I've had mine for a couple of weeks and found the manual two stage cooking very useful (as shown in the instructions). For example, if cooking a frozen pizza: 1) press Convection 3 times (180c) 2) enter the required time (e.g. 20 min). 3) press Grill 4) enter the required time (e.g. 5 min). 5) press start. The unit will begin coking using the convection oven at 180c for 20 minutes and then automatically switch to grill for 5 minutes. It's limited to 2 stages only but you can use any two combinations between convection, grill and microwave. I find this manual method easier than the preprogrammed combination settings.
most informative as usual. Thank you. My trusty Soladom of 12 years gave a ghastly gasp and gave up the ghost. I had repaired it twice already so decided it must go to the recycle depot. I'm in the market for a replacement (the Smeg oven is just too big to run although I did buy a cheapie 20 litre micro meanwhile to supplement.) I don't think we have Sharp here in South Africa but I do like the idea of no turntable. Thanks for advice.
just got one of these, bit of experimentation needed to work out hte best settings for things, but once you figure that out it's a brilliant bit of kit. And far cheaper to run than a standard oven. Good price compared to others as well.
I just watched this video which I found very informative , however it did not answer my question. I need to know should I place the casserole or baking pan directly on the flat base or on the rack when using convection to cook.
Hi, That was very good for me on how to use this microwave was a present and the writing in the manual is so small I can't read it so I'll be coming back for how to cook certain dishes like a pasta bake?
If you are cooking something like bread or cakes i would always get the cavity up to temperature first. That way there is more even cooking for when you put the food in.
I can't speak for Sharp - I worked for Whirlpool as a complaints engineer (yep, thats a real job title!) On our models the power was either "on" or "off", and the dial on the front just adjusted the time "on". So defrost and full power were identical, just different timings. You can actually just listen - when the unit is "grinding" it's working, when not, it's just circulating the food for heat. So in my experience - "just Time". Power is a constant, just applied by time. If that makes sense? Again - I am only talking from a third party point of view - I have not worked on Sharp systems. They may be different.
Just got mine. Got the R861M I'm not sure if mine is faulty or they are really loud lol I was surprised by the size of it, it's massive. I actually like it as we're 5 now since my dad moved in with us. The only downside is that it could have come with an oven rack as it seems to have the positions for one or 2 so the tray is not in contact with the bottom.
Is a standard microwave with a rotating turn table suppose to heat the items put inside more evenly? Or is that a myth? I do realize this product is not just a standard microwave, I’m just curious.
Had a quick look, and looks like it may be an issue with the door not shutting properly? Im not sure whether there could be an issue with the door catch?
Very odd, a flatbed microwave which accepts rectangular trays, but the Sharp supplied accessories are round? It totally negates the whole flatbed design, which is supposed to give you more space for your food!
Opinion on the model - overly loud operation and one of the worst manuals ever. Otherwise, it's a pretty competent flat bed combi-microwave, but takes a lot of figuring out. The internal lamp has blown on mine, after about three years, which is irritating.

There’s a short cut button to reheat a mug of coffee, great microwave, had ours for a while now.

How to use the settings behind the door handle inside when you open the door. Thanks. Josie
Very nice thank you so much
Can I put a dish on the flatbed when in convection mode or do I have to put the dish on the metal tray provided
As a standard oven, does it heat only from the top?
When you pull the handle down Are the 13 pictures buttons
I have just dort the R861m sharp but would like to know what the 2 triangle simbils are please
Easy to understand

How do I set the time please?
Very clever
Very nice device. Can sound be disabled?
Do you have to preheat the convection before putting in you prepared food dough like cake or bread

What about dropping the plate on the glass when removing the plate? Could cause a huge problem.
Its sturdy enough had one for years no issues
Does the defrost option vary the power also? Or just time?

It's REALLY loud.
Hi! Is there a bigger version of this combi microwave?
Not with this kind of door that we stock, but there is the R959 which has a 40 litre capacity
@@lords-electrical do you have the r959 in stock?
Hi just got this comb microwave today. Should the grill be coming on when using just the oven function? Thanks
That’s the element for the oven too
Thank you, getting used to the microwave oven now :)
@@stitchintime7122 how are you getting along with yours? I have one arriving on monday but I've never used a combi before 😬

I’ve found when baking an apple pie to rotate it half way through the time
Please, my sharp microwave has the timer sign on ,and it is not working ,what can I do?
what is error e01

Mine broke down after 2 years
Whatever but stainless steel means no plastic or other components should be inside

What could you expect? Their minds are not Sharp enough.
And for the price of £365, without a square tray, that's dishonesty and misleading.
Not brilliant as an oven either
