This is comparable only to the other mission in the starting village where a lady asks you to find her dog. You go out searching for it only to find out that the butcher killed it. You return to the lady to give her the bad news, and she takes it awful lightly all things considered, even going out of her way to ask if you want any dog stew.

Also in the beginning's village we can punch an old lady to take her hut's key to steal her money, steal from a buddy of ours by finding his lost key to the house (he even states that he'll get in trouble if parents find out something got stolen), steal someone's valuable vase because a weird old man asked us to, and also a crap ton of other bad actions we can do throughout the entire Konquest. Jeez, no wonder Shujinko could be in Netherrealm with no problem xD

I wonder if missions like this are canon cause it would be interesting to see other characters call out Shujinko for this in the future

Or the fact that you keep entering other people's houses and take their money from the chests throughout all realms?"
I think some side quests are part of the original timeline lore of explaining how certain events took place, like Shujinko helping Blaze remember his mission which then leads to Armageddon.
But Shujinko breaking in people's houses and stealing all their money seems more like MK dark humor to me and player freedom which is part of what made Deception Konquest so great and memorable.

As much have I played this game in the past, I never completed or saw all of the side missions in Deception. I always knew Mortal Kombat was beyond brutal, but this side mission is just downright despicable.
It was funny . Relax lol
Konquest has a lot of questionable side missions. In the beginning of the Konquest there's one where you have to find a lady's dog from the butchet, but when you go with him he tells you he already killed him, and still you can give the lady what remains of the dog, she even offers you some "dog stew."
Other one, while it's a good action, if you don't do it at time, it's bad.
Some boy tells you to get a medicine for him, but if you don't deliver it before night, the boy dies.
I'm convinced no one has ever 100% this Conquest mode. There's always so many secrets.

I loved punching villagers in Earthrealm, then laughing as I ran through the streets full of unconscious bodies. Then sometimes I'd meditate then when they all regained consciousness I'd punch em all again. Tee heeđ

As a kid i did this quest and came back a couple of nights later and a weird glitch made the old man come back to life walk through his house and i couldn't talk to him, he no clipped through his house and walked into the terrain behind it

this was my favorite MK game , don't think i ever beat it though i remember you had to do this combo as kenshi in the story for one part and i never could do it .
Obviously Shujinko downfall was his complete inability to judge people's character and being easily Suggestible
I remember playing this side mission with my friend and it was sooo hard to scare him a second time. We tried everything like sneaking up behind a house and such but we managed at last.
