- Erskine Hawkins demonstrates how fast and intuitive it is to perform with the Korg Grandstage. Of special note it its Split control panel, which offers easy access to advanced splitting and layering functions. Complete with powerful sound engines from the Kronos series, plus some new sound engines of its own, the Korg Grandstage is a performer's instrument through and through - it even comes with a rugged A-frame stand.

It's nice to hear a demo person that can play. Well done.
love listening to Eskine playing, what a talent! Sweetwater is very fortunate to have him on board.
I like the player’s style. Enjoyable to watch.
amazing playing
Amazing playing wow!
Mr. Hawkins you are amazing. You make me want to jump up and down on my key board and quit. But I won’t. Sweetwater got a deal when they found you. Best wishes.
This guy's playing is in a class of it's own.
Awesome presentation doc👍👌! Now you gotta post a clip of a 'SIMPLIFIED' breakdown of ALL those chords & runs you played man! Dude you practically sold that Korg Grandstage bru!
Fantastic Player and synth! 😎👍🏻
damn, dude can play. Nicely done. Love to hear y
Great to hear "A Night in Tunisia", and Erskine Hawkins is a natural as a presenter (maybe too good of a player for the job, but excellent at it). But yeah, Grandstage, was wondering when Korg would add a stage piano to their lineup.
I already like Erskine an his demos. Although in this case, it'd been nice if he had shouted out the different names as he changed to different instruments. There's still a redeeming chance though with this video, if one of the video editors were to the different instrument stops as he plays through them. The keyboard sounds amazing! I wanna compare it to my 88 key Kronos now!.
This is refreshing
Is it Dyno piano from 01w at 9.20? A bit similar to me wow I like it
Can someone please demonstrate the sound of the new update for the korg grand stage 2.0 it seems like nobody wants to demonstrate it
I don't know why but I just thought of Jim Costa when you played the variations of the wurlitzer.
I love that organ settings on this keyboard y'all
Drummer & Organist Bobby that's what I'm thinkin bro the Roland rd 2000 is a beast. But the organs don't sound like that. lol There are things I don't like about this board looks mainly but sound wise. I think it holds its own. I'd just turn that Korg light off lol.
John Smith I'm just saying I like the organ setting
I know others have said it but the stand is sick. I see no movement (well almost) of the keyboard as he plays, finally a manufacturer understands.
Hey bro, well played. How is the key action here compared to a SV1,CP4 or RD-800?
Whats the name of the song he's in the 4.45 minute?
Great job Erskine... Does not support aftertouch? hmmmm :(
It'd be interesting to know if it's still based on a PC Motherboard, like the Kronos, or if they've moved over to an ARM CPU....
Is it possible to adjust the attack and release time for the sounds, specially for the pad sounds ?
Hi, Wolfgang! Thanks for your interest. The Grandstage does not have ADSR controls, sorry. I'd be glad to help you find an instrument that will have everything you need - feel free to contact me directly!

Grandstage vs SV2?
I played both and have the grandstage. Grandstage slightly better acoustic piano sound. Sv2 livelier electric pianos due to using a real tube preamp for a nicer grunge and overdrive.
whoops. Love to year you do a gig.
Whats after touch?
Can't get there is no aftertouch. Are there drawbars for the organ? Disappointment are the strings. They sound pretty synthetic and somehow my 20 year old K 2500 does them better still. How is the pricing? Is it much cheaper than a full Kronos?
Ich stimme zu. Aber es ist billger. In the US, it's running around $2500, more than a thousand less than the Kronos 88 and about two thousand less than a Nord Stage 3.
I've heard aftertouch defined as two different things - either meaning the feel of a key press, or an effect on some keyboards where you get a sound change when holding down a note. Considering he said it doesn't 'support' aftertouch, I'd guess he is talking about the latter, which makes sense since this seems to be competing with things like the mp7. I'm hoping the action is realistic, I'd be keen to demo one of these to find out. Or hope someone on CZcams knows ;)
Aftertouch is definetely one specific but common thing and that is, when you play a key and press it further down it sends controller information causing some modulation like filter, pitch, loudness or something else. For a controller keyboard on the higher level I consider this as a necessity, not an option.
Erskine is a badass !
Great playing and description. Find it funny that the pitch and mod wheels are so tiny for such a big board though!
I designed this keyboard. The mod and pitch wheels are FINE. Are your hands large? Mine are 6 inches across
Can't argue with the maestro.
Maybe you have some tips? Do you like the light up KORG decal?
Everyone talks about the dang KORG lightup logo as if it was a selling point.
XLR outputs are great, and thank the maker it has 5-pin midi. And a new Spring Reverb? ♪
How does one control the split point?
have some fun mate!
E Piano is badass
Wav congratulatooooo👍
Are you guys not selling anymore grandstage??
Can you do split and layer at the same time?
Hey, Piotr! Josh here at Sweetwater… Thanks for the inquiry! Great question. You can only have one of these running at a time because the keyboard will only transmit and receive one channel at a time. If you have more questions, please let me know!

What's the difference between this and the SV-2?? Cheers
Hello!
The GrandStage and SV2 are quite similar, and in sound quality and feel of the keybed, they are neck and neck. They also weigh about the same at 44lbs each.
The intention of the SV2 (the successor to the very popular SV1) was always to come up with a simple keyboard for live playing. There are 72 factory preset sounds contained within, every parameter is editable from the front panel, and there is no menu structure to tweak. Everything is simple and immediate.
The GrandStage shares the direct interface of the SV2 (also with no screen or menu diving), but it is a deeper and more flexible instrument for a few hundred extra dollars - it has 500 available factory sounds. It is meant for a musician who wants a bit more variety, perhaps someone who isn't exclusively playing live, but also wants to do some recording, or experiment a bit with non traditional keyboard sounds.

@@sweetwater thanks for the complete answer. Much appreciated! Cheers
When he speaks. Why do i feel like i'm walking through a 23 century city with flying cars and he's the voice of the robot tour guide.
Dude. Bro. Way to make a guy feel less like a keyboard player, more a keyboard mover. lol INCREDIBLE. #musicalitygoals
Nice demo of the pipe organ sound. Oh wait, he left that out.
No aftertouch?? Wow. Not aware of too many other $2k+ keyboards without aftertouch. Of course a few years ago, I wouldn't have cared...I never used it. Nowadays though I almost always program some mod with the aftertouch. And it's interesting that he throws that fact out there so early in the vid.
That being said (and being familiar with the Kronos), this is a pretty decent idea for capability and sound quality, and for the price it should easily compete with the "similarly-named-minus-the-'grand'-part" Nord line. And though it appears a little less programmable, it will save you almost a couple grand on the price of that similarly competing Nord Stage. Hopefully the built quality can compete as well.
The next Phil Clendennin
the look of that piano reminds me of the Ensoniq ES Q-1
Issie wizzie The ESQ-1 had (poly) Aftertouch though...
sound mono?
Yes, our mistake in post. Our apologies!
Top points for the player, bottom points for the audio production. What the hell? Do you wan't to sell this?
No wall wart :)
The keybed without aftertouch is a much more accurate piano model. I hate AT on anything but synths
Erskine
Amazing sound! who cares what it looks like!
Stupid comments!
Stick with basic useable sounds?
Not a bad product, but not at this price point unfortunately. Hardly comparable to the Roland RD-2000 which is what this is competing with at the price point.
Fully agree the keyboard and interface on the RD-2000 looks better equipped (and better built), but I think the Kronos sound engines are notch over the SuperNatural equivalents (which aren't bad at all...I have a FA-06). Well, more competition is usually not a bad thing. Keeps the prices down.
RD 2000 sucks. Of course it's subjective though.
you need a magnifying glass to see the view led, BAD
Don't judge this keyboard sound by this demo. No keyboard demo should be done in 'MONO". STEREO ONLY ERSKINE. It's the reason there is an L and R on the back. Your sounds are much lower quality in mono. Your are not getting all the sample unless it is done in stereo. Check out other demos to hear what this keyboard really sounds like. There is as much difference in as AM radio and High Definition FM.
But he is going out in Stereo??? This keyboard offers both XLR and 1/4" outputs. You can see in the video he has [2] 1/4" cables connected. One to the L and the other to the R. It talks about this on page 6 of the owner's manual if you want to learn more.
No aftertouch is a killer. I remember back in the mid 90's when my piano teacher got a Prophecy and I thought Korg was like some alien company sent from the future to help humanity create amazing sounds. It's sad to see them getting so blatantly out performed by Roland and Yamaha :(
Where are woodwinds this is redundant you already have strings ?????
Unfortunately it looks cheap. Nothing about the knobs, buttons or surface finish represent the price range it's competing in.
I would cover the "fake wood " with leather. Black or brown... Cow like leather... no no .
To me, it looks different, but not necessarily cheap. I remember when I first saw a Nord, I thought it was the cheapest, goofiest looking keyboard I'd ever seen. Of course after a while, I grew to love the looks of the Nords.
Yes, in this price range you'd probably be happy to pay a hundred dollars extra for better looking buttons since the piano box itself looks so impressive. The front panel buttons unfortunately look like synthetic even in the video. Still, this is a great sounding piano.
You havent felt them have you?
