Silent Night.
A famous Christmas carol first performed in 1818 at St Nicholas parish church in Oberndorf, a village in Austria. Our version was arranged by Aleksander Dębicz especially for our trio and first performed here. In that beautiful setting in Warsaw. It is our Christmas gift to all of you. We are sending you a lot of good vibes for the end of the year.

The composer's beautiful use of the G Lydian accompaniment against the Ionian melody is incredibly beautiful.

The piano accompanied is the real star in this piece. it sounds so bright and sweet! Really clear and crisp, like frost. The guitar, mellow and gentle. It's all very pretty amongst the twinkling lights

The playing, Yes. I however was thinking that possibly a German, or even a Fazioli would have been a more fluid choice. Look it is more likely to be my ears that are tuned to a more European voicing than an American one.

I agree. The piano has a lovely bittersweet delicacy which I find reminiscent of Elmer Bernstein's writing for the piano in his score for "To Kill a Mockingbird".

As always, listening to Jakub's angelic voice was a treat and the piano/guitar accompanied him in a unique way. The performance obviously took place in Warsaw and this piece is so universally loved there are many translations from the original German. Jakub is used to singing in many languages. It would be so great if he could find a way to sing this carol in multiple languages so many/everybody can find something familiar sounding. Jakub surely could sing it in Polish, German, French, Spanish, Italian, English and maybe Russian. That would be something special, wouldn't it? Merry x-mas to you all!
