  • I spent over €150's of my own money and bought lootcrates, DLC, mounts and emotes to answer the ultimate question! Are any of ESO's many microtransactions even worth it? You'll never guess the answer! Go ahead, guess.

    The biggest problem I have with the crown store is how predatory it is to new players. People already commented how easy it is to get a vampire or werewolf bite for free in game if you just know where or think to ask. And there are plenty of things overpriced for how easy they are to get for free. I tell most people that are interested to avoid buying crowns and if they enjoy the game to just sub for all the DLC content and the craft bag since they give you $15 worth of crowns with each monthly sub. Then you can blow your crowns on whatever or save it up for something actually useful like a banker or merchant or DLC areas you want to have always available.
    I've played subscription based games before and I enjoy ESO enough to treat it like one cuz I find it nearly unplayable otherwise. I'm with you on removing key features to make premium being some bullshit.

    • @KartalinESO
      @KartalinESO Před rokem +22

      Underrated comment. Honestly there's so much you can find in the game for no additional real money/crowns. Buying the first pack upgrade (let alone any, though the price does scale up) is just painful to watch because it's like 800 gold from the npc pack merchant. 800 gold is a pittance in this game, even if you're relatively new. The big January login reward (like 20 days of logging in daily) was 100,000 gold. Players are generally helpful in zone chat if they don't think you're trolling, minus the occasional number of people that will troll you. But 99.99% of players will tell you how to avoid the crown store if there is a way around it, because we all know it's terrible.
      For context I've played and subscribed since the 2014 launch.

    • @immatoll4375
      @immatoll4375 Před rokem +8

      I do not really understand why anyone ever should buy crowns before looking into the game (or store). It takes 10 minutes to realize that the store is mostly optional and more like a "reward system" for the ESO+ subscription model. ESO is a subscription based game with a big extended "trial". But you can theoretically play the trial even endlessly because of the more horizontal focussed progression + champion/paragon system. And if you want to play the game only for the base game, dungeons, veteran base dungeons / raids and all the story from the 3 alliances... damn this all will take 300-1000 hours alone if you are a real TES player and enjoy the dialogues etc.

    Few notes: the bag upgrades can be gotten with ingame gold, and the crown crate consumables are outclassed by crafted consumables. Most of the houses that are always in the crown store can be bought with gold. And for the housing, you can place your mounts and pets like furnishings, and even set them on paths to walk around your house. And you can make a dock with furnishings yourself down in the ocean. The vampirism and lycanthropy both can be given for free by other players. There no P2W parts to the crown store, it's either pay for convenience or cosmetic.

    The only reason I buy any crown crates is for the emotes, it may be because I use them for various vids but other than that I steer clear of them. I will say you're right the crafting bag should be included in the game to make it less of a hassle to play.
    A lot of the base houses and stuff that can be bought in the crown store can be gotten or be done in the game.
    The game can be a lot of fun with the various stories in the zones that's what I like getting into. Fun video! 😄

    GW2 has pretty non-predatory monetization, no sub, no pay to win, easy to reach max gear that doesn't depreciate every time a patch comes out and raises the ceiling.
    Also the camel has a spit command and is therefore the best mount in ESO and a worthwhile buy.

    The reason why I stopped playing eso, I mean it was fun in the beginning, but the fact that you need to buy more inventory because the lack of space... I earned a lot of gold to buy space but the prices went high rock every time it took too long to grind just for a little inventory space, then the game was boring for me and all those ingame purchases just made me quit this game entirely

    Just like FO76, have to pay to have scrapbox to store unlimited craft components. Yes, playing without it is possible, but it's a chore, especially late game when you have to craft ammo & other things

    One of the Zenimax guys who works on the team that does the art designs for ESO and namely the lootboxes came to our school during a career day thing. I of course realised he was on zenimax and not Bethesda but i still made sure to be a annoying little shit and asked him at least 3 times when TES6 is coming out. He just looked at me with the despair of someone who wanted to design art for games as a dream, but got assigned to loot boxes.

    My theory is that 2 companies made this game. The first one made a really good game and sent it to zenimax, then the big Z got a 2nd team to absolutely fuck it up.

    Microtransactions should be shamed and not normalized, the amount of content and often useless content that's created just to squeeze a little money out of dedicated fans is genuinely disgusting and scummy.

    I love ESO and 76. I was paying for subscriptions back a while ago but without the extra storage space it takes so long to get anything done because after every point in a quest you have to go back and craft/sell/upgrade stuff just so you can continue. It tries to force you to pay money to get anything done. Out of all modern MMO's that are popular FFXIV is the most cost friendly from what Ive seen. I just love the lore of ESO and its a beautiful game, just wish they would focus more on cosmetics for cash.

    I’ve played every elder scrolls game and tried ESO for a number of hours. Maybe I’m just cynical but I could never shake the feeling that every single aspect of the game was to tease you with enough content to keep you playing for as long as possible and annoy you enough to spend money. I never got that feeling of exploration like the actual games

      For real, it doesn't even feel like elder scrolls, it feels like mobile game levels of shading, lore dumps, mob AI. I have a friend and we used to play the Neverwinter MMO, we played through ESO together for about 2 months and it was just sooo bland, we had more fun on the community made quests in Neverwinter than we did in ESO, didn't have to spend money on Neverwinter to have fun🤷‍♂️

I think people who don’t like aren’t true elder scrolls fans becuase it’s so rich with lore it’s amazing. People act like zos has a gun to their head making them pay for in game items lol it’s all optional you don’t need to buy any of those things its extra
