I watched this video about a week ago, then I met your dad at Hall's Ranch yesterday. He casually brought your channel up, and I recognized it. Small world!!
How funny! I love when small world stories like that come back around 😊 Thanks for checking us out!
Great video! Looking forward to your next trip.
Thank you so much! We have some big and exciting plans for the summer, so be sure to hang with us!
Awesome video. Between the wind and the fact that there's no flat riding in Southern Utah will make you want to cry at times. Brutal.
“Just put yourself out there!” Best quote!
Thank you! There's only one way to do it!
how the heck do you have less than 200 subscribers¿ I would have guessed 200k based on your content and editing. Great things to come for you!
Thanks so much! That means more than you may think. Glad you enjoyed it, check out some of our other adventures and let us know what you think! We're excited to dial in our videography skills and hopefully make some pretty cool videos in the future!
I really enjoyed this. I’ve done a fair amount of bike packing on my road bike but never on the trail. Chase and Jordan have an engaging on camera presence and great attitude that kept me watching to the end. I was impressed by all the challenges you faced and overcame but more importantly how you kept a positive attitude going through it. The scenery is beautiful and the video shots pull you right in. I felt like I was on the bike with you. Well done. I’ll be watching more. Tom
Wow Tom, thank you so much for the kind words! It really means a lot to us. The funny thing is that those challenges made the story and the adventure even better! We are absolutely hooked on bike packing and can't wait to scout out some more adventures -- any recommendations?
- Jordyn
First two minutes had me hooked. So good!! Looking forward to more from you two.
Thanks so much Trent! Glad you enjoyed it, we're happy you're here to follow along :)
Bikerpelli for the win! 😁 Kudos on your attempt, it's a bear, especially the part that would have been ahead of you over Ensenada Bluffs. BRUTAL.
We'll be back to bag the whole route for sure! No way we can leave it unfinished. Thanks for watching!
Great video, you guys! I really felt it.
Thanks so much!
Awesome video and greetings from Saskatchewan! Chase, I howled when you lifted your bike!! Loaded bikes are ridiculously heavy! Now subscribed!
Thank you so much Lewis! Jordyn has family up in your area! We'll have to come up and visit soon. Maybe not during the winter...
Awesome video you two, I loved it.
Thank you so much!! Wait until you see what we have planned for the end of this year 👀
ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh i ride a hardtail and drool over full suspension.... when i'm retired, i'm gonna get one
Both are super fun! Hardtails definitely keep things interesting.
I was just going to ask where’s your water lol. Sounds like fun though. I’m glad you were both ok- next time perhaps do a little more research. Like perhaps bring a battery charger for your phones and turn one off so the other can have a full charge when one dies. Also maybe be sure to bring first aid kit - well because as you could see-definitely some spots where you could have been really hurt in the middle of nowhere. But heck yeah being out in the middle of no where on a bike so awesome! The sleeping bag being so small cracked me up. Been there done that and more like bringing a bag that was not rated for snow-yep squeezed into a mummy bag with my boyfriend 😆.
Thanks for the advice! We totally agree... only one way to learn right?! We have some big and exciting rides coming up that we're going to document, and we will definitely use those tips! And don't worry, we have sleeping bags that fit this time 😂
You guys are awesome! I cant believe you dont have a ton of subscribers because this is a great video
Thanks so much Eli! We are hoping to get there one day 😁
Great video for sure the two of you looks like you are have a ball on that trip.
We sure did! Anytime out on the trails is time well spent... We are already planning our next trip out there!
An epic documentary
An epic comment
This is so cool bikepacking vlog, enjoyed watching! 👍😊 I've been bikepacking here in Florida but it's getting hot now. I'm planning to head north.
Thanks for watching Thomas! 😁 I can only imagine how hot and humid those trails are getting! If you are headed up through Colorado at any point, let us know and we can point you in the direction of some of our favorite trails!
@@ChasingJo I'm actually heading to California from Chicago next month using Amtrak and stopping for a couple of days in Denver. Any recommendations nearby. I have my gravel bike with me. Would like to see some scenic views.
@Follow Thomas Ohhhh. That sounds like such a fun trip! We are living in-and grew up around-Boulder, so we are partial to that area when it comes to ride suggestions. Here are some links to .gpx files that are some of our favorites! (Each of these rides are starting from one of our favorite cafes in Boulder, Trident!)
Boulder Scenic Loop: connect.garmin.com/modern/course/63982153
Boulder Flats Loop: connect.garmin.com/modern/course/63982331
Switzerland Trail: connect.garmin.com/modern/course/63982408
Some more things you can look up:
Left Hand Canyon Road (Pavement, but a nice and popular canyon to ride up and down.)
Rocky Mountain Arsenal Gravel Loop (Never ridden there personally, but I've heard good things! Would be closer to Denver.)
Marshal Mesa Trail System (In Boulder-Singletrack trails! Easy enough for a Gravel Bike, technical enough to keep a gravel bike interesting!)
Hope this helps! Shoot us a message at chasingjo16@gmail.com if you want any more detail or other suggestions!

@@ChasingJo thank you so much for your recommendations, much appreciated 👍😊
how did I enjoy this short video more than some full length Hollywood films with budgets in the hundreds of millions?
Haha, sometimes simplicity is best! Thanks so much! 😊
CJ, do you have your route posted/available? Really enjoyed this! Thank you!
Hey Bill! You can check out our route on Strava. The one I linked below didn't include porcupine rim (for some reason that recorded separately) but you can see both of those routes on either one of our Stravas.

@@ChasingJo Thank you!
멋져요~
What action camera did you use and how did you have it set up to record while riding with both hands on the handlebars? A mouth mount?
We used a GoPro Hero 7 with a chest mount and occasionally just holding it!
100%
thanks for your video, we will follow your next cycling adventures if you made it again?
There will definitely be more cycling adventures to come! We're hoping to do Kokopelli again next summer but with a twist 😉 in the mean time, we'll be training on our local trails in boulder for some big adventures!
@@ChasingJo ohhh Great 🤩 we follow your Channel for tour next shares 🙂 have good rides 🚵♂️
What bivy are you guys using? Pros and cons of it?
Hey good question! We ended up grabbing the Outdoor Research Helium Bivy.
Pros: Well, one of our favorite parts about this bivy is that it comes with a lightweight pole that can be used to keep the bug net off of your face at night. It actually feels pretty roomy in there when using the pole. Of course, if you're counting ounces, you don't need to bring the pole, but we think it's worth it. The system packs down small and light. We're still trying to work out the kinks in our sleep system, but this bivy seems to be a staple of our kit already!
Cons: It's a bright orange color, which can be good or bad. It's good if you want to be seen, but maybe not as good if you're trying to do a bit of stealth camping on the side of the road or in places where you might not want to be as noticeable. Other than that, we haven't really noticed any cons. We don't have a very big sample size of bivys to compare it to, so we can't give you a pros and cons compared to other options. But, this seems to be a good option for us so far!
Thanks for tuning in! Feel free to reach out with other questions!
-Chase
I thought that it was a Helium but wasnt sure, I like that bivy too. I used it for one season bikepacking and hiking this past fall and winter. I did a review on it on my channel.
I am switching to a tent this year to try that out but Im always a sucker for a bivy and I like to see what others are using. Have you seen or tried the Alpkit Elen? You guys did a good job on the video and I enjoyed watching. Im looking forward to watching your next adventure.
We haven't tried that one! What tent are you planning on switching to?
Glad you enjoyed! We'll be releasing mini adventures regularly!
@@ChasingJo I switched to the Tarptent Protrail LI. Its a nice single person tent. For the two of you I would look at the Motrail. It will weigh a little more than the two bivys but will give you more living space. I did a review of the Protrail on my channel if you want to see it. Tarptent makes and sells poles so you dont have to use trekking poles to set them up.
@@arkansasoutdoorschannel1867 We'll have to check the Motrail out! The bivys are only nice for so many uses. Sometimes, the extra living space is necessary.
I wanna be you guys when I grow up
Why be us when you can be you! ❤️ come out for a ride or hike in Boulder!
How did ya all like the Whole Enchilada? It wasnt all down hill by any means was it.
In my opinion, the Whole Enchilada was the best part! Although it wasn't included in the video, it was a great way to cap off that ride. It's a solid downhill with a few punchy climbs, but overall a great ride.
👊, Jo
Should called it first trial trail...
I've been trying to see what brand of bikes you are riding. Were those Walmart/Target specials, or better brands? There were streches where you were going a lot faster in the rocks than I would have. when I start a ride, like on Thanks Giving day I rode 58.6 miles. The sun went down and the tempratures dropped 12--15 degrees. Or would have rode and extra 4--5 miles if I hadn't started getting so cold. I start my rides with drinking at least a quart of water and 5--6 cups of coffey. In future get kick stands --it's worth the extra 6--750 grams.
REBECCA RUSCH DID THIS IN 13 ½ HOURS. 😮😮😮
