interpretation by CHO was the BEST I have ever heard of this POLONAISE because he plays it with so many accents and subtle changes of tempo, which appear in the music but which few pianists seem to respect....and I have listened to dozens and dozens of the " greatest ".
I agree with the comment made by a poster below who said that it is a performance that you can imagine is the way the composer himself would have played it.
Too many pianists play it in one constant and uniform tempo and degree os attack and try to impress with their speed and virtuosity to the detriment of the musicality...THIS GUY EXCELS AT BOTH and I especially like that he does not play it so fast as to make it un-melodious and he also does not slur any notes...each note of every chord is incredibly clear

+Leon Maliniak did you listen to his gala Polonaise? Major goosebumps I got, and that's quite unusual for me since I don't usually get those from classical music.
I did listen to a few more of his performances and I was very impressed. Being a big fan of HOROWITZ it is rare for me to ever make even a close comparison by any other pianist...even some of the other " GREATS "...but this guy is special
+Leon Maliniak Cho does play this piece very nicely but what I found a bit funny actually is that I like his performance from the 2009 hamamatsu even more than this one. Nevertheless this performance was also superb.
As a former professional musician playing all the keyboards, including accordion and who paid his way through University and LAW school by playing at weddings but who never studied classical music until I was 55 years old, I am AMAZED at how many of these incredible pianists are out there.
CONGRATULATIONS to all these piano experts. Reaching this level performance and technical virtuosity is a great accomplishment.
In this context it is still incredible to me that I have still not heard anyone better then HOROWITZ...
lygazvbx interesting, because although my mad love for Cho is still strong, I thought his Pol in Hamamatsu was good but felt that it needed improvement. And he progressed and delivered This Polonaise at the Competition. Then I heard the Gala Pol and got those major goosebumps. He seemed to be possessed. I try not to listen to it at night when I need to go to bed, only during the day, because I can't fall asleep due to excitement. LOL

i think maybe bruce has the same artistry, but cho's consistency combined with artistry is simply unmatched, in 2021, we select winners with the caveat of overlooking mistakes, with cho no such caveat was needed

개인적으로 폴로네이즈에서 연주자들의 각자 개성이 제일 잘 드러난다고 생각해서 보는 재미가 있음 그 중에서도 조성진 연주가 가장 적당히 텐션있게 쫄깃하게 연주하는 느낌..

He always talks about respecting the composer's score and studying them in detail. His convincing interpretation is the result of studying the score closely and thoughtfully. He inspires me so much in my own playing.

진짜 미친듯이 잘하는거였구나... 와......
나윤희 작가님의 손 안의 안단테 65화를 보고 난 후 너무 여운이 남아서 요즘 쇼팽 폴로네이즈를 찾아 듣고있는데 조성진의 폴로네이즈는 그중에서도 진짜 너무 좋네요... 경쾌하면서도 애상적인... 이런 벅찬 느낌이 좋아요
Technical difficulties don't exist for this pianist! Everything is there, nothing glossed-over, the clarity of his playing is to be marvelled at. At last a pianist who probably plays like Chopin must have played. A joy to listen to, and exactly the same must be said of his performance of the 2nd.Scherzo. More, lots more please!
2023.07.05 앵콜 듣고 여운남아서 들으러 옴.... 쇼콩때 연주는 정말 아름답고 웅장하다 이보다 더 완벽할 수 있을까 했는데 어제 들은 영폴은 더욱 박력있어지고 격정적이고 당당해졌음.... 갓벽을 넘어 천상계 음색에 진짜 눈물 한바가지 흘리는 중
오늘 앵콜곡으로 해줬는데... 슈만 피협 엄청 감동받았는데도 폴로네이즈 영웅 시작하자마자 바로 마음 뺐겨버린 1인입니다. 피아노 하나로 치는 건데 왜 오케의 느낌이 나는거죠? 너무 좋아요ㅠㅠㅠ
더 놀라운 건 조성진의 예원학교 후배가 한 말인데 '성진이형 학교다닐 때 콩쿨때보다 폴로네이즈 훨씬 더 잘쳤어요' 라고 했답니다.
저거보다 잘 칠 수 있나…
최대한 콩쿨스탈로 바꿨겠지요. 내수용이 있고 수출용이 있으니
