- Bill Maher spoke with Marianne Williamson and he talked about he thinks people are overblowing how "bad" some people have it in this country because when he drives around LA he sees people that are mostly pretty content. Williamson talks about her trip to Skid Row and says she'd disagree with him. Maher asks her why he'd ever drive to Skid Row.

Bill Maher, "Why don't single mothers just have their housekeepers watch their children while they work their second job?"
Exactly. Poor people whine too much 😊 Climate change is affecting you, move, just like that, solved! Like Shapiro said, another one so out of touch with reality.
I used to like Maher till he became a d!ckhead (or showed his true colors, IDK). Used to like him, not love him. He wasn't a great standup comedian, but entertaining.
I think he's still living in an 80s sitcom where every middle class family had a sassy live-in maid
Wait though...Bill knows people because he travels (into theaters, to a 5 star hotel, then onto a private jet)...And Bill knows today's kids are lazy (cause all his friends have affluent trust fund brats as children) And he really understands today's parenting struggles (he has no kids and none in his family he's close to)...and he knows the state of our union is fine (cause he sees how well everyone's doing when he looks down his sprawling property down onto other mansions)...He doesnt know anything!
Did he literally say that?
Who said he was relevant?@@j-fo4753
Bill's argument is so stupid. It's like looking round your room and saying "I don't see any dolphins here. Dolphins obviously don't exist."
That's what exactly what the MN State Senator said about hungry kids. They don't exist, because I have never met one. It's asinine
They’re underneath all these sharks
You'd be surprised at how much conservative thinking boils down to exactly that. (Ok, maybe you won't be that surprised anymore).
No, you have it wrong. It's like him saying that he sees dolphins when he goes to the beach and when he goes to the zoo but he doesn't see them when he is at the grocery store. If you go to skid row you are going to see homeless people just like if you go to the hospital you are going to see sick people, It doesn't mean that everyone is sick. Williamson's argument is terrible. Maher says he travels the country and that generally things aren't that bad. Her response is "but skid row." She is a clown and a grifter.
@jonathanwilliams1641 but it isn't just skid row and actually Republicans are always attacking Democrats over homelessness in blue states like New York and California so you you can't then turn round and say it's only in one isolated place. Why is anyone homeless in one of the most affluent countries on Earth anyway? Why are 80% of them mentally ill people? Because people like Bill would rather keep their taxes low and look the other way.
For all the time Bill spends bragging that he doesn't have kids, I'm pretty happy that he doesn't have kids, either.
He could teach them to look down on homeless people.
It is nice not having kids weigh you down in fairness
I'd hate to be his child
I think he could have been a very good father. Though not sure he would have been the grown- up in that relationship.
@@nialllappin4159Amen! I’m happily childless!
It always brings a smile to my face every time I see someone knock Bill Maher off of his self-imposed golden pedestal.
Sooo... anytime he's talking to a leftist that isn't a reactionary with a mask on? 😅
Yeah, Someone ought to tell this guy to get over himself or something
This is why I'm here...
He thinks he is on the same level as George Carlin.
Bill is a professional asshole and he is the best. The top.
Bill Maher just becomes more smug and insufferable with each passing day.
You watched a video of smug, condescending people calling Maher old, short, tacky, washed up and what you took from it was that it was Maher who is smug?
@@jonathanwilliams1641 Good point. They are too haha.
He is gross and disgusting.
He should cut back on the booze.
This was overall a very friendly conversation with a hug at the end. Maher gave Williamson a forum and treated her seriously. Before I saw this interview, I thought Marianne was just a flake; now thanks to Bill, I know that's not true.
Maher: "there's no homeless people out there."
Williamson: "I saw homeless people last night."
Maher: "Well, if you're just gonna cheat by finding homeless people..."
When did Maher say there's no homeless people out there? Your critical thinking is so poor. You probably drive by a school and then think that everyone in America is a child because you just saw a bunch of them. Going to skid row and then extrapolating that everyone in America is poor is ridiculous. It is like the Trump supporters who only go to Trump rallies and therefore think that everyone else is a Trump supporter so he must have actually won in 2020.
Maher: It matters what I see, what I read, and what people tell me.
News: There's a lot of poverty and homelessness.
Williamson: There's a lot of poverty and homelessness.
Maher: Well, I don't see it, and that trumps what I read and what people tell me.
In fact you don't have to go looking for homeless people in LA. There are homeless people even in Beverly Hills. It's so heartbreaking. Kudos to Marianne Williamson.
She's running for President right now 💜
"We made it through the pandemic without going broke" not sure what 'we' you mean there Bill because I lost everything.
It’s ok everybody!! The country is ok now because Bill Maher is doing well.
He's very egocentric. Literally every take he has connects back to him in some way. Same reason he whines about woke mobs canceling people too. He says stupid shit all the time and receives pushback for it, therefore "wokeness" is the biggest problem in the country. Not inequality, not healthcare, not affordability, but "wokeness", and all because some people said means things on twitter or didn't laugh at one of his bad jokes.
Oh thank goodness. I've been losing sleep over that.
The irony is that if BM and his blinkered brethren were to suddenly just -- you know -- disappear off the face of the earth forever, the country would automatically be better off.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@bartkoscinski9421 He gets really mad when his audience doesn't laugh doesn't he?
I don’t see any homeless people in my mansion, how bad could the world really be?

I mean, homeless people in LA should gather in a giant mob, storm his mansion, and burn it down, with him in it... all that alcohol will help the fire.
😂
Poor Bill Maher hates being reminded that capitalism isn't working for everyone.
Legit all she had to do was mention homeless people for Bill to drop the "why would I want to see the homeless poors?". Masterful
"And you're not driving there."
"And most people don't."
That's toddler level object permanence there Bill. I don't see it so it doesn't exist.
I do see it. He is right she is in a bubble and wrong.
Toddler thinking underpins the Republican party and America in general. Who needs evidence or go through the effort or researching when you can use your assumptions, right Bill?

Maher is just against the looney left people in his party who are obsessed with the woke stuff or the people defunding the police, mandating vaccines, gender neutral nonsense.

That's the only way he can get anyone to listen to him.
That’s why I don’t watch or listen. I do enjoy his HBO show though most of the time.
Same thing as his show. He hasn't listened to his guests in years. There is an interview with Bill Maher talking to Bill Burr and after a while, accusing Bill Burr of arguing anecdotal the whole time, which is why he can not have a serious discussion with him. How ironic
Yup I immediately thought of that! What a hypocrite
@@tonywords6713Empirical evidence. What a concept.
Bill Burr does his thing with a wink and a smile, fully admitting he’s an ignoramus. Maher wears an oxygen mask that pumps rarified air directly out of his rectum, flabbergasted that nobody ever wants a toke.
This reminds me of when Williamson embarrassed Dave Rubin on his own show, and then Dave said she actually agreed with him on a lot of stuff when the cameras were off lol
There's no way Dave Rubin makes enough to embarrass himself as much as he does. It's gotta be a kink.
@@P0rk_Sinigang He always seems so defeated. Something in his eyes just always seems sad. I'd feel bad for him if he wasn't pushing reactionary bullshit.
I think those are the moments when it sinks in properly that he's a token gay which they can use to further their own agenda of shoving everyone back into the closet/killing them off (depending on level of bigotry) while they point at him and say "Homophobes? Us?! No! Look! We cannot be homophobes because we allow this gay man to lick our shoes and assure us our feelings ARE more important than basic human rights!".
You know, the moments where he wonders if, should the day come where everything he and his 'friends' (who openly admit their disgust for him, to him, every chance they get) are advocating, he'll be able to run away to a safer, less radicalised country with his family and all of the money he made selling out his own minority, and has to ask himself "What if they won't let me on the plane with my kids by that point?".
I think at one point he genuinely convinced himself that if he just simped hard enough, licked enough shoe leather and really raised his torch and pitchfork with the most enthusiasm, that they'd let him be part of the angry hate mob. But then he dared to have a family, it turned out half of his followers didn't know he was gay before that, and they almost unanimously condemned him in very clear terms and he realised he'll never get to be a valued part of the hate mob, at best they'll just string him up last.
If I was him I'd look sad and defeated too, especially if it ever clicked that the parroting and self debasement that he suffers as a career is nobodies fault but his own.

Bill Maher has been a tv star for 30 years now, he's surounded by yes-men production crew - he's treated like a god. Cenk mentioned a conversation with Rachel Maddow about this. Maher lives in a bubble where he's always right and it's blatantly obvious. He's very Trump like in that aspect.
He was a lazy, arrogant fool before all that, too. He had a small part in a low-budget '80s horror ("House", I think it was called? Ambitious if flawed little flick), and he literally just played himself, and somehow lazily failed at doing even that. It was maybe the least interesting thing I've ever seen on film.
Years ago I actually used to look forward to his Friday night show. But I noticed that the older and richer he got, the more right he started leaning and the less tolerant he grew. Now he is absolutely insufferable. "My eyes also matter" has to be THE most privileged, solipsistic asshole line EVER that wasn't uttered by Trump.
And an audience that gobbles his every word
Jesus, that studio. If I still needed to be convinced that mentally Maher is a 12 year old trying to be edgy this would do it
If that doesn't convince you, back in his _Politically Incorrect_ days, he argued that fun should be more important than safety. He has always had this side, but the ratio of good to bad has turned the last few years.
It’s not a studio.
The Bill Maher studio looks like the room of a 17 year old in 1970. That studio is his inner teenager dream come true. You cannot be surprised by his mindset.
I agree it's stupid looking
It’s incredible that Bill Maher has argued & debated with theists for so long without learning that anecdotal evidence is the bottom-of-the-barrel level quality of evidence… 🙄
You atheists are obsessed with theists.
"I'm as liberal as anybody, and you know it." That's as reassuring as when someone says, "Honestly." Because until you say "honestly," you're lying out the wazoo.
Maher reminds me of my alcoholic grandfather who in his youth was left leaning and now is just a drunk old curmudgeon...
Oof, that's unfortunate
Bill is still pretty liberal. He just doesn’t agree with all the talking points, which should be okay. I think if you looked at the Venn diagram of things liberals want and his views they would probably overlap by 80% easily. Which in my opinion puts him squarely in that camp.
Maher lives in a rich neighborhood w rich neighbors. Sure, things look good from that perspective.
He ain't got no neighbors on that island
Maybe if Bill Maher actually drove across the country from show to shoe instead of flying private from city to city, he’d see the other half.
Great exposure of what and who Bill Maher really is.
Maher is fine. Guess it’s cool to attack him because he’s not 100% liberal
I really wish I was seeing more of this segment between Mahr and Williamson in the reporting than just this awful take of Maher's. Williamson absolutely smacked him down for a good 5 minutes straight, and a lot of that is getting lost to "Bill Maher said something stupid... Again."

So was I. Too bad the title was clickbait.
And where was the humiliation? The hosts called him old, short and washed up. They laughed about his claims of riding around the USA while they sit in their New York bubble. All it takes is about 12 seconds to see that Maher actually travels the country doing stand up in places these hosts would never go. Something that blows my mind are people who are pulling in $200,000 a year who insist they are living paycheck to paycheck...
With a few kids, rent, school loans, and maybe medical expenses. I could see someone spending the 10k a month you get after taxes at a 200k a year. If they dared have a nice house in an area that has positions that pay 200k a year (which is probably the total income of two adults). And by nice I mean not an apartment, has a yard and garage and each of the kids have their own room.
Well… you can still be paycheck to paycheck, but that’s because you’re spending money you don’t have.
If you buy cars that cost more than houses, then sure… you can have enough bills that you can not afford to live. Alternatively, you can live in extremely expensive places like California. Then 200K is probably not enough to support you or your family.
What exactly does "paycheck to paycheck" mean? Does everyone have the same definition? Probably not, and I think that is why there are so many people that classify themselves that way.
Your 200k people example could have 401k contributions coming out of their paychecks before getting their hands on them. Would that make them ineligible to be "paycheck to paycheck"?

Bill Maher was for the Vietnam war and that should cancel out being against the Iraq war.
Glenn Greenwald
It'd obviously be meaningless NOW (which made it such a great line in that awesome spoof😄)
Even better was the blank, silent stare Armisen gave him when Heidecker half slurred,
"You know I'm as liberal as anyone." 😄😆🤣😂)
but it made a lot of sense in the context of the time it occured to give Obama props for that opposition stance. Now, when you have neo fascists like Sargar Enjeti & uber conservatives like Glenn Beck & Alex Jones espousing that POV, it's irrelevant (took the cons a while to come around too - none held this position til around 2010).
You may or may not be old enough to remember WHY Obama got credit from many Dem primary voters & the small handful of Progressive newsmedia personalities around 20 years ago (back when Bill Maher was a "liberal"- a sexist, elitist, contrarian, unempathetic, egotistical, so - called "liberal". He seemed mainly concerned w/ constitutional freedoms & other basic rights- tho not for those groups who were most often robbed of theirs (...🤔) & also a big theme w/ him was a libertarian-esque hyperfixation on freedom from religious orgs. He didnt talk much about the enviroment, or racism (tho he didnt seem to like police), prison reform, abortion rights, or health care. He did mention lobbying/ corruption, often but didnt make any clear argument about it, more of a "both parties bad" lazy enlightened cynic way, rather than proposing solutions (like having publicly financed elections). He was definately NOT in any way in favor of the hypocritical "family values" party, he criticized them A LOT, too. But he also didnt
seem to care about most so - called liberal issues, ( from memory, I'd watch him hosting "Politically Incorrect" as a tween kid, in the early 90s.)
He most often argued against guns & for legal weed, and he was BFFs w/ disgusting far right grifters, which always made me wonder even then how much he believed what he espoused, or if it was more a matter of playing a part.
As for Obama deserving the props he got for his early and vocal opposition to the Iraq War, it WAS appropriate at the time (literally 2 decades ago) bc:
1) his accolades for it began to enter mainstream political sphere by 2006 & was mostly old news by 2009, once after he'd been elected- his campaign using that particular example as one of the main reasons to trust him despite his youth & being relatively new to politics, esp in foreign affairs. It was central to his campaign's talking point that judgement > experience.
2) A. it started in the lead up to, & lasted thru 2007-08 Dem presidential primary, to differentiate himself from Hillary & cancel out her argument that she had "greater experience" in govt, & was therefore
"More prepared on Day 1". Obama won on this issue, arguing experience is irrelavant if you dont use it to get to the right decision. The vast majority of Dem primary voters disliked that she voted "yes" to grant Bush war powers & later for funding on the war ( just 4 yrs in, the Iraq war was extremely unpopular w/ Dem voters, like 85% opposed)
B. Typical of hillary's bad political instincts, it took a LONG time for her to admit her mistake, YEARS longer than even most establishment centrist Dems- for example, refused to 'take the L' at Least 3 yrs longer than John Kerry, who did when he ran in 2004.
3) the main reason I used Obama's outspoken opposition to the war while trying to convince old school Dems voters in my family to vote for him over Shillary (we're from NY so it was not easy- despite the Clinton's horrendous 3rd way philosophy, ppl who lived thru Reagan/ Bush Sr./ Clinton/ Bush Jr. had experienced Bill as the ONLY president of their adult lives who got Any good done, & she was pretty well liked as a senator in NY, so lots of loyalty to the Clintons existed, her as much as him bc Hillary was a part of Bills White House, heading several major policies, using her role like no First Lady had ever done, & the misogynist blowhard talking heads back then, like Limbaugh, HATED her for it.) the primary was that it not only showed him to be correct, but to have better values & be very to the Left of Clinton (which, as a Senators, he was- he was a progressive, she was a centrist) was based off his statement made in a speech in like 2003, & the reason Obama gave for his position in that speech was that it was
A. dangerous & unnecessary
B. Will take U.S. tax dollars away from helping struggling & poor ppl here... bc this was back when Obama aped the stances of a populist
4) a sizable % of Dem party voters were more centrist / conservative 20 yrs ago, the 75- 80% of liberal (that is, those who didnt refer to their agenda & their favored policies/ pols as "progressive") leaned much more into pushing issues they were told by media would make them "appealing to swing voters", which til about 2016 was the #1 Goal of the Dem establismnent (rather than give their past voters reason to keep doing so).
Which is objectively Bad (self destructive) Business practices - its more expensive to get a new customer than keep an existing one. The Dem est has forgotten to give their voters what they want in addition to mollifying their donors, which is shortcited. They think they fundraise better when they lose, but theyd fundraise better than THAT if they actually delivered on promises.
RANT: Anyone who is not old enough to remember a world w/out omnipresent internet & social media, can not fathom just how much, or how, the political conversation has changed (without a doubt it's been mostly for better, obviously there's a few negative impacts on society that could be helped by the ppl owning Google, Facebook etc, All Big Tech, as if they are industries in a socialist society) and cant know the extent to just how easily corporate media controls the discussion when they control everything you see... when every political news segment is approved by and often even a direct collaberation among the powers that be: int'l corps sponsors, bought & paid for politicians, political parties, even entire govt agencies, &
Big Business owned & operated newsmedia companies, meaning in any corporate news story, the reader is getting about 10 % unbiased facts, 30% slanted narrative that still has some truth within, & 30-60%, depending on the authenticity of the media company, propaganda- messaging designed to control & push consumers where they want them, using rhetoric, anxiety & fear, & psychology, hidden meaning... intentionally manipulating the masses.
The important thing to remember using independent media instead of corporate, is to make sure its not using you, & that your consumption isnt passive, but is intentional, and conscious that the reason narratives in mainstream sources are so compelling is bc that's whete the $$$ is, they have all the advantages of creating fully funded, carefully, deliberately packaged messages that are focus group researched, & touched up with PR company- like, well crafted to be less noticable, spin. Andnthe reason they HAVE to do ALL that, is bc the messages that we are given by these entities is HARMFUL to us and goes against our natural instincts.
Liberals now vote for candidates that supported the Iraq war.
He is Dennis Miller now basically.. that's Bill Mahr
"My eyes matter, what I see matters." - Lol he knows he doesn't live in reality
Marianne is fantastic!
I don't know if Maher really changed or is just chasing relevance by changing. The guy was always just center left, but now if I were to be generous, center right on a good day.
I honestly think he just appeared more progressive in the 90's because that's what it took to be a shit stirrer then. It was empty contrarianism.
Me too. I don't watch him anymore so I don't even know what he's saying or what he calls himself now. I suspect a little bit of both. He always was arrogant and smug, so I think he probably does always think he's right. I suspect he also senses that being 'anti-woke' is the most lucrative and 'edgy' thing right now too, so part of it is probably opportunistic.
By dismissing skid row he revealed how he sees those living there as less human. He is so blind to their humanity he laughs at the idea of caring about them. Surreal and deeply disturbing.
How does he manage to squeeze his ego into that chair??
He got SUUPER pissed when she called him a conservative..
Also hilarious that he lambasted Bill Burr for relying on "meaningless antecdotes"
Somedays there's nothing better than when everyone dunks on Bill.
_"Sometimes"?!?_ 😆😉
To be fair, crunchy leaves are pretty sweet
Matt's joke about the crunchy leaf killed me 😂
I love you four!!! I adore the way you take on seriuos issues.
The sarcasm you all use to point out the absurd circumstances.
How you denunce "how out of touch" are all who should represent and SERVE the people.
I really appreciate and enjoy your show. Thank you
When I'm carried around my mansion by my manservants, I see a lot of working class people, 100% of them are employed. There is no involuntary unemployment in this country.
Bill has never wrote his own jokes.
Bill doesn’t see enough hobos with the red polka dot bandana satchel on a stick containing all their worldly possessions, walking around.
"He looks like a boy king in his throne" "I've got my smokes, I've got my beverages, I've got my BIG CHAIR, I've got my dim lighting"
I feel so personally attacked right now
Wow MR is actually covering Marianne Williamson
Bout time
I don't think she has the political background to do anything real in the primary, but man she is really just fantastic at agit prop and her popularity with young people shows that. Glad she's doing what she's doing.
I think she would be great at having Elizabeth Warren’s old job as a consumer advocate in the federal government
Trump had zero political or military experience but Marianne was a high-powered minister known internationally, a best-selling author of numerous books and phenomenal public speaker for decades before she became a social activist. So being an inspirational leader is nothing new to her and she's extremely bright and informed.
Can someone please provide the Tim Heidecker link?? I'm crying laughing 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I ride around in my gated community, I see prosperity 🥴
Not only is he not venturing into the poor areas of his own city, he's not leaving the coasts. A simple drive cross-country, especially in the South, and you will see hundreds of deserted main streets, empty shopping malls, crumbling houses and abandoned buildings everywhere, and countless poor neighborhoods that do their shopping at Dollar General. It's depressing AF: And the cigar is not a good look.
They drive through Skid Row and say Biden’s America then drive through Brentwood and say it’s Trump’s America. They see the ultra rich and the desperate poor but totally ignore the middle.
Bill is proud to announce he has never changed when it is so obvious he has but he cannot see it. 😂
"Why would I drive by Skid Row!?!" - "That's kind of my point!"
Bill Maher admitting he KNOWS of the dispossessed and just avoids thinking about them or seeing them.
I'm really old so I remember a time when Bill Maher was relevant. That time is long gone. He has been drifting right for years and I expect him to start binging Fox News any day now.
Marianne smoked him.
