- This is my Barco Graphics 801 CRT projector. In the first part of the video, the input is a standard interlaced video signal (576i). When I switch to the other channel, the projector is driven by my MacBook. The signal is 1920 x 1080 @ 60Hz (1080 progressive).
In the 576i signal, the scan-lines are visible!!! If my camera was better, you could see it in the video. The projector is from 1994 but it still delivers an amazing image! The Barco has a very short runtime, only 827 hours. - Věda a technologie
I'm here in 2024😊
@willemsruben1 No, its MUCH better with a CRT of this type to use interlaced at these higher resolutions, it is alot easier on the projector, and the image will be SHARPER.
By softer, i mean it is less sharp, abit blury.
As for the MacBook, are you sure it has no option for changing the resolutions? If not, throw it away and get a REAL computer.... Or at least a bluray player that will output 1080i at 60Hz...
How much improvement is there on the 808s?
@redSKORPION50 Well, since my projector is connected to my MacBook, there are no setting for the connected displays. Therefor, the only option that I have is progressive scan. Isn't progressive always better than interlaced scan? What do you mean with "a softer picture"?
Barco Graphics 801 or 801s or Data 801s you are better off running 720 lines progressive
it does not have enough video bandwidth to run 1080 progressive.
@2BunnyReturns Mosts of his projectors are broken so you need to pay him to fix one. I will let you know but I don't know if sending one of those things to the VS can be done... This Barco in the video weights more then a 100lb!
How does it look on 1080i though?? Ive got an NEC 9PG, i reckon it looks better on 1080i, its abit sharper. That is my opinion though too, some people prefer it abit softer ;)
@redSKORPION50 There is a new video on my channel of my Barco. You're absolutely right! 1080i is much better! ;)
I have one of these projectors, they are a pretty good home theater projector (if you stick to 720p or 1080i). Sadly I don't have a room large enough to set it up since I moved, you need a fairly big room to get the throw distance to be able to really use it to its best.
Look into the "HDFury" and you can even hook up modern HDMI devices to this ;-)
9 years ago? wow
@@crazywarp36 yes, you replied 9 years later?
Does the projector break and die after 827 hours?
@@V530-15ICR😂no, mine had a mere 4500 hours when I stopped using it, still worked fine though, just moved and didn’t have the room. Many go tens of thousands of hours.
@willemsruben1 No problem ;) Glad i could help!!
@redSKORPION50 Thanx for the tips! I didn't know that interlaced gives a better picture...
The MacBook is fine... until you want to do some advanced stuff... The resolutions and frequency are adjustable but there is no way to set it on interlaced video... I know, I know, it is a shame... But it works for me! :P
Also my Barco needs negative sync-signals... And since my MacBook gives positive sync-signal I had to build a circuit to invert those signals.
@willemsruben1 No problem. Interlaced is not better if you have a Barco Cine 9, or a Sony G90, but on your projector, certainly better :)
you still alive
I am, just...
@erivar62 Correct! I don't do 1080p anymore, 1080i and 720p gives me a very nice picture. There is a new video on my channel where I do 1080i ;)
You should talk on your video telling everyone what your doing.
nice!! zit er goed uit!!! :D neem is foto's dan zie je beter de kwaliteit!!
@2BunnyReturns I got it from a guy who's collecting CRT projectors...
i like the projector except it is a pain to adjust it for it to match your wall not like now wear it contains lenses and is lighter to carry
cinema in the bathroom :D
ah belg zie ik
