A beautiful, moderate countertenor, plus excellent diction. Every word clear and understandable, which is rare, I think. I’ve been following this young man’s career and am so pleased to see his success.
His English pronunciation isn't always accurate though - unless it's just for the purposes of the style of this sort of music (I'm not a big fan of opera, so I wouldn't know). Nevertheless, an amazing performer with an amazing voice!

Yes it is the correct style of pronunciation music of this period and particularly for this piece. The only word he doesn't get quite correct is Shame but I doubt I could pronounce much of Polish very correctly even with practice as it is quite removed from the mouth formations of English. I speak 5 languages but would not want to take on Polish :-)
@@globalman His pronunciation of Shame was spot on, at least from a British-English standpoint.
@@globalman Sometimes the sung vowel is distorted to accommodate the notes in the score. His pronunciation sounds superb to my ears too.

Unglaublich, was der Mann für eine Technik und auch Sensibilität hat!!! Jeder Buchstabe ist hörbar und bekommt Ausdruck. Der ganze Textinhalt ist im Gesicht ab lesbar. Singers who specialize in Baroque and earlier music tend to have much better diction than mainstream opera singers do. So Orlinski's diction here, which is very good, didn't surprise me.

Extraordinarily presented with much deep feeling: I have never heard such in all my 72 years. Mo. Orlinski is a genuine treasure of western civilization.

When this young man sings, it feels like an angel calming my soul! A marvelous gift these days.

Not only has he the most wonderful, expressive voice but his diction is impeccable. This is the precise way of pronunciation you would hear from classical actors many, many decades ago but which modern actors cannot manage, no matter how hard they try. I wonder whether Jakob was raised in England? If he wasn’t then this is even more remarkable. A true pleasure to hear. (Actually, given the appalling way most Britons speak today, he must have been raised in Poland):

As far as I know, he grew up in Poland and did all his musical training there, before he rose to prominence by filling in for a sick colleague during a radio concert at Aix-en-Provence in 2017. Since then he has been working hard to harness all the potential of his amazing voice and talent.

The conductor must know that the speed by which he set the music goes contrary to the meaning of the words, sorrowful requires a slower tempo, with more empathy; no fault of the countertenor. I have not found a version to match the intensity both musically and vocally; of Kathleen Ferrier with the orchestra conducted by Adrien Boult

This the best performance I have ever heard. My tears flowed, when again realizing what My Lord Jesus had to endure. Jakub's ad lib notes were stunningly well integrated into this Händel work. Fantastically composed voice, purity and diction. Jakub keeps it in good shape all the time, controlling every single detail and letting it sound natural, without exaggeration in all aspects of his art. No tremolo (vibration) that bothers ears in some other singers. Just right!

Brilliant voice, sung with such feeling in every note and baron of the best counter tenors i have heard, they do not come very often like Jakub ,may he have a long and lovely career using his God given voice.

I just realised I haven't heard Messiah performed with modern instruments for a number of years now. Marek Toporowski adds a touch of authenticity, though.

It's easy to be an armchair critic and not have to do what you criticise. Rather like the sad, pretentious people who take the score to an opera performance and go tut tut over what they perceive to be a wrong note. They forget that every performance is unique. The worst I have seen on here is someone who said that a recording was a semi tone lower than the original performance in 1730. What nonsense. I say just enjoy a great performance now.
