"That was 450' without even trying...I love when discs do that." Simon...we all wish that was the case bahahaha
Haha Such a luxury, eh?
I was thinking the same thing 😂
I was gonna say, sounds great, never experienced it. I've hit 450 but it was downhill and the throw of my life it felt like. Absolutely crushed for me.
Thanks MVP for signing this guy....everytime he gets new discs it's like a kid in a candy store !!
Simon... MVP will produce whatever the fork you tell them to produce.
I'll wait quietly for a Proton Time-Lapse.
I am new to disc golf. Been playing ball golf for 35 years, 2 handicap, member of an expensive private club. And because of Simon and my neighbor who plays DG, I am now obsessed with disc golf. Disc golf is so much more inviting than ball golf, and Simons's personality defines everything great about the sport. I could watch these videos all day. No doubt, Simon is bringing more of the masses into the game than any other pro, and MVP made the right call to sponsor him.
On a side note, the Proton stuff is great for lower arm speed guys like myself. My proton Virus is one of my favorite disc.
Conventional wisdom on Fission says that the stability is like that of a normal disc 10 grams heavier. So your 174 is behaving like a 184 (roughly). The plates are consistently light and the variability comes in the rim mass. Have them send you some 166ish and see if they behave more like what you’re expecting. One of the things I was genuinely nerd-excited about with your signing was the Fission specifically since the greater mass differential between plate and rim heightens the gyroscopic effect for those who can spin. And that, sir, is you. Keep leaning in. Good things are coming.
Whats the point in that though. For sure if you have some concerns about injury or if you are a girl struggling to get the disc up to speed having a 164 gram disc behave like a 174 gram disc could be desire-able, but realistically if fission is going to get popular they need to figure out how to unlock performance from the heavier fissions using a new disc shape that you can’t get out of any other competitor’s disc. Maybe it is possible to use fission to make a 16speed driver throw-able?
@@WARnTEAlighter weight and still reliably stable. Goes further with less effort. It’s the same reason Gannon’s main D1s are both mid-160s
Paul’s camera work is top notch.
Man that proton Time-lapse is money, thats a dream flight for a disc. It reminds me of a beat in Innova destroyer. I love my current time-lapse, but id kill to have that proton!
Most likely the sickest "Field Work/Test Flight" video i've ever seen. Cheers to Simon and MVP for making this possible. Really looking forward to the release of James's new "Trail." 👀
"that is a stable boy! but why..." loling so hard this is hilarious
Simon!!! Drop the fission weight to 165 or so. It might affect your timing but the fission is supposed to shine at lower weights. I would love to see a 155g fission comparison too
Yeah don’t get why they sent Simon 170+ Fission - that 165 ish like you said is where it’s at.
Agreed! I love my 151g Photon for forehands, would love a 155-160g Time Lapse for BH bombs.
Just saying I'd do some sketchy stuff for a fission insanity
Pretty much. the stability with fission is amazing. I have a 150g fission octane that just flips up and pushes like crazy. While it's 175 counter part is so stable, even compared to neutron octanes.
pretty much! Full weight fission has extra stability because of the higher ratio of weight in the rim. BUT you can go downweight a bit with fission without losing the ability to throw them in the wind to get that little extra flippiness with extra gyro power.
People don’t understand how beautiful is throws are ‼️
Love seeing all of the different plastics and how they fly! Super excited for those proton timelapses! The rim looks sooooo good!
How does Simon get me so excited about discs I don’t need 😂
I think he's a natural.
Haha me too. That's why he gets paid that good
Love seeing you back! Just finished setting up my guitar, but got a truss rod issue, and had an existential crisis. But luckily I have something to watch now!!!
Happy to hear that missing a day was for much needed rest and nothing worse. Hope you feel better soon.
Thanks for all the content Simon! You’re the most admirable pro if that helps motivate a bit more. Happy holidays hope you heal up quick!
I love your enthusiasm for discs. Incredible.
Thank you Simon. Thank you MVP for signing Simon. And, continuing to make the best discs in the world. I've been throwing (mostly) your stuff for 6 years, and been watching Simon for the same amount of time. The honest reactions, the real-time testing process, was fucking great!
Please don't ever stop
This is awesome content. Really helps to hear your thoughts, and this really illustrates why it makes sense to have less molds in different weights and plastics since they can fly so different.
Glad to see you're back up and bombing Simon! Quality over quantity!
Max weight fission is often the most stable cause added weight to the rims with the light weight flight plate. Love it, keep em coming! can't wait for the trail! Detour is great.
That must have been paul mcbeth on the phone 😊
Can't wait to check out the Trail. Looks amazing out of the box. Same with that Proton Time Lapse.
Getting Orc vibes with the Trail, I've wanted that from MVP for so long. Looks sick!!
I’ve been throwing the neutron Time-Lapse…proton here I come! Simon, I just appreciate your honesty and making the game fun again for a lot of us!
Love it Simon. Here's to more nature appreciation moments!
That Proton Time Lapse is THE ONE! I gotta get me a few of those.
Was great to see the Pitch and Parachute! Hoping they are gummy, perfect for winter! ❄️
You are the best, my friend.
Thanks for sharing.
Merry Christmas Simon. You the man
The proton plastics, yes yes yes
Absolutely love the Proton plastic for some reason for the drivers if I’m not throwing Neutron. I GOT TO get that purple/pink Proton Timelapse you threw I loved that look!!!
Thanks for all that you do Simon!!!
Heck yessss ❤ In snowy Norway the days between disc golfing are far apart bcuase of the weather. Cant wait for the season start and summer weather again. Thanks for entertaining us while we wait
Same in Canada.
The new Conrad disc looks to be a killer, as does the Proton Timelapse. Would love to get one or two of each for my bag.
Yeah… if you have Simon hand speed… too beefy to us mortals!
😂
Thanks for the vid, been waiting for this. Interesting about the fission timelapse. What I've noticed about fission plastic is it needs one or two good tree hits to get into it's beat-in shape, and then it gets it's turn. Also interseting about the proton flying that way- I still throw proton defys and they fly with an almost identical shape, up to 350 for me.
ENGINEER here (to the rescue): Simon, the Fission plastic will be the most STABLE (given the same weight and dimensions of the disc). Meaning, it is most resistant to turning (hyzer or anhyzer). That is the Gyro Effect. The Gyro effect is simply more rotational inertia, meaning resistance to turning on the axis of rotation. Generally, straighter flights.
Agreed. Simon should say overstable when he mean that instead of saying stable.
@@MaximilianBerkmann Sure, but colloquially in Disc Golf calling a disc 'stable' is calling it overstable. Drawing a language distinction between the two (despite the technical definitions) in a vlog would be confusing to the audience and out of place in this marketing asset. Just a marketing copywriter's opinion.
@Cakestack09 Nope, in DG stable means straight, not overstable.
“That was like 450 without even trying… I love when discs do that.” 😮
Why is Simon so irresistible to watch? He's like the human version of Tibetan bowls. It makes me happy just to watch him do his thing and talk about it like he's not on camera at all. And the discs are killer. MVP made an mvp move with this guy. It's axiomatic.
I just love the transparent honesty, like this version is better than this version, for me.
Merry Christmas to you and your family, Simon!
Proton Timelapse is a thing of beauty
Proton lover here. heck yes proton time lapse hype
Being from Shrewsbury, it's great seeing yall throw at Dean Park. Spent so much time there growing up.
I had back pain that resulted in a herniated disc, took me out of disc golf for 5 months. Take it easy in disc golf, make putting videos, and strengthen your core! We need to see you out on tour!
Thanks for making videos!! Hope your body gets to feeling better soon
As someone who has barely dipped their toes into understable discs, gotta appreciate Conrad's disc choices.
Hey Simon, I've been an acupuncture physician for 30 years and an avid disc golfer. Come on down to New Smyrna Beach, Fl and let's take care of those aches and pains. If not, find someone near you who knows what they are doing and get yourself tuned up!! Cheers and Guten Morgen!!
Those protons look like cash man!!! The fission ones are supposed to be more understable so in the wind not so good. I would love to see the time-lapse in plasma plastic!!! I can't wait to see production runs of everything you have and the streamline glitch! 🎉🎉🎉
Churr for the heads up on the different plastics on the time lapses
Prism Proton discs are the prettiest color combinations Axiom makes - the translucent plastic is the best and the combinations you got really highlight that
Hope you are feelin better soon kiddo! Merry Christmas!
PAUL KRANS!!! Simon, Glad you're feeling better!
See I told you those proton ones looked sick. That yellow and red one reminds me of the old pd I dyed for you. 👍
Fresh out of the gate, i find most 172+ fission discs to be among the most stable versions of that mold (Craves especially, heavy fissy Teslas as well). But they season in quickly. I feel like a sub 170 Time Lapse could be perfect. Love to hear the new Neutron blends are gummier 🤘🤘🤘
I agree. Max weight fission is much more stable than proton or neutron in the molds I’ve been able to try it in. I love my 174+ Hex and Envy. I use 152 and 166g fission Craves and a 172g cosmic neutron.
Simon! In my experience the Fission's are just as stable when new, but they beat in fast. Just work one in and you'll get a nice slightly understable (for you!) Time lapse.
I feel ya. Got new discs in the mail and was hyped to try them out, well the indoor practice got canceled that night because of some event. Then I got covid on that weekend and had a fever for basically the entire next week. The week after that I would've had a chance to go practice some shots indoors again, but no, there was a strike and those public spaces were not in use for that one spesific day of the week 💩. Got to play a round in snow that weekend FINALLY tho. Had to eagerly wait for almost a month 💩
I really can't wait for the Parachute.
Glad you’re feeling better! Do you think you could do an update on your disc collection since joining MVP?
that blue clear glitch is so good looking. im going to bag 6.
The fission's gonna beat in fast.Great video!
omg MVP is going to make so much money this year
SIMON. I think he just fixed my putt. it was your video with UAB where you were trying to help him with his putt. I started trying to open my hand so that the back of my hand was up and it has given me some consistency
Proton Plastic for the win! Love it!
Don't worry about blogs if you injured true fans would rather you were fit for the start of the season. Merry Christmas to you and your family. God bless
I cannot wait to try a proton and fission time lapse❤❤❤
I hope they do bring out those proton timelapses :D I have a yellow neutron with pink rim and it's a proper meathook. Not quite sure if it's too overstable because winter and ice does wonders to trying to generate power from lower body :D
"I had a knee injury a few weeks ago"
- Cuts back to throwing while sliding on a wet tee pad 😂
Never change Simon the new discs look sick
What video?
I'd be surprised if those were related.
@@daftcow706think it was the ace challenge with Drew, Uli, and Jerm, that one I want to think was on Drew's channel, but not positive
@@PirateDiscGolf-lk7ne Yeah, the ace race one.
Fission tends to be very weight dependent Simon so I don’t think the masses will mind when they come out in 155-165g
Should be a useful stability for us ams
Also it is theorized that the pitch is a less stable glitch and parashute is a more stable one. Kinda comes through on camera be we don’t know the wind. Also it is apparent 1 speeds are just straight discs
Pitches be flippin!
Oooh - I dont throw much MVP but I like the parachute and the trail!
Wait til your 50’s just saying ! Until then continue to enjoy youth ! Merry Christmas and a safe and happy new year ! ☮️
Give that Fission a chance to beat in Simon, glad to see you throwing some. By the way, the Proton rims with metal flake are called Prism. You have Prism Proton and Prism Neutron. Can't wait to get some myself. I will for sure get a Time Lapse or two at least in Fission.
Cannot wait for those Proton Glitchs to drop!!
Loved the video, Simon!
Release the Protons!! Those things are money!! For you and everybody else, lol. Love your stuff!! Feel better and Merry Christmas!!
Would be awesome to do a zoom interview with James Conrad to hear his thoughts on the Detour and Trail... and would be sick to see you just ask questions with the main MVP guys about insider development into all the new molds and plastics.
I need all of these discs!
I hope your back injury isn't too serious. Thanks for the video, Simon!
I want to see how the parachute and pitch does!
Edit: The trail looks 🔥 might compete with my beasts if I can get one in fission.
Those proton ones were flying exactly the same on almost each throw. Hope to see those on tour this season from you.
Also. Core plastic doesnt have the changes on disc flight like other brands in single mold. Cause the overmold adjusts the plh.
But axiom with the colors on the rims is always gonna see more variety in flights vs the mvp black rims.
The basket LOOKS real.
"That was 450 without even trying. I love when discs do that."
🙃
Rock on Simon.
Can't wait to see how the Fission Time Lapse beats in though!
Shot of the day? Miss you Simon. Get well soon & stay healthy.
yeah i know how you feel. my back has been feeling too wrecked to want to throw hard. sucks.
Indoor mini disc round for vlogmas? mini trick shots? That’s a good watch in my book
My Christmas wish list is long.
To sum it up:
MVP
Sounds like Simon is falling in love with a I-Blend Emperor, which is basically a more domey destroyer clone. Pretty sweet that the Proton Timelapses are looking so good.
Would love to see a form review for vlogmas!
I throw a bit of the fission plastic and I have noticed they do start out more stable but the fission plastic beats in more than the other plastics. At least that has been my personal observation. But I might need to get my hands on some of those proton timelapse 👌
good to see im not only one who struggles in wind.. like 15mph and up its not ideal at all!
I love the proton plastic, and seeing the proton time lapses smash brings me joy.
Super stoked for all the new plastics!!
Also, you can afford it, get you a physical trainer, even for mobility. Or start ATG (KneesOverToesGuy).
LET’S GOOOOO!!
The content is golden but I’m surprised MVP didn’t have Simon do this behind closed doors.
Sick effortless distance on those Time Lapses. The Trail looks like it could be an option for me, an old weakling.
Proton everything. Proton is the best plastic, it was the first, it’s the most consistent formula year to year
Sounds to me like you could use the Trail to replace 2 discs freeing up space. Why is there green grass near Worcester in Dec? I'm over 100 miles north and we don't have that
