That silky saw is nice, if you got some extra room in your pack the katanaboy is a nice option, there was an experimental version for taking in a van or a truck
A lot of guys don’t like the pocket chainsaw because it’s more than a chore to cut anything but a standing tree. Go with the folding saw so you can cut wood horizontally on a stump or however you do it.
Pocket chainsaw made into a saw buck works awesome and gives you leverage also. I agree, the wire saw sucks and the folding saw is always good if you have a vehicle of some kind, or a sled in the winter.

I've been using the Gerber folding Wyoming saw and found if I'm going to do one cut I'd rather use the Wyoming saw over a chainsaw just because it's less hassle than starting the chainsaw.
I prefer the folding saw, because to cut a log that isn’t rooted into the ground, you’ll have to cut with the chain coming up towards you. And that has tater obvious problems
What type of pocket chainsaw is it, the ones that actually use chainsaw blade which will bind up or is it an actual saw that is made into a chain concept
He did in a prior video showing just the wire saw and then the hand chainsaw and everybody complained about it claiming that he cut notches into the tree already to push the agenda on the hand chainsaw.
Check out the comments I had on the saw vs dead tree video. Everyone said it wasn’t a fair test…. Now this video has all the comments telling me I shouldn’t have cut a live tree. I can’t win. Oh well.
I love the people complaining about the live tree... he's surrounded by trees and on top of that mother nature destroys more trees in 1 storm than this guy will in his lifetime.
Not only that, cutting down a tree leaves room for more trees to grow. Mother nature is brutal and the entire forest fights each other for light constantly.
Now do it on the ground, bent over, in the rain, with a seasoned log, because thats what 99% of what you would really be cutting in most situations: Utility, Casual, and Survival.
There’s another video with him using it how you’re saying and it’s worse than this, it kept getting stuck and it was on a thinner branch. And while he’s not the strongest person in the world I don’t think you believe he’s weak, right? The wire is just trash. If you really can’t carry the proper tool then you get the chain, doesn’t take up more more space and the weight should be mostly irrelevant.
The thing is that would you have something compact and usable or something big and heavy but very quick? Depends on what you are doing, also why didn’t you find a dead tree
Because dead trees cut differently also, the wire saw may be compact but there is no survival situation where spending 15 minutes cutting 1 small tree is a viable use of time
@@calculatedsurvival 😂😂 that’s what life throws us. Happens a ton and often and with different things. I don’t know why a dead tree would make it a different test of it was the same wood, cut one down than from the ground cut both. The folding saw reminds me of the starting weapon from bloodborne

Cheap pruning saws are awesome for bushcraft kits
The classic corona saw
Chain saws bind more when cutting a standing tree down. It wasn't a fair comparison.
I was thinking something similar
I want the cutter definitely 😁
It's true. I had tried it myself. It's a piece of crappy saw for cutting woods.
Ok so the saw and the chain are both fast and effective...but wich one used the least amount of effort?
The saw for sure
I would think so
The folding saw uses far less energy.

Try changing your angle of cutting with the chain, surely it wil go faster

Funny that he used that beat as he done the dance with the first saw
Could carry a wire saw for snares
Wire saw is absolutely the worst of those options, but you ruined your test by making it the only one that you used completely wrong.
If you use the wire saw too fast, you'll snap the wire since it gets too hot and is then useless.
What type of pocket chainsaw is it, the ones that actually use chainsaw blade which will bind up or is it an actual saw that is made into a chain concept
I was wondering if you rested between sets. I've done the chain and it's a workout.
I only rested while operating the wire saw. But I cut all that out for the video
